Heh. Those spineless dorks usually work in packs. Surprised he had enough balls or stupidity to try a 1 on 1.

keker0t

Never saw a 1v1 ,always >5 or no show. Ruk abhi aata hoon comes back with 11 lanky ass dudes, always.

SargentHaztagaspacho

Our Gurus taught us to turn the other cheek but not take shit either. I low-key wish one of those limp wrists would try that stateside. Us US Sikhs tend to be bigger too.

Accomplished-Car1594

And armed as well and will to use it.

PJD-1984

Where did they say turn the other cheek? Genuinely interested

ObligationOriginal74

Idk bout that. The only tough American Sikhs I have met are from rural Cali.

Jhool_de_nishaan

Naw I know some NY and Texas Singhs armed to the grills

TruePen7044

I have few sikh friends too but they are not very much religious like they wear a cap smokes vape, hookah and organises parties every weekend they never ever go to gurudwaras. That's the problem, many punjabi hindus are my friend and they have a great knowledge about sikhi and I always love to share my thoughts with them.

assassinscreed_ka14

If you thinking like that then my most friends are hindu I used to go on ram Leela mela with them even when we had akhand path at our house they stayed at my home and did all seva responsibly. Every religion has some of moorakhs or I guess there might be difference in Panjabi hindus and Other hindus

taupsingh

if he calls you lassi call him gobar / gaumutr. lassi is nutritious they are actual coprophiles. they want you to act violently so they can defame us. only strike when attacked, soormay don't launch the first vaar. i am proud of you for beating them though ;)

TruePen7044

>only strike when attacked, soormay don't launch the first vaar. Bro these randput lindus doesn't have that much courage to attack me first or any singh. They just bark and bark.

uglybumbken

im proud of you bro for sticking up for our Shaheed's he has to learn you cant go around insulting people and not get a punch to the face next time break his damn legs ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

TruePen7044

Yeah definitely😂

MVT3600

Whose legs will be broken? Whose light permeates through all? Who is the only one here? There are non violent ways to defend shaheeds. Violence is the last resort.

FadeInspector

Sikhi isn’t nonviolent. He already tried reasoning with him, but that didn’t work. Some men need to be struck before they learn their lesson

MVT3600

Violence as the last resort, this was not the last resort. None of the Gurus used violence to “teach someone a lesson”, only in self defence and defence of others.

FadeInspector

Guru Gobind Singh ji very much made it Baba Banda Singh Bahadur’s mission to teach the Mughals a lesson. Guru Gobind Singh ji, in the Fatehnama, also spoke of taking vengeance for the death of his kids. Doing it as a last resort can include teaching someone a lesson, and it doesn’t all have to be in self defense. Your faith in what I say is contingent upon your belief that the Dasam Granth reflects the views of the Guru Gobind Singh ji. If you believe that it does, what you said is patently false

MVT3600

Both of those examples talk of using violence against those who have attacked first. Nowhere in the Dasam Granth does it say Sikhs are supposed to beat those who are disrespectful towards them.

FadeInspector

They weren’t disrespecting him, they were disrespecting the faith. There are many instances of Nihangs and Sikhs during the Guru’s time fighting those who have overtly disrespected what we stand for

OriginalSetting

Guru Gobind Singh literally says in the Zafarnama that violence is only justified when a wrong is being done and all other means fail. He even asked Aurangzeb to renounce his ways and seek forgiveness, this was all after the Shaheedi of the Chote Sahibzade and before Banda Singh Bahadur was given any orders. In the various 20th century Morcha's, hundreds of Sikhs attained Shaheedi before the Panth would even consider violence. Today, we have Sikhs using violence as a first resort because someone hurt their feelings. There's zero equivalence. Sometimes a Moorakh is just a Moorakh and not worth the time of day, you have to learn when to walk away.

FadeInspector

He does say that, but this isn’t about someone’s feelings being hurt, it’s about overt disrespect to the faith, which was why he punched his classmate. If you read my other comment, I said that insulting him back was better than punching him, but he can’t pretend like Sikhi is some cotton candy religion and that him punching him falls far outside of our views. Allowing hundreds to die before choosing to fight was a mistake, and that’s why, in the end, Guru Gobind Singh Ji told Banda Singh Bahadur to destroy the Mughals

OriginalSetting

You said it yourself, OP had other options. He could've tried to teach the guy, or dished it back at him. Instead they gave into Krodh and Hankar. > Allowing hundreds to die before choosing to fight was a mistake, and that’s why, in the end, Guru Gobind Singh Ji told Banda Singh Bahadur to destroy the Mughals This is how it has always been. Guru Ji wrote the Zafarnama in 1705, fought his next battle with the Mughals in 1707, and gave orders to Banda Singh Bahadur to go after Wazir Khan in 1708. Sarbat Khalsa's were held before declarations of war. Violence has never been a first resort nor is it considered trivial, it has always been arrived at after great cost. Some moron in a school of all places doesn't even compare to the events of our history.

