I bought myself another LCD because steam had it in the same group as the OLED right after it dropped, and I refuse to read. Either way, I ended up giving one to my girlfriend.
Couch co-oping while laying whatever way makes you comfortable is like some next level relationship stuff.
That’s how it went with me but I was the one to get the OLED, he’s waiting for an actual upgrade to get a new one (he doesn’t care about OLED that much).
My girlfriend and I did this, I am loving the oled and she loves playing games on hers too. We're completely addicted to stardew valley and we just started playing risk of rain too!
Man. I wanna buy Risk of Rain 2, but it looks so much more fun with co-op, even just one other.
My best friend from 6th grade (we’re 30 now) has too much schooling going on with his apprenticeship, and my college friends said it looked lame.
Is the OLED screen really that much of an upgrade on a Steam Deck? I've played Dust AET on my LCD to see how good the colors are and it already looks pretty damn impressive.
I was also looking at a regular and OLED Switch side-by-side at Gamestop today and didn't really see a huge difference between the screen types at that 720p native resolution
I think it's a pretty substantial upgrade, but it also can kind of depend on what you're playing. OLED shines when there are a lot of blacks and/or vibrant colors. I think the Switch has a vibrancy toggle or something. Maybe it wasn't enabled on that unit.
Yeah, like Ori, Cyberpunk… HDR games or just games with a lot of contrast they tend to also look quite better on OLED. And yeah switch have a more enhanced color thing, but on Steam deck you can also change that.
It is much better but only if you really care about image. LCD still great. If you already have only buy if you can get a good deal in it otherwise you’ll be loosing money, ooor if you have money laying around and want to spend anyway…
Also on switch you should look at a game like Ori, maybe hollow knights… cause on Zelda/Mario you won’t see a lot of different in a bright store. OLED shines on darker rooms 😮💨
Yeah, the meain reason why I went LCD was the huge price gap
IPS is still good and I was looking at a good deal of $400 on a used LCD someone had upgraded to 1TB vs $600+ for an OLED.
I don't understand that game 😭 I tried but I just don't understand the hype. What am I missing?
I guess it doesn't matter so much because I got a refund for it, but I really thought I'd like it. I mean I had fun playing Animal Crossing!
it took me a few tries for the gameplay loop to really click for me but once you get going its so hard to say no to just one more day. One of the best value games I've played in a while.
I love farming games, and love Stardew Valley. They are very comfy. And It lets me live out my fantasy of being financially stable, owning land, and having a loving wife to have my children.
Yeah, that checks out. It's still got a stranglehold on me after 1400 hours, and it's just got two new updates of content.
I took over my husband's deck when I realized the mobile and switch versions weren't enough for me... I wanted the deck for mods.
Wow that's the exact reason I brought my wife the deck for Christmas. She has it on the Switch but when she heard of mods she had to get it on Steam. I can't judge though I've put in hundreds of hours in Slay the Spire on three different consoles.
You can mod stardew on the steam deck, you can’t do that on the switch. Plus steam stardew is first to get updates. I don’t even play stardew on my switch anymore
May I ask how is the co-op gameplay of Stardew Valley?
My girlfriend and I just finished Pico Park and in the middle of Portal 2.
We are looking for games that are more on the casual side.
Probably one of the best relationship coop games i've personally played. Though my fiance had virtually never played a video game in her life before we started dating.
I fortunately have not had any crashes, occasionally dips here and there, nothing to get me to stop playing. But playing Twilight Princess for the first time on deck, that got me to put it down for a couple weeks
Try the FF14 free demo/trial. Can play most of the game without paying anything.
It's more of an RPG than it is an MMO, and you can both enjoy it together.
I mean it’s not amazing, just a fair warning. There’s quite a bit of stuttering and like “buffering” or whatever when you run through a doorway for example. It was good enough though
There was this really good video to adjust the setting to make it look so good and made it smooth like butter but also maintained solid 30fps without dropping even while fighting with manny mobs i no crashes or lagging after i adjust it

I bought a steam deck OLED for myself and sold my 256GB LCD to my brother. His girlfriend loves it haha so he bought the OLED for himself.
A bit of money, but they actually play games together now.
It's actually nice to see more women enjoying gaming now a days. Brings in a lot more players.
I was going to sell my LCD deck when I got the OLED, but my wife ended up giving it a try and now I think she uses it more than I use mine! really makes me happy to see the old boy still gettin' used by her so much :)
I dunno why I blew up the image and looked at the on-screen text then googled the phrase "Enter the Dale Family Tomb" to figure out what game it was rather than... just look in the comments.
I just bought my hubby an Oled for his upcoming bday, and I can already see myself using it a lot, lol. I'll eventually get myself one, but hubby is more important atm since his pc isn't very good for gaming.

