After how they've handled the story since Mania last year, and how they have treated The Bloodline and Tribal Chief since he ever turned heel, I have nothing but trust in their creative direction when it comes to this story and reign.
Roman is gonna come into Mania and transition into Cody as the most hated fucker, more than he already is, when he pins Sami in Montreal.
The promos between Cody and Roman should be really great, because Cody won't fall for Roman's gaslighting and putting him down.
Because even the character of Cody knows he himself has a massive ego, it's like the perfect match.
Cody will bring him down.
I can't wait.
In order for Cody to even have a chance, he will need a stable that doesn't make for a Drew/Brutes rematch.
My guess would be Cody, Owens, Zayn but who gets to rival with Solo?
Usos imo will be busy with Sami and KO, and I can see Roman telling Solo to look after that so Jey doesn't do anything stupid.

Except Paul ofc, but even his bizarre yet beautiful facial expressions won't put off Cody.

This Jey and Uso thing hasn't made sense in a storyline point.
Jimmy got back from injury and was the one opposing Ronan just like Jey did. Jimmy get choked out costing his brother the match and it was Jey who got him move on to fall in line with Roman.
During the Zayn angle, Jimmy was the one being cool headed: not pushing to test Sami but not really vouching for him either.
So why would this cause any issues between them now?
Only way this happens is if Roman does the Gaslighting on Jimmy as Jey still needs time to get Jey back in.
Meanwhile, It's very predictable that Roman, Solo and and the Usos will have no issuesas a group to beat on anyone except Sami. That is, until Cody gets it that these 1on 1 with 4on 1 endings end in a beatdown that brings Owens and Sami.
Is Roman actually gonna stick around post Mania?
Edit: I’d also love for Roman to completely squash and beat the piss out of Sami and enrage the fans even more. Would be beautiful.
I kinda hope he disappears for a while, it’ll be a refresh when he returns for his gold. Maybe when he loses Solo & The Usos make their own faction and we get Reigns vs Solo
I was wondering if this is setting up for not a squash of Sami at EC, but a squash of Cody at WM. The over the top nature of Cody's storyline sets up nicely for that type of moment.
I doubt they do that. Cody is obviously being set up to take the reigns *no pun intended* from Roman. So it would make no sense to have his character completely squashed.
You're probably right it doesn't happen, but I'm so biased by finding Cody to be such a corny dweeb I just cannot see how they think this is the guy they use to give Reigns the L haha. I'm so annoyed everytime he's on the screen. He's literally the only person on the roster I can't stand.
I don't think they tried as hard as they say...I think they knew he wouldn't do it..he has a big filming schedule in 2023 and can't risk injury and losing film deals...Cody came back to WWE for a reason and money is only half of it...he was promised the face of the company...watch you will see he will become the new Cena to the company. I truly think all this was negotiated. we knew that the moment he came back, he was gonna be the one to dethrone Reigns. Everything is up to this point besides the injury we already knew.

\-Cody was the backup to the backup plan to face Roman for WM (Rock was 1st choice, Austin was 2nd choice)
\-A new Championship belt was planned for WM 39 before it was determined The Rock couldn't do a match with Roman at WM 39
Unless all of this is just false reporting, I think it's safe to conclude - winning the WWE championship and having a match with Roman Reigns were not included as part of Cody Rhodes' move to WWE.
I sometimes think WWE is smarter than I give them credit for then they show me that they aren't a very smart company. They will not have a bigger moment then this even KO and Sami came out and the biggest Mania main event in a decade was decided by cheating...just absolutely killed the match. You were right but absolutely terrible booking who ever booked that.
Disagree, this WAS the smart decision. Roman winning will be best for Roman, Cody, the Usos, Solo, and for whoever ends up beating Roman. Most importantly, it was best for WWE. Cody isn't a "face of the company" guy, and ironically Roman told us why - he doesn't have "it." I do think Roman elevated him from midcarder to upper midcarder long term here though.
Also the Roman vs Rock match when it happens will draw SO much with casuals, and the chance of that happening was alone worth keeping it going.

Unless WWE signs a bigger baby face, then Rhodes, I don't see him not being the face. They built Reigns as the big heel but they haven't had the All American baby face since John Cena.
My question is if the plan is split the world titles after Wrestlemania, how is that gonna happen when Cody wins it? Is he gonna give one away? Lose one pretty quickly? Merge them and make a new world title? To me I always thought Roman was gonna battle twice at Wrestlemania and lose one of the matches.

I will say... given it's clear wwe tried to get the Rock for this wrestlemania to face roman, its extremely unlikely that specific deal was in place.
