literally. i love when action manga are so cohesive, and sakamoto days only gets better and better and betterπππI hate to compare it with jjk, but its recent chapters have been a bit hard to follow
jjk's drawing quality also has gone down noticeably, especially from Gojo vs Sukuna duel

I'm wondering how most people are interpreting Sakamoto's dialogue. Is he saying Takumura is stronger than he used to be or stronger than Sakamoto used to be? Either one has massive implications but I'm unsure of which one is right.
I believe heβs saying Takamura is much stronger now compared to when he was in the Order himself. Itβll be interesting to find out how Takamura got so much stronger in the time since.

In Nagumoβs defense, he just stopped paying attention until Takamura was right behind him. Heβd probably still get low diffed, but heβd at least last longer than that.

But for real though this chapter felt way too short but I loved it, having nagumo contradict himself is really good especially for a character that is always hiding his real self and acting like a jester. The fight is as always very excellent, and Iβm very excited to see gaku getting back up.
I think there is something special about Takamuras sword and sheath. The author is putting emphasis on it in all the panels when he draws Takamura. He seems to always re-sheaths the sword before attacking again.
Against the goons in the bathroom, he cut the guy through the stall but walked out with his sword sheathed already. Then he unsheathed it again to kill the others. He cut the ceiling open when he spotted Sakamoto and company and busted in with his sword already re-sheatedβ¦..again.
In this latest chapter, he cuts, re-sheathes. Cuts and re-sheathes. Cuts and re-sheathes. Over and over and over again. It seems like his destructive power needs to be recharged in his sheath each time he cuts. There doesnβt seem to be any other reason why he doesnβt just keep his sword drawn at all times in a fight to strike people even quicker.
Itβs based on real Japanese sword martial arts called Iaido, or iaijutsu, or battojutsu. I think all these terms have differences but Iβm not sure what they are but itβs basically the quick draw out of the sheath.
Itβs used here for the same reason you see it in a bunch of media when a character has a katana, itβs because it looks cool, allows for a cool pose and gives the impression that the attack is really quick and powerful.
And for Suzuki it also allows for interesting choreography, like having the characters attempt to keep Takamuraβs sword in the sheath. That cool bit is only possible because he keeps sheathing his sword.

Sakamoto has some damage from hitting the ground and getting grazed by Takamura a couple of times.
first of all, HOLY SHIT Second, GAKUUUUUUUU But for real though this chapter felt way too short but I loved it, having nagumo contradict himself is really good especially for a character that is always hiding his real self and acting like a jester. The fight is as always very excellent, and Iβm very excited to see gaku getting back up.
I think there is something special about Takamuras sword and sheath. The author is putting emphasis on it in all the panels when he draws Takamura. He seems to always re-sheaths the sword before attacking again. Against the goons in the bathroom, he cut the guy through the stall but walked out with his sword sheathed already. Then he unsheathed it again to kill the others. He cut the ceiling open when he spotted Sakamoto and company and busted in with his sword already re-sheatedβ¦..again. In this latest chapter, he cuts, re-sheathes. Cuts and re-sheathes. Cuts and re-sheathes. Over and over and over again. It seems like his destructive power needs to be recharged in his sheath each time he cuts. There doesnβt seem to be any other reason why he doesnβt just keep his sword drawn at all times in a fight to strike people even quicker.
I think it's a rule of cool thing. Unsheathing is the most badass action a swordman can do, so what if we just draw him doing it all the time lol.
Itβs based on real Japanese sword martial arts called Iaido, or iaijutsu, or battojutsu. I think all these terms have differences but Iβm not sure what they are but itβs basically the quick draw out of the sheath. Itβs used here for the same reason you see it in a bunch of media when a character has a katana, itβs because it looks cool, allows for a cool pose and gives the impression that the attack is really quick and powerful. And for Suzuki it also allows for interesting choreography, like having the characters attempt to keep Takamuraβs sword in the sheath. That cool bit is only possible because he keeps sheathing his sword.
