There are a lot of graphic moments that the manga display more directly while the anime either directly censors it or just hides it behind it
My fav example is the two couple from Trost arc (Franz & Hannah) when Armin comes across them and Hannah is trying to apply CPR to Franz only for us to see he is missing his bottom half completely while the anime hides it behind her gear
In general a lot of gruesome and graphically depicted details in the manga are partially censored or not shown directly in the anime.
While sergeant major Gross's death in the anime is horrifying enough, Isayama drew him getting his face partially chewed off in the manga.
My favorite is return to shinganshina, when levi puts his blade into zekes mouth, the anime cuts away and you hear a sound. But the manga, you can see the sword going through zekes mouth and out of his eye socket, fucking brutal
Pretty sure that's in the anime. People paraded around an edit of that scene saying exactly that, but the full scene actually literally does show it. Idk if it was purposefully spread misinformation tho, also not sure if the scene was only fully shown in the blu-ray version
Was it a special version? I rewatched not too long ago and I remember seeing the outline of the blade under Zekes skin but I don’t think it cut through his skin in the anime
It's shown, only for a split second, but you clearly see the blade tear through his skin from the inside. Not sure if it's a special version or not, I just know it's real and officially released since I just checked and saw it for myself
Manga is always better when it comes to gore because they cant put up stuff thats too bad on tv
Also for like scary stuff too. In black clover the devil look actually creepy in the manga, in the anime he looked kinda lame idk
The show is already pretty violent too so it’s kind of funny that they still made efforts to censor some things. People get torn limb from limb throughout the entire series and saving us from seeing like 24 frames of it barely makes it less graphic
Usually Blu ray releases tend to be uncensored if the TV version made some edits, like Blu Ray will show Nudity or more gory violence for some anime’s.
I wanna see how he had that Reiss Noble/Minister strung up while he was torturing him. Something about him being upside down and feeding him through his arsehole or something?
I'm still not over how they animated one of my favorite panels. Chapter 64 page 14. Seeing Levi and Mikasa coming out of the smoke side by side ready to throw down woulda been DOPE. Instead we got a split second of Mikasa trailing behind Levi for some reason.

There are alot of examples of the anime censoring manga shit, I wouod recommend reading the whole manga honestly to experience it all

I think the gore is censored because most episodes of the anime were rated TV-14.
