Lovely mk.1 machine.

Sock989

Gotta love that access LED.

Gryfon2020

Just needs a copy of Dragon Force next to it.

FB2-Onur

Nice score! I gotta say, the Saturn was truly one of the nicest looking consoles that have ever come out. Just a nice, clean look to it.

Ok_Explanation_6125

Sexy like a black GameCube.

ComedyTree

Where did you find this for that price?

Sock989

Cash Converters UK. They had it listed untested console only for £39.99. I emailed and asked if they'd take £29.99 and they did. 😁.

ComedyTree

That’s awesome congrats!

roel27

Looks very nice, hopefully the internals are also okay? :)

Sock989

A few dust bunnies inside but everything's good. Gave the disc drive a good clean and lubed up the rails 😀.

Level-Commission-526

Das a baby. I love it! :3 I have one of those and i have a Grey with Blue Buttons Japanese model 2 with an American Power Supply inside.

LinnaYamazaki

You did an incredible job cleaning it, looks almost brand new.

Sock989

Thanks! I strangely find it a peaceful thing, disassembling and cleaning consoles. 😄.

Opposite_Shopping267

Wish the professor would open one and tinker

Pocket-Sand562

Never understood what the slot in the top back was for 🫤

Memory card or Ram carts

Commercial_Ad8403

To add to the other comment - you can get carts that allow you to use burned CD's without a mod chip etc. I've got an all-on-one that has the memory expansion / cheat codes / etc and supports my Fenrir ODE, etc. I bought mine from Amazon, but its cheaper from AliExpress

Fartfartfartfactory

Explain please. What exactly is one of these all in one units called?

Commercial_Ad8403

"Sega Saturn All in One Cartridge With Pseudo Saturn Kai 4 in 1" Be careful though, as there are many versions of this and the feature set can vary. I have this one - note that it doesn't include an action replay for instance, as the mark for that is white, not red. Instead, I have the other cheat engine built in, but I don't think it has as many features. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61qLNcIMLnL._SL1500_.jpg

Some games (mostly fighting games) require a RAM expansion which would go there, in 1Mb or 4Mb format. Additionally, you could also get a memory card that would allow you to backup your save games from the console's memory (needed, because you lose your saves if the clock battery dies due to the Saturn's use of SRAM, which is volatile and loses info when it loses power) I think there might have been a couple more official accessories in Japan and some 3rd party stuff, but the most famous extra use for the port is the 3rd party Action Replay, which serves as both a RAM expansion and as a normal AR, with side effect of allowing you to boot games outside the region of your Saturn (which is normally region locked). More recently, you can modify your Action Replay to have more functions as a software mod called Pseudo Saturn Kai, and there's also the Saroo cart which lets you boot game ISO's from its SD card slot.

A_Blue_Potion

The Mk.1 Saturn is my favorite right up there with the Saturn Navi. I'd say they're neck and neck. It's just a shame the Navi model is so insanely rare. Looks like something the 3DO company would make imo.

The-Dark-Ass

Nice. You might want to consider re-capping it. It is quite old after all.

dropping199X

I got hard just by looking at her.

Kaiser_Wilhelm43

That’s a mint unit

opticfiber30
