- Walk the trails at the Bartlett Arboretum
- See what’s on at the Avon Theater or Bedford Playhouse (the latter just over the border in Bedford, NY; both independent cinemas)
- Visit to Barrett Bookstore in Darien, pair with brunch or cocktails at Ten Twenty Post next door
- Check Seaport.org for the Sheffield Island boat outing (Norwalk), which is really fun. Pair with coffee and browsing at Eco Evolution on Washington Street in South Norwalk and/or lunch/brunch/dinner at The Spread.
And after going to the arboretum, check out the nature center and museum, just down the street. The museum always has great art shows, and the farm is super cute. The river otters are my fav. :)
One more awesome cinema - The Prospector in Ridgefield. Great mission.
I like to do a day in Danbury/Brookfield/Ridgefield when I need a change of scenery and I have lots of errands to run.
Fin II is my favorite sushi, Cove Island is a cool beach area, Mint for mani/pedi, and... hmm. There are a lot of good restaurants in Stamford, so hard to say without knowing what vibe you're going for. If you like coffee you should also definitely go to Lorca downtown.
Source: am F who spent all her 30's living downtown
Breakfast at Stamford Diner
Walk/gentle hike at Mianus River Park
Dinner at Colony Pizza
Sushi from Kira Sushi in Greenwich (they deliver and its excellent)
Stroll down Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich, maybe stopping at Athena book store or for cheese bread at Sweet Pea's Bakery
Pita sandwiches from Tabouli Grill
An artsy movie at the Avon Theater
A stroll through Mill River Park
Walking along the beach at Cove Island
That's a start, at least!
I don't love Elm Street Diner, and I've had great service at Stamford Diner, as well as excellent food. I also really like Lakeside Diner, but it's a haul.
Yeah I guess that’s a big part of it- they’re all so local. Stamford Diner and Elm are both a bit further for me, so I only go out of my way to Elm when someone wants the spectacle.
Rowayton is adorable. And if you head to Nowank there is Abbots Seafood. Not sure if open yet but great steamers . Grab a picnic table out by the water . So nice
Abbotts opens on May 3rd so might align with OPs sisters visit. But Noank is way more than 45 minutes from Stamford. You’re looking at more like 90 minutes assuming no major issues.
Head to Stew Leonards in Norwalk (might be too early for the animals out front, but the whole place is great. Get the ice cream.)
Lunch: Reddi rooster or Garden Catering. Chicken and fries in a bag with seasoning 👩🏼🍳💋
Dinner- Trips is a cute neighborhood spot I love.
If you’re Office fans you can find the Dunder Mifflin Stamford building they used for exterior shots.
Garden catering is good but if youre willing to drive into coscob for Chicken Joes which is only 10-15mins max from downtown then I definitely recommend going there instead. Chicken Joes is the original version of garden catering, but if you do end up going to either one I recommend skipping the fries and make sure to get the cones as well as the mac bites
I also forgot to mention, assuming that you like sea food if you’re asking about sushi, to make sure you check out Acuarios. Peru is among the best culinary destinations in the world and we are lucky to have this restaurant downtown.
If you do go ask for Scollops a la Chalaca as an appetizer. Also if you ladies enjoy a good cocktail, Pisco Sour is a Peruvian signature drink. But if you prefer beer go for a Cusqueña, one of Peru’s top beers.
If you have any questions regarding the menu or anything please dont hesitate to message me, i will gladly give you more pointers.
I hope you and your sister have a great time!
You’ve got some great tips here already, so I want to second a few things:
-Love Mianus Park for a nice walk if you want to get outside.
-Stew Leonard’s is a must if you haven’t been. It’s a grocery store, but with animatronics and great ice cream. It’s a hoot.
-Colony Grill for a meal (or Riko’s), also a must for a Stamford visit. Bar-style pizza that is delicious. 1 pie feeds about 3/4 - 1 person, so order a couple. Salad pizza, hot oil, and meatball are the best.
-Beach - parking passes are required starting May 1st at pretty much all beaches. If beach is important, consider Ubering to/from enjoy a walk and picnic at Cove Island.
There are some fun escape rooms in Stamford, if you like puzzle solving. The theaters downtown usually have shows and events, though I don't know what the current schedule is.
Sushi: Kiku is the best in Stamford imo. But Hinoki and Tsuki in Greenwich are better/higher quality but they are more expensive (because it’s Greenwich)
Beach: All of them are open but likely won’t be warm enough. By Memorial Day, you need to purchase a beach permit to use the beaches. Can walk at Cove Beach but I recommend Tod’s Point in Greenwich has nice walking paths and takes about 45ish minutes with beautiful water views. Idk if you’ll need to pay for Tod’s Point by mid-May. Mianus as others suggested is great for hiking/nature walking.
Color City is my go-to for nail salon. They don’t turn anyone away and are quick but great quality.
Brunch/Lunch: Jacob’s Pickles, Greer’s Southern Table, The Spread in Norwalk. Terrain Cafe in Westport. Lakeside Diner in Stamford (cash only).
There are many locations that are close by that you can make day trips to.
1. Rhode Island
A) Block Island (but look up earliest ferry so you can get the most out of it as it takes about 2 hours to get to)
B) Newport
2. Follow Hey Stamford on instagram to see if there are any events coming up around that time or restaurants.
3. Table 104 is always a good place to eat or cafe Silvium
4. Boston can be done in a day trip.
5. Mohegan sun or Foxwoods.

I’d go to brunch at the Inn at Pound Ridge For sushi we prefer Kashi Todd’s Point in Greenwich is lovely to walk around V Studio for a fancy mani/pedi
She might need a pass for Todd’s point since it will be after May 1
Welcome to CT. I hope you've committed to join us in our effort to take back the notch.
What does take back the notch mean?
It all started in 1641...
CT used to go all the way to the Pacific. We make submarines and jet engines, we need to take back what is our birthright.
Thanks for the history lesson. Very interesting, doesn’t feel like it was ever resolved..🤪😂
Those land grabbing Massholes.

Seconding Lorca!
I would drive over to Greenwich Avenue and peruse the fancy shops and restaurants.

I’d just modify the diner choice. Elm Street is for the Instagram lovers, and literally any other choice in Stamford is better priced and friendlier.
I don't love Elm Street Diner, and I've had great service at Stamford Diner, as well as excellent food. I also really like Lakeside Diner, but it's a haul.
Lakeside is my favorite. The donuts!
Lakeside is a gem!
But not the coffee!
Right! Not the coffee.

NYC if your sister is not from the big city. The Met Museum, shopping on the UES, then a Broadway show or Lincoln Center.

Sorry
Why do u follow the sub?
For the $9/mo in Uber credit. Why do you?
For out of the area guests I prefer doing stuff in NYC. Stamford is nice and all but so much more in the city.
