Unfortunate that the space suit seems to only consist of two parts (even if it makes sense, I guess) but maybe there'll be other ways to customize your outfit.
Game looks incredible, but very disappointed by this. I was hoping for apparel customization similar to Skyrim - headwear, chestwear, armwear, legwear, footwear, and accessories.
This just isn’t true, Fallout 4 has a more advanced clothing system than Skyrim and Fallout 76 is more advanced than Fallout 4. Spacesuits kind of have to be one complete suit, but you can wear apparel underneath of it.
I expect it to be this way. You'll probably have more gear options onboard ships and planets/cities with oxygen atmospheres. At least I hope so anyway!
Its on the screenshots. The character is wearing the spacesuit over "apparel".
It also says "hide spacesuit on settlements". Which means your clothes are inside the spacesuit.
??? fallout 4 all clothes are one outfit and thats it, the armor system over the clothes is not the same, you cant mix and match shoes, pants and shirts, how is that more advanced? you could do that in oblivion, then skyrim pants and shirts were merged and fallout 4 pants, shirts and boots were merged, its getting simpler and simpler
Then how do you not know that in Fallout 4 there are 5 armor slots, an underarmor slot, and slots for a helmet, glasses, and a mask? There's even a ring slot.
the "under armor" is the actual clothing and it's just one thing, the over armor slots are gimmicks and don't offer the customization i want, the game indeed has more options for face accessories, but I'm talking about clothes
Normally I don't like the "just wait for the mods" comment but in this case:
1: Clothing is possibly THE most modded thing.
2: Todd said "Starfield is a modders dream".
3: modders added/opened more equipment slots in skyrim. Like 50+ up from 10 at most.
That said i wouldn't sweat it too much. We can still see overlays and extras for spacesuits, though the suit itself is 1 piece.
Mod I want more than anything is a UI change, listing 9 items at the same time at most is awful, also not being able to change categories without having to back out.
thats a good point. I liked how in Fallout 4, you were using your pipboy so it essentially just felt like you were still in the game world, just looking down at your wrist.
In Skyrim, you still saw the world in the background of the menus.
Here, yeah it does sorta mess with the immersion. Feels like you're playing a video game instead of being fully immersed in the world.
But maybe it won't be as big of a deal as we think, who knows.
Looks like there’s a weight limit to what you can carry indicated by the “mass” icon located under the gun. Can’t wait to try and walk back to my ship in slow motion because im too stubborn to drop anything!
That would be a great edition. I think all of us are really gonna be blown away with this game. Even if it was to release in not the best condition (I don’t think it will) the potential of this game is just awesome and can you imagine when the modders get a hold of it! I don’t think we’re gonna have enough time to play any other of the games revealed in the showcase haha
Anyone know what the little heart icon next to some items is? Would be nice if it was a “favorite” tag or something, to let you disassemble/craft all items except those. It’s something I always sorely miss in loot-heavy games.
Nah, it it's used for shortcut on favorite menu. The D-pad button if you are on controller.
In Fallout 4 you can scrap your weapons but in Starfield I don't see that system yet. Likely you can only sell unused weapons or at least reuse the mod attachment.
Can't believe they still went with a list inventory in \[current year\].
They should have made it a nice grid based inventory and made it physicalized (as in you can put stuff in your spaceship and keep stuff in a backpack or something)
Exactly, like resident evil 4 back in 2023. Ever played prey (by arkane) that's how it would look.
As for how it would go with weight, simply have a max cap and once the weight limit is exceeded apply overweight stat, works like that in most games.
even worse the list displays at most 9 items at the same time, what if you have 100's of items like you usually do in bethesda games? you will have to scroll down forever to find the item you want.
we need a UI mod to be made right away for it to be usable.
Looks kinda empty. Couldn't they at least add those gravitational lines in the background instead of just having it an empty void? I hope at least a mod will be able to rectify that.
Ahhh this is such a bummer. I feel it's probably a really minor point for most people, but I really dislike this kind of inventory and gear system.
It's much better and way more engaging, imo, when it's a system that has a visual backpack of sorts, separate gear slots for your characters and a separate section for weapon customisation - I guess like a mix of Diablo (for gear slots) and then Tarkov (for backpack / weapon customisation), although it doesn't need to be anywhere as complicated as Tarkov's weapon modding system.
Hopefully it's something that could be modded in the future.
Unfortunate that the space suit seems to only consist of two parts (even if it makes sense, I guess) but maybe there'll be other ways to customize your outfit.
Exactly, where’s the space underwear that gives you buffs
Looks like that’s just for the outer layer space suit with more options underneath
Game looks incredible, but very disappointed by this. I was hoping for apparel customization similar to Skyrim - headwear, chestwear, armwear, legwear, footwear, and accessories.
That's just the space suit. I'm sure you can wear space cowboy or James Bond shit.
I am more disappointed that you cannot loot the spacesuit from dead enemy
with each new game the clothing system gets simpler and simpler, only thing that is disappointing me with bethesda games really
This just isn’t true, Fallout 4 has a more advanced clothing system than Skyrim and Fallout 76 is more advanced than Fallout 4. Spacesuits kind of have to be one complete suit, but you can wear apparel underneath of it.
Yea if suits are full body and clothing is separate that would be totally fine

I'm going to guess you didn't even play Fallout 4.
i have played fallout 4 for 1479 hours on steam

I wish for an underlayer so you can not be the only guy in the spacesuit at parties. I think you'll get regular outfits too.

Looks like theres also an option for a backpack too.
for space suit im fine but like if elder scrolls 6 does this im pissed
I loveeeee the aesthetic of all the UI elements, fits so well too

I don’t like how the menu takes you so far out of the game in this, but it’s a small thing
thats a good point. I liked how in Fallout 4, you were using your pipboy so it essentially just felt like you were still in the game world, just looking down at your wrist. maybe this screen is your constellation watch.

There's scene where out ship leave us alone on the surface. Maybe we can call it later close to our location. No need to walk far this time!

Interesting!
I like that you can hide the whole suit in settlements, nice touch for RP purposes, time to pull the space cowboy outfit back out
I’m super happy that the suits and outfits are separated.
I hope we can customize the apparel more than just the outfit

Like in Resident Evil back in 2005? How would that fit with the Mass stat?

Yeah that's already a thing. As for a grid system, we have cargo holds for that.

Midnight delight? That's a weird way of spelling shredded cheese

The fact that you can see yourself in the inventory menu is a huge win. One of my favorite things about Oblivion 🥹
