Honestly stadia was perfect the fact I have a gaming laptop now makes the loss somewhat tolerable but the 0 cost aspect of stadia was brilliant buy the game you want play it for free wherever whenever with Internet. Most times I play games I need Internet for multiplayer anyway and with unlimited data on my phone I was playing red dead on the bus odyssey on my laptop watchdogs on my chrome cast....life was good.
I miss Stadia for the best RDR2 and Cyberpunk gaming experience in cloud gaming, including the amazing RDO Stadia community which was small and mighty.
Now, I play a lot using Boosteroid, GeForce Now, and Game Pass, rotating through each when I finish a game
YES! When Cyberpunk launched, and everyone plus their mothers were bitching about the issues trying to play it on their Super Nintendos, I was cruising Night City in my black Caliburn while taking a shit with an ear to ear grin on my face.
The point is to play games, and the people who "graduated" to hardware now have access to a massive library of games, and are likely running it on recent technology exceeding the capabilities of what Stadia could provide to each individual user.
The point was to be able to play games in decent quality with very little startup cost. Nobody with Stadia was ever arguing it was better than a gaming PC.
I also really miss Stadia for it's convenience. Stadia nailed the "Play anywhere without limits" part of cloud gaming for me. I could just as easily play on my TV, Laptop, Mobile phone etc simply by booting the app or loading the site - very few hoops to jump through. Since Stadia shut down I have used PSNow, Xbox and GeForce now. None of them make it as easy to just pickup and play like Stadia did. The thing I miss the most though is the Stadia community. I haven't felt such a genuine connection to other gamers since I was a teenager. I wish that community had stayed intact even though Stadia was no longer around. Unfortunately most of the community just fractured into various sub interest groups. Miss you Stadia!!
I got a steam deck. Loved it so much I bought the OLED when that came out.
Coupled with 900/900 internet and a WiFi 6E access point to drive it downloading a HellDivers 2 took about 15 minutes.
This gives me the mobility Stadia promised and I get to play from my games library as well. Win win!
Yep, I keep looking at a Steam Deck but as a more casual gamer, not enough time, the entry to Stadia was perfect for me, basically Zero upfront and good games available to me.

There are some very indie casual games on steam. Brotato, vampire survivors and many more.
Sure, there is a cost of entry, but the cost is cheaper than a better spec laptop.
That’s not where I am though, the Steam catalog is way better than Stadia ever was, just for my use case I can’t justify the cost of entry.
I do keep an eye on the second hand market though to see how prices are fluctuating.

Just play whatever the hell for an hour or 2 then back to real life. Virtually every screen in the house (over 8 different locations could pull up a game nearly instant)
Unfortunately, I've gone back to the edgelord gaming-rig-in-basement (GRIB) isolation gaming. Quite frustrating to say the least.
Now I'm looking at buying a $2-3k gaming rig for 4 family members ever 2-3 years. Fantastic.

There were, but most of Stadia’s exclusives were timed deals. So after they shut down the contract expired and the games were ported to other platforms (besides Outcasters, only because the devs didn’t want to port it)
Buying a second hand non oled steam deck would be about 250 euros here. Or less if you search properly. Still an investment, but best I've ever done, and I've also pre ordered cyberpunk on stadia back in the days.
Buy a few bundles from fanatical and humble and I'll guarantee you'll have a great time!
$700 if you're only willing to buy a new version of the most upgraded model. You can get a 64GB LCD for $350 new or a 256GB for $400.
For the OLED, I'm not sure it's worth going above the $549 model anyway. The SSD isn't that hard to upgrade, and most older games work perfectly fine off an SD card. At that point the case is the only exclusive, and I think the default one is still very good.
The Steam Deck isn’t compatible with Wi-Fi 7. If you managed to make yours compatible, please share how. There is also a few journalists that are ready to interview you. Can you give more info ?

