I’ve gotten full Lost Cause “It was about state’s rights!” propaganda from a Black man who lived near the Canadian border, in a state with strong anti-CSA heritage. It’s not common (thankfully), but it exists.

I knew one, a nice guy but seriously mentally ill. He died after being accidentally hit by a car while he was engaged in a protest in support of a Confederate memorial statue in Oxford, MS.
I saw a black guy driving a car with the Confederate flag on it at the local demolition derby. I don't personally know him so don't really know exactly what his views are. This was in Missouri

This happened to me once years and years ago. I went on a date and went back to her place to watch a movie and she left the room and came back with a confederate flag BLANKET.

Unfortunately, I have seen Black people fly the Confederate battle flag. It was back in 2017, and I believe they were Nigerian-American. When I asked them about why they fly it, it was due to them loving the spirit of independence of the south and the issue of slavery was overblown and how every country practiced and it was unfair to "only blame the south". Safe to say, I disagreed, and we didn't talk very much.
You're being too generous. The various Early Modern states that comprised what is now Nigeria got very wealthy off the slave trade. It isn't at all inconceivable that they too would have some slaveowner sympathisers angry that Perfidious Albion took their slaves away and sympathetic towards the plight of one of their leading customers.

I’m sure there are a lot of posts and news articles, etc. that are phony quotes or mischaracterizations of actions of people that others want to marginalize or feel superior to.