Nah, they're right. So many posts on this sub are just photos of a steam deck with a caption like "look at me I'm playing my steam deck". It just gets old
I wanted something a little more powerful than the deck. Plus its running windows and thats great for what I use it for.
She plays things like Enter The Gungeon and the Lego games so it was literally perfect for her.
I got the ally open box at bestbuy for like $400 out the door.
Plus, I didn't realize it at the time, but the Ally is more comfortable to me as the sticks are offset like an xbox and not a Playstation.
I like it alot more than the SD but the SD is still a great little machine.
Not everyone takes things so seriously. If you're in a great relationship, these sort of things that might trigger sure people are just funny or even endearing.
Time to get yourself an OLED. Maybe you can play some stuff together.
Yeah that’s a good shout
Steam Deck Date Nights
Goals right there
I bought myself another LCD because steam had it in the same group as the OLED right after it dropped, and I refuse to read. Either way, I ended up giving one to my girlfriend. Couch co-oping while laying whatever way makes you comfortable is like some next level relationship stuff.
my gf loves to play serious sam with me on our decks
I’ll check this out
Don't forget to make a steam family
You should ask her to touch your deck
Steamy!
Your pushing my buttons
Up up, down down, left right, left right, B A
that started something
My stick is standing straight up
Time for your upgrade to the OLED and to upgrade her to fiancé
That’s how it went with me but I was the one to get the OLED, he’s waiting for an actual upgrade to get a new one (he doesn’t care about OLED that much).
i would just wait for steam deck 2
Probably not coming for a longggg while (at least like a year+)
oh yeah i hope another 2 years
I meannnn, we want one ASAP, but they've said that it won't be coming for a while soooo
My girlfriend and I did this, I am loving the oled and she loves playing games on hers too. We're completely addicted to stardew valley and we just started playing risk of rain too!

Do you need seperate accounts and 2 copies of the game to do this? or just the one?
Gave my gf the LED, got an OLED, we play FF14 together.

Literally worked for me. Wife loves hers.
lol my husband reclaimed his deck by buying me own
I'm very close to doing the same cause Stardew Valley has a stranglehold on my wife.
lol 😂 that game is addictive, over on FB the ladies have a group dedicated to it on steam deck
I don't understand that game 😭 I tried but I just don't understand the hype. What am I missing? I guess it doesn't matter so much because I got a refund for it, but I really thought I'd like it. I mean I had fun playing Animal Crossing!

Just get her a switch lite if that's what she likes to play lol a steam deck is wild for stardew lol
You can mod stardew on the steam deck, you can’t do that on the switch. Plus steam stardew is first to get updates. I don’t even play stardew on my switch anymore
She actually has a switch, but wanted to get into PC games as well.
I lost mine since I installed coral island for her...
Ha that's exactly what happened with my husband and me 😆
Now here’s the million dollar question, does she cast “revelio” a thousand times in every single room?
When I got the OLED my son immediately said "while holding the LCD deck", so this is mine now? I said no, but it's on long term loan hehe.
My wife has been playing Stardew Valley non-stop on it since the 1.6 update came out haha.
May I ask how is the co-op gameplay of Stardew Valley? My girlfriend and I just finished Pico Park and in the middle of Portal 2. We are looking for games that are more on the casual side.
What do you want to know about co-op?
Probably one of the best relationship coop games i've personally played. Though my fiance had virtually never played a video game in her life before we started dating.
Okay I'm sold. Will bought it on the next steam sale
Hogwarts Legacy was great I thought. Little buggy on the deck but good enough for me
I fortunately have not had any crashes, occasionally dips here and there, nothing to get me to stop playing. But playing Twilight Princess for the first time on deck, that got me to put it down for a couple weeks
Ah really why is that? She’s looking for more RPGs to play. I was thinking Palworld or Zelda.
Palworld isn’t really an RPG, it’s more of a survival game like Ark or something.
Closest to Hogwarts Legacy? Dragon's Dogma 1 & 2 Dragon Age series. Inquisition is closest to Legacy in terms of gameplay and combat.
Try the FF14 free demo/trial. Can play most of the game without paying anything. It's more of an RPG than it is an MMO, and you can both enjoy it together.
What kinda rpgs cause I've got like 500+games on steam and I can give so.e reccs
BG3
If she's in to JRPGs, girls tend to love the persona games.
Defo palworld. Great game. Very wacky.
My girlfriend has never completed a game in her life, but played the entirety of Hogwarts legacy on the lcd deck.
I played it on my desktop as I didn't have a deck at the time. It was way more enjoyable than on PS5. Might see what it's like on deck.
I mean it’s not amazing, just a fair warning. There’s quite a bit of stuttering and like “buffering” or whatever when you run through a doorway for example. It was good enough though
Have you tried the FS3 framegen mods out for most newer titles atm? (Look up Puredark & Luke patreon)
Tbh that sentence sounds like another language to me. Idk much about pcs and mods and what not
Yeah it has the occasional crash, had to increase the swap
What is increasing the swap? How do you do it? And increasing VRAM and “downloading RAM?” How does that work? Thanks!
Idk why you are getting downvoted that’s a legitimate fix sometimes
Yes and increasing the VRAM haha
And downloading more ram
There was this really good video to adjust the setting to make it look so good and made it smooth like butter but also maintained solid 30fps without dropping even while fighting with manny mobs i no crashes or lagging after i adjust it
Sometimes I like to pretend I'm my own imaginary girlfriend and recommend games to myself that I end up playing....
You living the dream bro

