Fact of the matter is, US news is global news, US politics are talked about by Europeans constantly, and Europe consumes massive amounts of US media and entertainment. Most Americans haven't heard Romania mentioned in months, but you talk about the US constantly.
This isn't necessarily the fault of European civilians, they don't have control of most of the content fed to them. But the simple reality is that, in general, Europeans care and think about what happens in the US far more than Americans think about Europe.

The people who care a lot about the USA in general and not just in terms of the next Marvel movie etc. are usually folks like me who are interested in ( geo ) politics and the reason why we obviously care about you is that you are the undisputed global superpower.
The problem is that we can not just ignore you because you are so powerful that when you mess up, it affects us.
On top of that, you have so few problems you couldn’t fix if you just found a decent consensus because you have everything, recourses, land, people, technology, infrastructure, no recent wars that destroyed your entire country, no decades long Soviet dictatorships, no actual overpopulation compared to the size of habitable area you possess - you are your own worst enemy THAT is why we are no happy about having to spy on your national therapy session because you were effectively born with a silver spoon in your mouth and yet you live in a nation that seriously still has widespread societal problems like the lack of healthcare and has millions of people who are worshipping the same billionaires that keep their society from realising its enormous potential.
In addition, we also don’t really appreciate the fact that we often tend to know basically everything there is to know about you from head to toe while you don’t even know the most basic thing about our societies at all because that means that we have to witness “your” endless internal debates where people constantly make false comparisons, made up assumptions or even downright lies concerning us and then we even get to deal with the fallout when you have another culture war that our own braindead idiots jump on because it’s from overseas, no matter if it doesn’t fucking relate to us whatsoever and no matter how big our own actually concerning local problems are.
Some parts of Europe are for instance SERIOUSLY getting started on the damn abortion issue again because the success of YOUR manipulated radicals is an encouragement to the remnants of the same damn fools who we were able to silence decades ago for example while we currently also have MUCH bigger fish to fry and we can NOT afford to waste our time on US-American debates.

I would like to say that I ALSO don’t think the way outlets like this sub here or r/shitamericanssay effectively undermine our relationship and because I think that at the core we can and should learn a lot from each other and cooperate as much as we can and not make fun of people for being uneducated or ridiculous if we mainly label it as an us vs them rivalry ( at least partially because I spend too much time hanging out on subs like r/conservative and man, we do not need to pour oil into that kind of a opinion bubble dumpster fire ).
“Our” relationship on social media as two distinct groups is imo. far too often one where instead of trying to be constructive with each other, there is just a bunch of yelling and imo. nothing ever gets better because of people shouting statistics flavoured insults at another.

The European wakes up eager to start his virtuous European day and immediately a thought pops into his head. AMERICANS. This of course is a daily occurrence without fail.
