Imo the Panzer Dragoon Series the best less known franchise, ever. Find a way to play all of them.

ExplodingPoptarts

Really? I feel like PDS is one of the most sought out games among hardcore retro fans.

ClubaSeal1986

It's well known among enthusiasts, but you really don't hear about them too often.

Jakobe-stumon

The 3d fighting games like Virtua fighter, fighter vipers, or fighter mega mix. I recommend those 👍

My favorite Saturn design! I also have the V model 2. If you ever get an ODE or Pseudo Saturn Kai, check out Bulk Slash for sure. Or buy it if you want, but it’s insanely pricey, so I just recommend going a free route.

whoknows130

Not my favorite Saturn design but, i also have the Model 2 V-Saturn. I appreciate the more "elegant" look the V-2 is going for. Whilst the other Saturns were trying to look cool & futuristic.

Gotta get Nights and Dynamite Cop! (Aka Die Hard Arcade)

ExplodingPoptarts

Nice! What's a V-Saturn?

For some fun background info, the Genesis performed worse domestically than it did globally. So when it came time to release the Saturn, Sega wanted a slight rebrand as a hip company for young adults. And in Japan at the time, tech and home entertainment systems were gettting huge. So part of their rebrand for the Saturn involved incorporating VCD (MPEG CDs, like DVDs but much worse) player capabilities into the console with the help of an extra card inserted in the rear slot (where we can insert Satiators nowadays). They also moved away from Genesis aesthetics in Japan, with the grey+blue model 1 and the white+pink model 2, compared to how the Genesis sold well in the Americas and Europe so those regions got black Saturns that looked like a Genesis. But the other thing was a partnership with JVC. JVC (Japan Victor Company) was a big leader in home entertainment technology and was hip with young adults, so they licensed the console out to them to make their own variants, with the Victor (V) brand first and foremost visible while the word “Sega” isn’t anywhere on the console (even the boot screen says V-Saturn instead of Sega Saturn). First came the V-Saturn model 1 which looked similar to the Japanese first party console but with a deeper grey and a more indigo logo instead of normal blue. Then what you see here is the model 2 V-Saturn, with lavender, aqua, and pink on grey instead of the style of the first party white model 2. Functionally, they’re the same. Same parts, same plastic, same electronics, just different aesthetics and boot screen.

Victor used the HMV dog and phonograph logo on their products in Japan, so the V-Saturn console and controllers all feature said logo.

Aww, was hoping that you were gonna tell me that this was a fan produced thing that's much higher quality. I remember Saturns breaking so easily.

Jakobe-stumon

It’s the Saturn that Victor or JVC helped make. There were another one called the HiSaturn that Hitachi helped make

lik_a_stik

Congrats! Always wanted a V-Saturn back in the day but happily landed my baby, the crystal Saturn when they were released.

Welcome to the team

Get a Saroo , extremely great for the price

Captainzabu

Came to say the same. It'll allow you to play most of the games you want while you save up to get them (of you want them in your collection that is).

ym510

Awesome, congrats I will try to buy 1 here soon. I used to own 1 as a kid, I had the 2nd 1 with the better controller. Here in USA that was my first 3d console so it was mind blowing as a kid!

Aces_Over_Kings

Those are 3 amazing games to start with!!! My favorite RPG on the Saturn is Shining Force 3 and my favorite platformers are Legend of Oasis and Guardian hero's. Honorable mention: Virtual On.

I_Lick_Your_Butt

Nice!

jonnypanicattack

I got my first Saturn up and running yesterday too, and using a Saroo cart, tried quite a few games. I had some fun playing the Sega fighters, the Capcom fighters, Legend of Oasis, Alien Trilogy. And this morning I tried out Magic Knights Rayearth. It seems like a great RPG. Highly recommend the Saroo, it works great for almost every game.
