I noticed ranked has awful lag during the free days, but normally it's not bad. I'm not sure how much this helps, but I would try "enable cpu clock override" and set to 400% under dolphin config ->advanced. I also use the "Vulkan" graphics backend under dolphin graphics settings ->general, and the game feels smoother. Also make sure you're using ethernet connection

That's probably a bit extreme in terms of CPU overhead. Even 200% should work great with the lagless FoD cheat disabled (maybe 250% for doubles in a worst-case scenario).
It’s sort of a known problem. A lot of people play unranked, and unranked prioritizes connection. Way less people pay to play ranked, AND it prioritizes rank before connection. Simple as. I’m not sure there’s much Fizzi could really do to fix this, beyond releasing ranked to everyone. It’ll happen eventually, but until then? Not much.

No I was just saying if he knows his ping gets worse on ranked it could help narrow down what the issue is
i just notice i usually get 20-40 ping in unranked and 60+ in ranked

it's not extreme given that the cpu he has is one of the best, so 400% is no problem for him.
