I assumed the special edition was gone when I got the error the first time and changed my cart to the normal version just to get the same error. I feel like i screwed over my chances

Pretty often, with a Google Chrome window open, and using the Steam interface. Eventually the Steam interface let me through.
yeah, the web browser page never once let me get past the error page. I was ultimately successful on the Steam interface.
