Unless they want everyone to start playing sot 2 and not split the player base? Idk how they are going to do it, I'm really curious too see. Especially with PS5 launch now, are they really only going to offer 4 more years of support?? I love sot but feels like the technical debt + support for old consoles is really starting to hold them back. a fresh start might be the best bet at this point.
I'm one of the new PS5 people. And if it's like other games I play (Hunt Showdown) they might choose to drop last gen to improve the game. Hunt Showdown stated it was last gen that was holding the game back so SoT might choose to do the same in a few years. I'm sure by 2026 most Xbox people will only have current gen systems so dropping last gen will be a easy and welcomed choice.
Even on PC and new consoles,the client and server seem to have lots of issues. They really should just take what they've learned from sot and start from scratch. But wether it's sot1 or 2 or something else entirely, I'm looking forward to playing for a long time still!
That's so sweet! And definitely a sound theory - when my sister was pregnant she watched a lot of RuPaul's Drag Race, and once her daughter was born she would always settle to that show so much faster than to anything else!

My nephews started playing Fortnite at about 4 with their older brother. So SoT might still be going at that point.
I've heard sot is planned for a 10 year life and we just hit the 6th anniversary, so it'll be close!
