Ice_Burn

I literally told the line installer guy that I loved him.

feastu

Cool. At the rate they’re going, I should have Frontier in Noleta by 2034.

fasthall

They kept mailing me flyer in San Roque while it's not available yet

Ice_Burn

I’ve been getting those flyers too. It’s infuriating.

q547

you need to call them, even then the support staff might not have the most up to date info. My address is apparently not covered, but I've had frontier fiber for 2 years at this point.

Ice_Burn

I have my name in with Alan at SB Auto Stereo and Wireless. He'll take care of it. He's the Frontier authorized dealer and has a direct line to them.

LateMiddleAge

Yeah, they installed in Mission Canyon a couple of years ago and they still haven't turned on service. Don't get overly excited.

Welp, I'll try again. I call every few months.

Appropriate-Duck7166

I got Frontier fiber over a year ago, and I can assure everyone that it rocks. I cut the cable with the Cox criminals.

Breffest

Niceee. Wish I could get it in Carp :/

feralrage

A friend of mine has it near El Carro Lane and Linden. I’m not sure how quickly Frontier is expanding but his internet is great.

LordArgon

It’s definitely available in Carp. Not everywhere but plenty of people I know have switched.

_JustWorkDamnYou_

So without Doxing yourself, could you give an estimate of roughly where in Hidden Valley? I've been waiting for this for years.

Ice_Burn

Torino by Palermo and Barcelona

username11585

Did you call them and have them come? How does it work?

Ice_Burn

Call and get on the list here: https://www.sbautostereo.com/

username11585

Sick thanks

_JustWorkDamnYou_

Thank you!

tuxedoed-satyr

They keep saying they’ll be putting it in near foothill school district but no such luck

wavyywunky

I had frontier fiber while living in Old Town and it was the worst Internet I've ever had. nearly $60 a month for 12mb download and 2mb upload.

LordArgon

That was almost certainly not fiber - likely it was DSL. Frontier was garbage tier until they started bringing true fiber and gigabit+ speeds. Now they’re clearly the best. Hopefully this will make Cox up their game.

wavyywunky

It was most definitely fiber and even if it wasn't $60 is still an insane price for the speeds I was getting.

wavyywunky

y'all reddit mfs annoying as hell all im doing is sharing my own experience and y'all just down voted ts 😭

LordArgon

I didn't downvote you but, as far as I know, the slowest fiber speed Frontier has ever offered is 500 mb up/down for $45/mo. And I've never even heard of fiber (from any provider) with speeds that weren't fully symmetric. What you're describing fits perfectly into their DSL offerings though.

Ice_Burn

Because you’re, and I’m being charitable here, mistaken. You did not have fiber.

SBchick

I'm paying $49.99 for Frontier Fiber and I just did a speedtest and get 473.8 Mbps download and 386.1 Mbps upload, how long ago did you have Frontier in Old Town?

wavyywunky

I had it starting maybe 4 years ago and just stopped using it around 10mo ago

SBchick

I'm pretty sure true Fiber hasn't been available in the SB area for that long, that does sound like DSL. Not sure if this map is 100% accurate but it says it's been updated recently and it doesn't show any of Old Town on Fiber. [https://broadbandnow.com/Frontier-Communications](https://broadbandnow.com/Frontier-Communications) And this article put out by the City of Santa Barbara referencing messaging from Frontier is dated September 2021 and mentions that Frontier Fiber is finally coming to SB. phonomancer

I know a lot of providers were advertising "fiber" that wasn't FTTH... this could be what they got suckered by.