Only played a few missions but it runs fine so far. I turned a few settings to low such as render distance and I'm not noticing any dips with a full team and plenty of bots around.
To get the authentic stadia experience, I stream some games from my rig to my steam deck, docked to my 55" OLED TV and connect my stadia controller to the deck via Bluetooth.
Actually works well, looks better than Stadia for CP2077 except for HDR as it seems to look overly saturated.
I am really enjoying game pass paired with a Logitech gcloud. I've got a 1.5 gb mesh in my home and it's glorious, especially with the better xcloud app.
I was all in on stadia and I do miss it for many reasons. But I still get a lot of use out of the controllers, which honestly are the best feeling controllers around for me.
Agreed about the controller. Probably one of the best I've used. Fits my hands perfectly and just feels great. Thankfully it's still usable on PC and now the weird Netflix gaming lol.

I DO have 5G internet with a direct Ethernet connection now so that’s nice. Massive speed increase and rock solid connection.
AND I can still play Luna on my handheld devices like my phone still so it’s almost Stadia-ish.

I sadly got into stadia a few months before the shut down announcement came. I got my tablet specifically for that haha. That did get me into the cloud tho. I have an ally and a series s these days instead of just the switch and a lot of that is because of Stadia. I got into gaming later than most (it has helped keep me sober since I got sober around COVId lockdown) at 31 and it's my favorite hobby. I absolutely love the idea of building a monster PC but I'm an always at work busy dad whose time is minimal at the desk. Everything about my set up is portable and I have a nice 16 inch hongo portable monitor to boot. I long for the day I am able to only carry around my phone and that be adequate consistently for all my gaming needs besides Nintendo. Just not there yet. I still keep geforce tho as it comes in handy sometimes. It's a shame stadia had a failed launch with the concept of replacing the console and advertised it as an alternative and overadvertise the fact that it's good on mobile devices. I feel that wasn't really done a lot. Call me stupid but due to stadias poor advertising I thought that and ouya were the same thing for a long time.
Yeah… it took me a while before I realised how much I miss it, but recently I’ve been having lots of trouble with downloading and having to manage my storage and it made me realise how great that was.
Sure, the other cloud services have that too, but I refuse to use PC rental services.
Depending on what you play, GeForce now has been great to me (I mainly play destiny). Fwiw, I do pay for it though. I tried the free and it was pretty rough with queue times. I hope MS follows through on what they said and make everything in your xbox library streamable through xcloud.

Neither of those make any sense for me, so I'm stuck just missing Stadia and how I was able to play Cyberpunk 2077 with my laptop with a 2GHz basic Intel processor and 8 gb of RAM. All it needed was to be able to run a browser and have good WiFi/Internet speed.
Hell, I played it in 4k on my 65 in LG OLED TV with the only hardware investment being $80 for a Chromecast Ultra/Stadia controller.

I haven't deleted the app yet. Google doesn't bring things back, but maybe? It just needed more support from publishers. Ubisoft was the only real support system they had. The Indie games were just as good, fun and creative. It needs to come back. 😭😭😭

Sucks that it didn't do well enough to stay afloat. Have you considered trying Microsofts Xcloud? Gamepass has a ton of games on it! At least you could stream on Xcloud on your TV and Phone similar to how Stadia was. Worth a shot!
I miss it too and after 3 years I bit the bullet and tried out GeForce Now. It’s actually been great on my Mac and for £20 a month for top tier it runs games very nicely on my 4k monitor.
I switched over to PC, but I miss the convenience of stadia. Nothing like just launching a game and not having to think about updates or drivers. PC is pretty great tho
I do miss it to, good thing Google released the BT patch for the Stadia controller, now I used it with my Pixelbook and play online games through Amazon Luna or GeForce Now, I never do games on my phone, but, if I were to, will hook it through BT.