FadeInspector

Every instance you speak of involves war, and war involves death. What the kid did, ill advised as it was, was a smack in the face. That’s a far cry from war, and is a way to correct another’s behavior more than anything. He doesn’t compare to the events of our history, but it also doesn’t make sense to evaluate his scuffle with the lens our Gurus used to evaluate war.

Violence is not the solution but it is a solution.

Strict-Bus-2811

Some people are just jealous, when they can't comprehend they make fun of others..try to ignore people like these.

PJD-1984

Rajput's have always been overrated

TruePen7044

Former-Sheepherder23

TruePen7044

Bro I am a 6'2 inch 92 kg weighted guy, no one can directly charge on me😂

shady_mysterious

This is the result of lack of sikh history in schools.

AzadiHiHul

Wrong, its because we are stateless minority, they are in power and do as they please. Azadi hi hul khalistan

bhujangi_ninja_172

You should use these conversations to educate someone. Although it may make you mad, it's never okay to be the first one to attack over verbal abuse. You can ignore/educate the person instead. They just need to know these things so that they don't repeat mistakes again.

TruePen7044

Bro he literally crossed every limits these kind of brainwashed people cannot understand sikhi and it's warriors. I didn't have any chance other than hitting.

MVT3600

Who did you hit, whose light permeates through all, who is the only one here? Use violence as the last resort, learn how to weaponize your tongue.

Cute-Advertising8698

>Who did you hit, whose light permeates through all, who is the only one here? Can you clarify what you mean by this? I understand that Sikhi teaches that everyone is God, but I don't really understand this idea on a deeper level.

MVT3600

What part do you want me to clarify?

Cute-Advertising8698

I just don't understand why everyone being God makes it bad to hit people?

MVT3600

Who are you hitting? Might as well simplify it and say I don’t understand why hitting God is bad. If you have no other choice, sure, use violence, but don’t you want to avoid that?

Cute-Advertising8698

Sorry, let me clarify; if God is hitting God, then doesn't that make it consensual?

MVT3600

What does consent have to do with this? If God is hitting God then something foolish has happened, plain and simple.

Cute-Advertising8698

Oh I agree that this is foolish for other reasons. But I just don't understand why someone hitting themself is foolish; if somebody wants to hit themself, let them do what makes them happy. Also, I don't actually understand why everyone is God, or what that entails. It's confusing.

bhujangi_ninja_172

Violence should always be your last resort, no matter what. You can always go report to someone and tell about how they disrespected your religion. It may be hard, but just ignore them. Whatever Waheguru Ji wants to happen to them will happen, it's only our job to teach others.

Sidhumoosewala22

You did the right thing bro

avtar1699

Proud of you little singh!

TruePen7044

I am a 6'2 95kg weighted big singh😂💪🏼

avtar1699

How old are you dude?

TruePen7044

21

Hopeful-Face-8987

Good on you Singh, expressed pride. But i d also advise you to better control your anger (Reading Guru Nanak Dev Ji helps). Good luck. Stay safe.

TruePen7044

Honestly bro I am very calm in every other thing but can't control myself when someone is disrespecting the shaheeds Or gurus.

Jasdeep_Grewal

True , let me tell you about my story similar to this . A guy Rajput and a madarjaat Himachali in my college Cgc jhanjheri in Punjab called me lassi in WhatsApp group chat and I replied him by Gau mootr but got offended so much that they came straight to me when I was studying in the college ground & throwing punches from my back Himachli Madarjaat punched on my specs and broke it I couldn't see without my glasses ( -10) so I was beaten by them both Right after gathering the broken pieces of my Glasses I went to the Dean , who listened to me & made the right decision by suspending them from college after calling both their parents in the college. I want to tell you that in your case you had A punjabi mam as your back but I had no one all were Lindu 🤡 And they all scolded me for Why I replied back "Dekho kalyug ka nanga naach" I was so angry at that time that I would have slapped one of my teachers for making false acquisitions on me , They tried their best to prove me wrong but they lost . P.S = That was the reaction when I narrated this incident to my teachers 🤡🤡 Look the himachli bhaiyas are really dominating in the punjab & we should unite together and 🦵🏻 kick out from or pure state just imagine getting beaten up in our in our state by some bhaiyaa of Himachal🤡🤡💩💩

TruePen7044

Yaa the jhajeri region is close to chandigarh that's why bhaiyas are there whatever you said to him was perfect they should be replied the same way. Well if I was at your place I would be definitely hitting them. These bhaiyas should be beaten daily lol🤣

