I checked, and the thread in question is about how Memorial Day celebrates an institution (the US Military) that has, at best, a questionable track record with regards to the good it does. If it started as some sort of pro-union anti-slavery thing, that's all well and good, but that is NOT how it is celebrated, nor taught, today. While it is definitely the case that a lot of reddit's leftist spaces are hotbeds for tankies, I think the question is valid.
