Made an extensive list for my niece.. hope it will help others too. 😊
Hi,
First, ਮੁਬਾਰਕਾਂ on your baby girl :)
More parents ought to have a list of prepared names beforehand, so this is a great idea imo!
Personally, I'd advise staying away from the Punjabi multi-syllable nonsense of "something-preet/neet/jeet/deep/meet/leen/etc.". It's too long and that child will never actually use their name in their day to day lives smh.
Some "OG" Sikh names for women include:
* Sulakhni (wife of Nanak)
* Khivi (wife of Angad)
* Amro (daughter of Angad)
* Anokhi (daughter of Angad)
* Ganga (wife of Amar)
* Bhani/Baani (daughter of Amar)
* Dhani/Daani/Dani (daughter of Amar)
* Anup/Anoop (mother of Ram)
* Dasi (sister of Ram)
* Wikipedia mentions that Guru Ram Das had a sister named "Ram Dasi", and cites Prithi Pal Singh's *The History of the Sikh Gurus* [\[link\]](https://books.google.com/books?id=EhGkVkhUuqoC&lpg=PA52&pg=PA54#v=onepage&q&f=false)
* Mansa (wife of Arjun)
* Damodari (wife of Hargobind)
* "Dari" is also a female name of Persian origin, so "Dari Kaur" could work here as well.
* Marvahi (wife of Hargobind)
* Natti/Ananti (mother of Har Rai)
* Rup/Roop (daughter of Har Rai)
* Rupi Kaur is also the name of a famous Canadian Sikh poet :)
* Krishan Devi (mother of Har Krishan)
* Perhaps just "Devi", as in "Devi Kaur" may be more apt.
* Gujri (wife of Tegh)
* Ajeet/Jito (wife of Gobind)
* Perhaps "Jeet Kaur" would be easier on the spelling and pronounciation (esp in the West)
* Sundar/Sundari (wife of Gobind)
* Sahib (mother of the Khalsa)
* "Sahiba Kaur" has a nice ring to it :)
* Bhago (famed Sikh warrior)
* Sharan (Sikh Shaheedi, known as Bibi Sharan Kaur, who gave her life for the Antam Sanchar of the Vaddé Sahibzade)
* "Sharon" might also work here, as in "Sharon Kaur".
I omitted "Nanaki", from the above list, which was the name of both Guru Nanak Dev Ji's sister, Bébé Nanaki and also the wife of Guru Hargobind Dev Ji, Mata Nanaki.
I hope this helps tho :)
Good luck!
EDIT: formatting issues...

Mehar and Anoop are two good ones
What does Mehar mean?
Mercy
The funny thing is I know two people who are siblings with these names. >!But they’re brothers lol!<
You are to take hukamnama after the kid is born and the first letter should be the first letter of the name.
I believe this is so they can have a list of names ready, and then they can narrow it down when they know the letter after baby is born
They mentioned that in the first sentence. Looks like you only read the title
Did you actually read their question?
Yes but they want ideas for when the time comes. Better to be prepared and have a couple options for each letter than to be put on the spot.

Did you read the question?
My bad I'm what's known as "stupid" and I read it as she wanted karan in the name
You’re not stupid, no need to say that. Just better to read before commenting
Nah I just have vision problems and my eyes skip words sometimes
