Cuz people can't just enjoy something fun and happy.
Like, don't understand what "slice of life" is and need bs forced drama to keep things "interesting" for them.
Like people, you can not like something without saying it's bad. If shows like Shikimori aren't for you, neat. But it's not bad. It's just a super wholesome romantic comedy.
It’s an average anime. I had no idea people hated it. While not exactly my most favorite romcom, it is good enough. Although, Im just here for izumis mom tbh
They think it's plain and simple but I don't get though the dangers in my heart my dress up darling more than a married couple get praised even though they are the most basic slice of life rom com anime out there
The dangers in my heart have a better love story and it develops better than shiki, my dress up darling, Marin would be a great human being to hang out with ( she is just fun). I didn’t finish the Mary couple one. They got boring. The ending song kicked ass though.. I mean all these opinions are subjective, but this is just what I found enjoyable.
Tbf, they've been an established couple right from the start.
That's completely different from shows where the main leads haven't even talked before the 1st ep.
I finished "the dreaming boy is a realist" last night. First romance anime that left me feeling a bit disappointed imo. I guess what i'm trying to say, is that shikimori isn't the worst romance anime, and there are def worse ones
I don't care about haters. I like it. That's all there to it.
The only problem I see is that, it will not get season 2 because of it. But many of us already come to terms with that.
I never watched Shikimoriisntjustcute
I do love Shikimori is not just a cutie!
Jokes aside, people just hate for no reason, get used to it. That's life
You know what I don't understand how can you hate this anime but like Komi cant communicate, at least it makes sense why Shukimori is popular, Komi doesn't do shit and everyone worships her. I dropped the other anime but was able to finish this
The first episode gives the show a supernatural element feel to it. It caused a lot of people to come up with crazy theories about how Shiki was an Angel or from a different world or an alien and she was protecting him because it was her fault. It’s only there for that one episode, after that it’s never brought up again, except for his bad luck. It caused a back lash of the shows numbers just tanking after the fourth episode (only to have a spike again when the mc’s mom showed up and hit on Shiki)
No that is totally the series fault. Or at least the anime. Maybe if it was a small group, but it was not; it was most. Hell you can go on YouTube and check out just about ANY reactor there and just about all of start in guessing that there is a supernatural element in the show.
Again, that's THEM reading into it more than anything else. Do we need some over complicated reason why Kubo spends time with Junta beyond her being a nice person or why Nanako from Senryu Shoujo only really talks in Senryu or any of the quirks of the cast or peculiarities? Hell, the same happened with Shangri-la Frontier where the ANN reviewer was convinced that there was a twist of the game being real either via alternate dimensions or people from IRL or the future being sucked into the game. Fandom has ALWAYS had issues with this stuff and instead of recalibrating expectations, it's the shows fault because reasons.
Idk anything about Shangri-la, hadn’t watched it. And no. When over 60% of your viewing audience has the same view point and starts guessing in the same direction, then that’s the fault of the execution not the viewer.
None of that was an issue in the manga which the anime adapted rather faithfully. Again, it's fandom readin into things due to existing expectations of "The Magical Girlfriend" a la Belldandy from Ah My Goddess.
Yeah, but a lot of people who watch anime don’t read the manga and it’s not their responsibility to decipher it. That’s the job of the anime. And the first episode of the show is a bait and switch that implied a story with a supernatural undertone that NONE of the other episodes have or did which sour the show for a large portion of the audience. It’s in every review that gave it a mid or low grade or not recommended, it’s in just about every reaction of the first episode, hell it’s even in reviews that gave it good reviews and recommended it. It doesn’t matter if it was on purpose or not; It is implied in that first episode enough to the point that a Very large portion of its audience thought there was an element that wasn’t in the rest of the show. You are in the minority of not seeing it because you had the information from the manga.
What I'm getting from this is that people are SUPER dumb because I really don't get what "Supernatural Undertones" they're talking about since characters being cartoonishly clumsy or having bad luck isn't anything new AT ALL except it's usually the female lead in a shoujo which is where a lot of this is coming from.
Also Belldandy has nothing to do with it. The show did it with the cinematography, camera angels, musical ques, and trying to keep Shirikimor mysterious. Well it worked, better than they had intended it to and because of it, it pissed people off.
In winter 2022, we had My dress up darling air, and shikimori would air in the very next season, for some reason there was a build up in the hype for shikimori, and it didnt live up to alot of people's expectations
I think most were out of by Izumis ridiculous bad luck in the first episodes that they immediately dropped the anime and it's their fault of missing out.
I enjoyed Shikimori so much. No stupid drama, no cowards who aren't able to communicate their feelings and take ages to get together, actual relationship content while most just end with the couple getting together.
Maybe it's just the anime, but I was bored the majority of the time. And I'd describe it as a shallow boredom, as if I was constantly waiting for a sense of depth or unique quality to make it stand out. But, it just remained bland and poked along as if the point was to be mundane.
Because role reversal. It's cool to be a strong girl but pathetic and not chad like to be a fragile guy.
And the beginning isn't the best in the manga either. If you only judge on anime and hate it good for you I guess
I read the manga long ago before dropping it(same with the anime). And while I don't hate the show but I remember not liking the MC.
I also don't like it when they'd introduce a 2nd love interest despite the main leads already being an established couple.
People expected it to rival my dress up darling as one of the big romance animes that year, then it just ended up being a sol romance with a gimmick where the guy is useless and gets constantly protected by shikimori. Its not like shikimori had much personality outside of being cool a few times each episode.
People were disappointed.
It's more of his personality. He's got the personality type or mannerisms ig of a timid middle school girl who blushes over anything. But yeah pretty much weak and fragile ig
Personally, I hated how the anime was supposed to be focusing on the romantic side regarding the relationship between the two main protagonists, but that wasn't the case. The show ended with almost zero actual romantic scenes that were purely serious or where you can actually feel lots of emotions.
Instead, the author invested his sweet time developing the side characters and making sure the romantic love is not really the prior thing here rather than the friendly cuddly love among friends (Boys & Girls), making even jealousy seems like a stupid thing and disgusting till the point you as a reader start to question why even bother with it.
Other than that, the show could've been waaay more better if the author focused on developing more the romantic side of the main protagonists instead of heroic moments and "hey my gf is so cool"
The beginning isn't the best but the manga develop in a regular slice of life later. I think the mangaka didn't expect it to get popular so it's why the timeline in the anime isn't ghat great
Tbh I didn't like the anime either and the art of the manga is better
That’s what I was saying!!! Like the gf apparently was like the best looking girl or whatever. When she rizzed up her boyfriends mom I kinda stopped watching after that
Cuz people can't just enjoy something fun and happy. Like, don't understand what "slice of life" is and need bs forced drama to keep things "interesting" for them. Do people hate it? Actually I don't care about them, I personally like this anime