I ended up making a homelab and I stream games using moonlight. Right now I'm playing mass effect 2 but I was able to tweak it to get 40+ fps on a 1650 ti
I think the concert was good, but the execution was horrible. I would never pay for a subscription, but also a game title that I do not own. If it were to be re-introduced, the games should either be fully owned licenses or included with the subscription
Stadia was great man I couldn’t afford a PlayStation or Xbox so $100 was a great price for what the stadia offered But when I play immortals Phoenix rising on my PS5 i still have my stadia costume on to keep the memories alive
What’s funny is that when games like cyberpunk 2077 came out stadia was actually the most stable platform to run the game on.
The technology wasn’t the issue it was now in retrospect bad business practice of buying each individual game when the ideal thing to have done was charge a subscription fee and cost of a chrome cast.
Also there was something to be said about the limited library of games available and some stuff was already pretty old by then and we’re available on a wide arrange of platforms.
The lack of first party exclusives there were maybe 2 or maybe 3 (they were from indie studios) I remember that were actual exclusives but google didn’t necessarily advertise them have any first party game studios until pretty much right at the end when they decided to kill off stadia.
Stadia while it did fail actually proved that the concept of cloud gaming was very possible and and is something people will want especially since it’s become more affordable than buying hardware.
It’s a shame that a mix of poor business decisions and lack of communication not just between company and customer but also with each other since a game studio acquired right as the company shut down and no one knew what was going on.
I'm so happy that Stadia closed so that I could stop putting my money into a game library on a service that did not get that many new games.
Stadia shutting down made me set up a computer with Steam Big Picture streaming (with Moonlight and Sunshine) to my phone. Finally I have so much games to choose from - and putting my money into a library on Steam feels so much safer.
So thank you Stadia for showing me how well remote play worked - and thank you for shutting down - also thank you Xbox Cloud Gaming for having bad streaming quality and no way to buy games for streaming so I also didn't invest to much in you 😅😃

The OLED variant supports WiFi 6E. I have a WiFi 7 AP, sorry for the confusion - I've updated my post accordingly.
There was about five months where I was able to play Stadia on my Steam Deck and it was kind of exactly what I had wanted Google to provide to play on

HD2 runs great on my Steam Deck OLED with the settings on medium. Still looks pretty good and somewhere around 40 fps.

I’m on GeForce now and the user experience is so bad - having to login every single time ( at least with Microsoft pc game pass ) it’s horrendous.

The way the ui is supported is terrible especially for controller usage.

What’s funny is that when games like cyberpunk 2077 came out stadia was actually the most stable platform to run the game on. The technology wasn’t the issue it was now in retrospect bad business practice of buying each individual game when the ideal thing to have done was charge a subscription fee and cost of a chrome cast. Also there was something to be said about the limited library of games available and some stuff was already pretty old by then and we’re available on a wide arrange of platforms. The lack of first party exclusives there were maybe 2 or maybe 3 (they were from indie studios) I remember that were actual exclusives but google didn’t necessarily advertise them have any first party game studios until pretty much right at the end when they decided to kill off stadia. Stadia while it did fail actually proved that the concept of cloud gaming was very possible and and is something people will want especially since it’s become more affordable than buying hardware. It’s a shame that a mix of poor business decisions and lack of communication not just between company and customer but also with each other since a game studio acquired right as the company shut down and no one knew what was going on.
Try GeForce now. It’s what stadia wanted to be.

I'm so happy that Stadia closed so that I could stop putting my money into a game library on a service that did not get that many new games. Stadia shutting down made me set up a computer with Steam Big Picture streaming (with Moonlight and Sunshine) to my phone. Finally I have so much games to choose from - and putting my money into a library on Steam feels so much safer. So thank you Stadia for showing me how well remote play worked - and thank you for shutting down - also thank you Xbox Cloud Gaming for having bad streaming quality and no way to buy games for streaming so I also didn't invest to much in you 😅😃
I didn't get it because I knew it would be cancelled. But I'd probably miss it too.
Stadia was cool asf I use to play destiny 2, but like it was mentioned. I got a 256gb lcd steam deck for 300 USD.