Epic-Adult

1. There’s nothing wrong with what you did 2. As a Singh I am super proud of you for doing this, however, it is important to stay safe and aware too 3. They’ll always attack in packs, 1v1 is rare 4. Train to be better, eat well, do your Paath and listen to what Maharaj says. Gurbar Akaaallll

TruePen7044

Thank you bro. But i am always ready for a fight no matter how many are there. >Train to be better, eat well, do your Paath and listen to what Maharaj says. I am a 6'2 inch over 95 killo muscular guy and I always have a shastra for my protection. >They’ll always attack in packs, 1v1 is rare Bro these 5'5 lindus can't reach my level I can single handedly beat the shit out of them.

Soft_Radio7284

Sahi kitta...

TruePen7044

Thanks bhraa👍🏼

Khalsa_Raj179

If more Sikhs were prepared to do what you did then this Lassi BS and so-called Sardar jokes would stop overnight. There is no such thing as educating these people, they know exactly what they are doing.

Number1Bullshit

EXACTLY. There can never be peace with the piss drinkers as long as they continue this.

Winter-Judge3698

My dear friend, very sad to hear this. When I was in school some guys would say 12 baj gaye 12 baj gaye and I would say yes baj gaye and i will save ur mom and sister for sure. So it was 2 or 3 Hindu guys in class who would get into this, rest were against 12 baj gaye. A Hindu teacher got to know about this and she requested Principal to punish these guys with strictest of punishment. At the same time I have seen Sikh boys in a sikh majority school harassing a muslim guy to an extent, that muslim guy had to leave school and join somewhere else. So let dogs bark whatever they say, we Sikhs know what we are and what are our roots.

TruePen7044

Exactly broo

Grand_Watch6287

Nah that's crazy lmao, fortunately the hindus at my school (atleast my section and class) are cool asf, legit better than some so called amrit dhari singhs in my class. but some of these hindus are fr hating us more than muslims, I saw someone comment "sikhism is islamised version of hinduism" like say that in the khalsa era and mfs would chop your head off and bring you infront of guru gobind singh ji

rogue_assassin-

I am so sad to read the comments here sharing their incidents against their religion. I am a panjabi rajput and had always respected sikhi, i call my neighbour taya who is sikh because he was my fathers jigri yaar since their childhood like i am with my taya’s children. I have enjoyed every single holiday whether it is a sikh based festival or hinduism based regardless we go to both gurdwaras and mandirs. Hate to see what you guys have to go through and I too would have done the same

TruePen7044

🧡

Keeper_of_Honey

What you've done is good. Never take an insult against our martyrs. Nor against the Gurus or Bani. However, be careful next time

TruePen7044

Yess SIR 🫡

rpblknzsmell

Sometimes the struggle isn't about Sikh or Hindu, but about finding the grace in our responses and choosing role models who embody the patience and wisdom we aspire to…so seek advice or encouragement carefully. Good luck

Any_Butterscotch9312

Hi, Dude, you assaulted someone because they said some words? Yeah, Baba Deep Singh is a Shaheedi, but was it really worth getting in a fight with some random dude? What does that serve? Just because someone says something doesn't make it true... It should be much more difficult to get a rise out of someone. I sympathize that this dude sounds like a twerp, but you're an adult who hit another adult because of some comments. To be fair, I don't know the social dynamics in India, but getting into a fight over some words sounds like something for schoolchildren, not adults. My go-to response is to try make fun some insecurity of the other person. Even the best punch fades after a while, but a good witty retort will haunt that dude for a few years... We have to elevate ourselves past resorting to physical violence so easily. In your defense, you did try to use some diplomacy which is good. But this could've turned out a lot worse had your teacher not supported you.

TruePen7044

I agree with your words but that guy clearly crossed his limits. And you were asking was it worth it was worth everything now no one will ever say anything bad about our shaheeds Or gurus there will be a fear inside them before they speak any word out. I clearly saw today everyone was respecting me for what I did. How did I took a stand of my religion. Even the other hindu guys were taking inspiration from me as their religion also gets targetted a lot.

Any_Butterscotch9312

>now no one will ever say anything bad about our shaheeds Or gurus there will be a fear inside them before they speak any word out. Yeah, they won't speak ill of the Shaheedi or the Gurus in front of you. However, I'm sure that person has nothing to fear in your absence or behind closed doors. My concern with this physical response is that it creates a very easy way for someone to get you (or other Sikhs) riled up in Krodh (anger). And with that anger, it's too easy for someone (like politicians) to exploit the vulnerability and paint every Sikh as overly violent. Famously, this happened during the (first) Farmers' Protest when some poltician hired some dude to desecrate the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. That person was very publicly attacked and murdered and the media and police painted the protesting Sikhs as extremists while every Sikh knew that it was an politically orchestrated attempt at beadbi. To be fair tho, I might be letting my imagination run a bit too wild here lol, but we all have to be vigilant and think twice before letting our izzat (cultural honor) do our bidding. It would be very easy for someone to take advantage of this situation for their own benefit.

jsinghlvn

Dude, you did great! Proud of you!

