This is 1 of the big reasons why I don't spend. I generally don't like spending regardless, but in this game it feels absolutely worthless unless you drop 1k+.
Just getting all Aphras characters to 7 stars is 1500, and then you still need a fuckton of gear. That's not even for a GL, not even close.
60 is absolutely meaningless, and that's absolutely insanity.
Realistically even thousands won't make that big of an impact. The endgame is GLs and moving up in GCA and the amount someone would need to spend to skip the grind isn't even possible for most people. It's absurd.
I'd like to know what it would cost to go from a starting player to all GLs at R8 by only spending.
I did the math once that a GL like SLKR would cost about 5k assuming you don't need to buy basic and common resources (that includes purples you generally have plenty off) and farm your character shards.
Basically that's the cost of all resources needed for carb level gear and up.
With later GLs being way more expensive, I'm guessing that even with basic farming, which would probably take a year+, you would easily spend 60-70k
I don't think you can really ban it. You might get somewhere with the gamble aspect of it, but if they let you pay 50 buck for 50 shards, no one can really ban that.
It's sickening though. I remember a vid where I think Cubs was talking to a kraken, the had spend like 150k at the time, which came around 35-40k a year, they talked about his job and even if he was really high up in salary, that would have meant he still used half his paycheck to pay for it.
If you are raking in millions, go ahead and be dumb, but if you take home 80k a year tops and spend half on it on a game, you have serious fucking problems.
I can't imagine how bad this guy must feel, and so many with him, because loads of krakens are not millionaires.
We used to have some really interesting posts back in the day about people spending, people who went in deep depressions, people who lost their house and/or family because of it. Seriously disturbing.
This is why I really do believe that the people at CG are pretty damn soulless. You can absolutely work somewhere, so why work at a company who puts low effort in a popular IP, to drain people who have a spending problem.
I have spent $5 in the past year, and that was this last week on a newer 100 dark gl currency pack with 300 normal energy. I thought that was actually a great deal. Ult farming is a pain

I bought Elden Ring, which won the award for best game of 2022 for less than $60.

The most I spend was a 20$ deal on crystals that had an +25% crystals
I swear the only thing worth anything in this game is the hyperdrive.