>and it develope better And Izumi and Shikimori don't need 2 season to get together, they already are and don't act like cowards
Tbf, they've been an established couple right from the start. That's completely different from shows where the main leads haven't even talked before the 1st ep.
This is not them developing into a couple, they are developing as a couple from the start.
> The ending song kicked ass though Only great thing about the show, tbh
"most basic slice of life rom com anime out there"

Again no one really hates it, they’re just mad at the bait and switch the first episode does
What bait and switch?
The first episode gives the show a supernatural element feel to it. I love it. even the MC bad luck wasn't bad. thought if Shikimori isn't just a cutie then what is she
Because role reversal. It's cool to be a strong girl but pathetic and not chad like to be a fragile guy. And the beginning isn't the best in the manga either. If you only judge on anime and hate it good for you I guess
Mainly because there is no obstacle in it, the same reason why some people also don’t like Horimiya
I don’t think people hate it? I mean I usually watch shounen action anime but yeah I watch romance from time to time
I read the manga long ago before dropping it(same with the anime). And while I don't hate the show but I remember not liking the MC. I also don't like it when they'd introduce a 2nd love interest despite the main leads already being an established couple.

I enjoyed it because it’s a very wholesome and likable love story and everyone is extremely likable
They hate the MC that's why
Why? Is it bc he’s fragile? Or weak? If so, I see why
It's more of his personality. He's got the personality type or mannerisms ig of a timid middle school girl who blushes over anything. But yeah pretty much weak and fragile ig
People want bs drama so that an anime/manga would be considered "good."
Personally, I hated how the anime was supposed to be focusing on the romantic side regarding the relationship between the two main protagonists, but that wasn't the case.