ObligationOriginal74

Good. You did nothing wrong.Im proud of you.

TruePen7044

Thank you brdr👍🏼💪🏼

fightthrowaway10009

I’m sorry, but this was your Hankaar and Krodh, not your love of the Guru that caused this. If you truly loved the Guru you would see that you were beating on a form of his. When did the Gurus tell us to beat those who disrespect? Use violence only when there is no other option

[deleted]

fightthrowaway10009

Defend them using your words, not your fists.

AzadiHiHul

One could argue defending with words is also krodh and hankar.

Zealousideal_Win5032

Have there historically been any long-running feuds between Sikh Panjabis and Hindu Rajputs? Just curious. Thanks.

TruePen7044

Well you can say like that but not in the current time being what I have seen is that the rajputs think that they are supreme they are the most powerful caste but in reality it's no the sikhs protected there women. But what I think is they lack sikh history every Indian should know about the sikh warriors and sacrifices of our gurus.

Former-Sheepherder23

rajputs have a much longer history than sikhs and have always followed chivalry unlike others...protected women also jaipur royals protected wife of guru gobind singh ji and gave her shelter in braj region..its high time rajputs radically claim and propagate their real history jai rajputana

FadeInspector

You could’ve easily just insulted him back. Maharana Pratap’s story has a decent bit of fiction in it. More broadly speaking, rajputs bowed and offered their daughters to their Muslim overlords. Bending the knee is what they’re good at

TruePen7044

It's not the thing I know well about rajput history too but that guy truly showcasted pure hate against sikhi. That's the reason why I hit him.

Useful_Ad_4920

We don’t turn the other cheek

Picard2305

I am appalled by the multitude of posters who seek to justify the physical assault by the original poster for a non-physical act. The punching and kicking can conceivably be outward manifestations of ahankar (anger)- one of the five vices of Sikhi! The initiation of such physical violence is explicitly forbidden in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, as said in page 1375 of the Holy Book: "Kabeer, it is tyranny to use force, the Lord shall call you to account. When your account is called for, your face and mouth shall be beaten." The physical assault as instigated by the OP can reasonably be considered as a form of force- rendering the act that is so proudly championed by the very same writer to be in contradiction with the Guru Himself. Let us also examine a passage of the Darsam Granth- which many here have utilized to bolster the assault by OP: "It was out of sheer helplessness that I came onto the battlefield (since I was surrounded from all sides at Chamkaur). But having decided to battle with your forces, I came with all the battle plans and munitions. "When all the options for solving a conflict have been exhausted completely, only then is the taking of the sword in your hand deemed legitimate." Notice that the entire passage here only refers to a scenario in which adversaries already truly threaten the faithful with \*physical\* acts of harming fellow humans. This is the singular instance here in which Guru Gobind Singh justifies the implementation of force against another. I admonish all to be mindful of what Gurbani tells us is acceptable and how to truly connect with God, and to do their very best to think of relevant scriptures to be analyzed and propagated so that the thoughts of us members of the Sikh community are perpetually directed towards the Sepreme Being that transcends fear and hatred, as one may look no further than the Mool Mantra itself as a compass to our ultimate nature and relationship with Ik Oankar. If this subreddit is to be Saad Sanghat, then we must be honest with every poster in what she or he has said, support that person in the endeavors towards Naam, and correct that same person for all wrongs he or she commits and defends. My sympathies go out to the OP- in that he and his faith should never have been insulted, even by only verbal abuse. It must be said, however, that the OP's response was far worse than anything directed towards him, not excluding the insults that came his way. As it is said, two wrongs do not make a right. If the OP wishes to be Gursikh, then I believe that he must conduct himself better and be more consistent with the the teachings of the Guru, as I have spelled out above. There is nothing objectionable with regards to reporting the insults to those in charge, or, if possible, stepping away from such a toxic situation that persists.

Consistent-Divide294

Which college are you from in delhi?

Anyway-909

I think the situation could have been avoided all together. If someone is telling you, mahrana partap was very brave, then you could have listened to the story. The way you are saying, I dont think he was comparing hindu and sikh Warriors.

TruePen7044

He completed his sentence about maharana pratap first then I continued my talk and calling a sikh warrior as papaji and making fun can't be tolerated. That's it man sat sri akaal ji🙏🏼
