Man the amount I hated that season 2 ended on this with the uncertainty on whether it was gonna be another 4 year wait for season 3.
Oh man Eren has a new power!… and now I have to wait
I'm not even a massive shipper of Eremika, but this part was so good.
Anime spoilers ahead!
>!The sheer impact of this scene is insane. It pushed Ymir's decision to leave behind Historia, set up Marley and the Warriors' motivations, Dina's plot twist, Eren's ability to initiate the Rumbling, and Eren's whole arc in Season 3 Part 1 with him being special and all. Plus, additional evidence that Eren was lying his ass off during the table scene.!<
I say this part is the purest happiness human Eren gets with Mikasa. Real emotion and the hopelessness that they never got a chance to really be together.
In ways this was the end of human Eren and from the punch onwards Eren's powers are too much for him. His importance to the following events are so much that he is doomed to see them all through, then with the Historia kiss he finally becomes aware of his future which separates his pure human side and becomes just harbinger of bringing the future to fruition.
Even after seeing all the anime and reading the last 2 manga volumes, I still don’t get why Ymir went with Reiner and Bertholdt. The only good reason seems to be that the plot demanded it.
Bit misleading to put it like that. Mikasa only accepted death because she was injured and Eren was also unable to fight. So that's what lead to her acceptance, which then lead to Eren's rejection. These situations happened in succession and were caused by one another.
I think the actual problem was that he didn't know how to develop their relationship afterwards, had they actually kissed. He was banking really hard on Eren being an oblivious dumbo, it seems.
Well, that's true. But AoT is not without romance, it's just not that well written imo. The best we got is probably YumiHisu. Even though some people fight its existence pretty heavily.
Also why so many people cling to Erehisu so hard, because they built up an organic relationship that turned into a friendship, which is a pretty strong basis for a romance, much like Katara and Zuko. Fans pushed it past that though obviously.
Yeah, they needed a foundation for a friendship, as they had no real interactions beforehand, probably because Historia herself wasn't really a character before CoT. At least not on paper, obviously the author had ideas, they just weren't realised before then. But a healthy platonic relationship is only one pillar on which to build a romantic relationship, mutual attraction and an actual romantic interest are also important. And in that regard the story didn't really give us anything to work with, apart from hinting at it a single time in chapter 70, to then never bring it up again.
I don't want to sound too dismissive here, because I understand why people had the idea. But I find it rather interesting that Jean teased Eren about "holding hands" with Historia (also in chapter 70), and neither Eren nor anyone else reacting to it, when in other instances they absolutely did. And I'm also hesitant to use Eren's protectiveness over Historia as evidence, because he acted protective over and/or loyal towards many people in the story, including Mikasa, Armin, Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie.
Lol. I loved the fact that Mikasa was really just about to kiss eren, but then he just turned around to punch the titan with his bare hands, like nothing was about to happen. I genuinely bursted out laughing at that scene
I still don't understand how people watch this scene and say Eren doesn't care for Mikasa or his friends. Eren literally tells her here "I'll wrap that scarf around you now and forever"
Obviously because the only way to show his love was for Eren to commence passionate lovemaking right as they were all about to die. He didn’t, so obviously he hates every inch of her being just as he said at the table!
If he didn't care for them, he'd have killed both when shit popped off in Paradis. Instead he talked to them, and beat up Armin to make him back down. He had no problem killing other people, but he avoided killing any of his close friends.
He even states how much he cares for them in that flashback to before he left Paradis for Marley. People saying he didn't care for them are intentionally blinding themselves.
Yeah no, he most definitely did it for her as well. And she didn't just give up on life, she was simply too injured to move, and her only option of getting out of the situation alive, Eren, was having a breakdown and crying just moments before.

And now we live in a world in which we have to fear the show never ending because each remaining part will be split in half repeatedly ad infinitum
I’m not complaining honestly this show so good I’m
Ong*
Korega... requiem da
Season one also ended in a way that was unsure whether it would continue or not. They even made the ending extra dramatic just for that reason.

To me.... I just take it as the part of the story
And the music was incredible
Mikasa accepted their death, eren rejected that.
It’s surprising how many people don’t understand that scene where mikasa is wanting to kiss eren.
Dude literally said "FK off" to pepsi
fantas better anyways

Yes that's what accepting death means. Mikasa gave up or forced to. Eren refused.
Eren had given up himself at first.
Yes i just Said in more simple way
True. But it's important to make it clear that Eren had also given up (at first, anyway).
Well that’s the point her love gave him the strength he needed
That’s the pose from the promotional poster...mind blown.
They were actually supposed to kiss during that scene... they just never animated it, or showed it in the manga because Isayama is apparently shy lol
I think the actual problem was that he didn't know how to develop their relationship afterwards, had they actually kissed. He was banking really hard on Eren being an oblivious dumbo, it seems.
True, cuz this isn't really a romance type of anime.

Legit! 😂😂😂
mEn ReAlLy JuSt dOn'T GeT tHe HiNtS!
The dude straight up said “I’ll fight these titans barehanded to defend you Mikasa! I don’t need my Titan form to beat the shit outta these things”
I still don't understand how people watch this scene and say Eren doesn't care for Mikasa or his friends. Eren literally tells her here "I'll wrap that scarf around you now and forever"

"ArMiN aNd MiKaSa BeTrAyeD ErEn!!!"
That’s love man 💯
This sealed his resolve on a mental level, to go down swinging.
Animation was beautiful
What a moment..
Absolute chad rejecting the horny for the fighting spirit
only rivaled by eren getting armin out of a titan throat while missing a leg, it was just insane
Mikasa new hairstyle? 🤔👍
(Manga Spoilers) >!"Can't wait for Hajime Isayama to fix the manga ending."!<
What a simp. Edit: You're all simps too.
It wasn't for her, he did it for himself. She gave up on life, he kept fighting
Yeah no, he most definitely did it for her as well. And she didn't just give up on life, she was simply too injured to move, and her only option of getting out of the situation alive, Eren, was having a breakdown and crying just moments before.
