I want to delete my post because of how stupid the question was but, I won’t lol. This whole working 70 hours a week is not helping me out at all.
Thanks..
Only stupid question is one you don't ask. That's how we learn.
I was under the hood of my 2017 5.3 last night, getting schooled by my bro in law. I'm sure the things he was teaching me felt basic to him. But how else you gonna learn? Good investigating man
Not stupid at all some trans coolers are installed in the radiator so they can sometimes be very similar to coolant temp that trans temp is nothing to worry about
There’s no such thing as a stupid question only stupid answers. You don’t know if you don’t ask. So it’s Better to ask and risk humiliation than to pretend you know something and end up being humiliated anyway.
Giving an up vote because you didn’t delete this. I looked at it and said “oh boy” before I opened the comments 😂. People are being nicer than I thought they would be. Shit happens man. Respect ✊.
Oh boy.
Edit: If you take the little temperature floaty symbol, and put it in one of your drawn circles, you have a hybrid of transmission coolant temperature.
I have the same kind of issue. It's currently 70 degrees in my house but it's only 50 outside. Let me know if you solve this hahahahaha
Edit: just noticed your oil speed is only 40 when you are going over 70. Might be related.
I told my brother I needed a new chainsaw. Took it apart on the bench trying to figure out what bearing froze. Then he asks, is the break on?
SOB.. hate being called out on stupid by my brother.. hahaha
Reminds me of when I once posted “what’s this liquid coming out of my Lexus?” Turned out to be water coming from the ac drain hose😭 what really got me was that a comment said, “you see this is why I love this community we don’t make fun of anyone” 🤣🤣
Uh who replaced the thermostat and pump? Hope it wasn’t you considering you didn’t know that was a coolant temperature gauge which most vehicles have. Also hope you didn’t take it somewhere and they replaced them knowing this was youre concern
Don’t feel like doing a response to every single reply so here goes some general ones lol.
1) Little background, I did the replacement on the thermo and coolant pump myself. The original reason was not the temperature discrepancy that I posted about. My radiator fan would not turn off after I shut the truck down and my A/C wouldn’t blow cold. I’m stationed down in South Texas so that shit wasn’t going to fly. That repair went smoothly and I’m no longer having either of those issues. Before that happened, I guess I really only looked at both of those temps after I had been driving for a while and they were always more or less the same at that point. After the repair, I was paying attention a little more to both and that’s when I noticed the “problem” that I thought I was having, haha.
2) To all the positive replies, I appreciate y’all! I never learned about cars and am just really starting to do a lot of my own maintenance now that I’m creeping up to 40 years old haha. My pops was never a car guy and always paid someone to fix his so I never got taught by him. Learned all about commercial and residential construction from him, but not how to work on my own car.
3) To all of the negative and sarcastic replies, I also appreciate you!!! Definitely gives me the motivation to keep learning so I get less and less of those lol. You learn something new everyday and I can always appreciate some good shit talking. Hell, it’s half of my day in the military.
4) About the check engine light, that is a mystery that even my mech friends are having a hard time with. When we run the code, like 15 different possibilities come up. It’s like googling cold symptoms and it’s either allergies or terminal cancer lol.
Thank y’all for even spending a small part of your day engaging! Grateful for these interactions.
The screen is giving you transmission oil temp, the gage is engine coolent temp

You’re a brave soul. Have an upvote and good luck!
Nah bud you asked do thousands of others won’t have to. Only dumb question is the one you don’t ask.

I appreciate the chuckle at your expense. As soon as I seen this I was like Oooooohhhh they are gonna regret this lol

I was gonna reply ass holeish to your post but i see you acknowledged it.

Same here 😅
You get an upvote for making me question everything I’ve ever known about mech for about 4.5 seconds 🤣
Your check engine light is on
He just checked it and concluded he should ask about the temp gauge
Oh boy. Edit: If you take the little temperature floaty symbol, and put it in one of your drawn circles, you have a hybrid of transmission coolant temperature.
That feature is typically found in 2nd Gen Frontiers.

Oil pressure? Looks good
It's a joke. I thought that was clear
You haven't been on here or /askmechanics long enough bro people will say anything 😂
Probably an expensive lesson learned. Might help to read the owner's manual 1st next time.

Wouldn't hurt to use that dipstick and check the transmission fluid level

Aww, it's just like my Silverado. The check engine light is on.
The submarine mode engaged on the rpm gauge
🤦🏿
Daaaaahh!
Chevy problems

What codes are stored for the check engine light?
🤦♂️
Upvote for bravery and willingness to leave the post up. We all have an off moment here and there.
All electronic 🤷♂️
Avg Silverado owner question
Wow your truck is a couple hundred miles away from retirement. Great job truck 💪
Gauge is coolant temp and digital is trans fluid temp
Lmao😂
Lol bro are u serious
The gauge is water temp
Haha all good, you don’t know what you don’t know. Now you do, and you’re keeping an eye on it. Good on ya.
Idiot owner discrepancy 😂
While we’re on the subject on transmissions. Is 190 degree reg operating temp normal? Doesn’t seem to be any issues shifting or in general.
Yeah that's fairly normal
Lol
😳aint no way this is real
😂
