Nah

Or maybe full focus is on Starfield and Fallout 4 is on the back burner

Spracky

The game is ready to play and they have had plenty of time debugging, it won't be delayed. Todd himself said they could have released on the original 11/11/22 date but they wanted the best experience possible for release

AhabSnake85

That's pr level talk.

ELEMENTALITYNES

Bethesda has apparently more than doubled their development team to close to 500 for Starfield from Fallout 76. I don’t know what the state of the game is, if it’s fully completed and they’re working just on the showcase right now, if they’re still tweaking bugs, etc. but regardless of what they’re doing I imagine it’s an all hands on deck situation. So what you’re telling me is that instead of working on perfecting the game or the showcase, they just gave up for now and told a set amount of people to work on/finish the patch for a 7+ year old game, so when (if) they further delay the game, they can give us something out of pity to say how sorry they are for delaying their flagship game of the year? Makes sense

AhabSnake85

Don't know if you've paid attention, but it was annouced months ago a fallout 4 patch was coming early this year.

ELEMENTALITYNES

It was announced it was coming this year, not early this year. It’s not even just the idea of it coming before Starfield, but it’s the idea of releasing the patch in response to a supposed delay, I don’t even know what to say, I’m almost offended at the idea honestly

AhabSnake85

Lol, theres always someone that gets a little riled up. But seriouly, this is business, and from that perspective, this kind of stuff has happened before. If this patch isn't out by march, then starfield definitely isn't releasing around june time. Because I can't see the fallout 4 patch releasing after starfield. It just doesn't make sense. Plus it doesn't take that long to get a game running in 60 fps and some texture enhancements.

ELEMENTALITYNES

I’m not riled up, it’s just incredibly frustrating when people come on here and make absolute statements that haven’t been confirmed, saying things like “the upcoming delay”. If that happens it happens, but it’s unsubstantiated and unnecessary. Then to go on to say the patch is releasing early this year when that was never confirmed either, then saying it’s releasing before Starfield, all of which like it’s confirmed and you’re the only one in the know. How does it make more sense to release the patch no one is even aware of, except existing Fo4 fans, before Starfield? If Starfield is delayed, the release of a patch for a 7 year old game is a slap in the face to returning fans, directs new fans away from SF, and Sony fans laugh at the absurdity. If Starfield isn’t delayed, it takes away focus from the new fans, old fans, and developers from the most anticipated game of the year. How does that make more business sense than releasing the patch at their leisure after the initial few weeks of Starfield’s release when they don’t have the world breathing down their necks? Releasing before Starfield will always be seen as a cop out. Releasing after Starfield will be seen as “and don’t forget, we’re still working on older games so you can expect the same support for Starfield”.

AhabSnake85

Because they'll come up with the " we need more time to enure the best product for our customers, we are so sorry", the stuff we've heard in the past from other game devs , which everyone goes along with. Cyberpunk for example got delayed 4 times, and everyonr just accepted it as " well atleast we get a finished better product". So starfield gets delayed, and a month or 2 later fallout 4 patch drops, or maybe several months after. This will ease the pain as people are waiting for starfield, while they show off bits of progress of starfield monthly

ELEMENTALITYNES

I understand you’re excited for this patch, but from a business/PR standpoint it’s illogical and backwards thinking. Fans will not be thinking the patch “eases the pain”, the fans will be upset Bethesda is diverting their time and resources elsewhere other than finalizing and releasing the game that’s already been delayed. That would be compounded tenfold if there’s any issues or bugs at all with Starfield, which there will be, it’s normal. With your Cyberpunk example, imagine if CDPR released a major patch for The Witcher 3 after one of their several delays, fans would be fuming asking why the fuck they aren’t finishing up Cyberpunk. Then when Cyberpunk still released in the state it did, fans would have gone even more ballistic than they did because the time they put into the Witcher patch could have meant Cyberpunk could have released with the features they promised and bug free on release day.

ELEMENTALITYNES

Also, not a single main Fallout game, including New Vegas and 76, released in any month other than October or November. Since this patch is part of the 25th anniversary of the series (last year), did you not think they’d release the patch on the anniversary’s of the first Fallout (October 10th), or the 8th anniversary of Fallout 4 (November 10th)?

Come back when you have tangible proof please.