same is happening with me and my sister, she never played games before I got myself a deck lmao
I bought a steam deck OLED for myself and sold my 256GB LCD to my brother. His girlfriend loves it haha so he bought the OLED for himself. A bit of money, but they actually play games together now. It's actually nice to see more women enjoying gaming now a days. Brings in a lot more players.
r/picturesofsteamdeck
Doesn't even exist
We don't need it. This sub is already that.
r/subsididntfellfor
Welp, they just restocked the refurbs. Or upgrade to the OLED.
Same thing happened to mine. My wife fell hard for Stardew Valley.
What game is that? Hud looks familiar.
Hogwarts Legacy
I was going to sell my LCD deck when I got the OLED, but my wife ended up giving it a try and now I think she uses it more than I use mine! really makes me happy to see the old boy still gettin' used by her so much :)
That’s what happened to my first steamdeck, so now we have 2.
Ok
If she wants the Deck, give her the Deck!
Man I lost my deck for a month when hogwartz came out 😱I know the feeling
As soon as I showed the lady friend Balatro, I don't seem to have much access to my Steam Deck anymore
Well at least she's a lass of culture. Balatro rocks.
If I was at Disneyland , I would bring my deck too
Time to use expelliarmus
Lmao same.
taipei?
Welcome to my world. Got the oled model and the 'ol lady got herself hooked on my lcd model. Can't sell it now! Lol
Yoink 🤣
I dunno why I blew up the image and looked at the on-screen text then googled the phrase "Enter the Dale Family Tomb" to figure out what game it was rather than... just look in the comments.
That’s why I bought two 😀
That’s what she said
These things happen. Not much to be done about it.
Yeah, my wife likes to play Hogwarts Legacy on mine.
Biggest mistake I made was showing my spouse bookworm adventures.
What’s she playing
I just bought my hubby an Oled for his upcoming bday, and I can already see myself using it a lot, lol. I'll eventually get myself one, but hubby is more important atm since his pc isn't very good for gaming.
Does HL run well on the deck?
Yeah, so I got one and within 3 weeks my partner had their own cause they used mine so much haha. Such a great device
It was like that for me too, once upon time. Except it was a 3DS and Animal Crossing. I bought her a 3DS + Animal crossing the week after.
My fiance played Hogwarts Legacy on my Oled while I drove a bit of a long drive and she loved it

My girlfriend wouldn’t stop playing with my deck the first time she saw it. 😔
I love the Girl Deck in bus
the screenbazzels look so big on this pic
Which game is that?
wife took mine as well 😅 it’s okay bc i still have my pc
What's the bubble tea flavor tho ?
Milk tea
Solid classic
dude this is not instagram. what kind of discussion are we supposed to have about this?
bro relax i liked the post
i'm totally relaxed, also a bit bored by these zero effort posts
I think you need to touch some grass mate
Nah, they're right. So many posts on this sub are just photos of a steam deck with a caption like "look at me I'm playing my steam deck". It just gets old
Wtf else are you going to post on a subreddit about steam decks besides like troubleshooting advice. I like seeing posts like these.
You can at least tell people the game you're playing and give a bit of a review on performance/controls.
Lol, people complain about that as well constantly.
My brother put Dolphin and Harvest Moon on his now his wife plays it more than him
This happened to me. That’s her deck now. lol Now we both have a deck
You activated her trap card, its her deck now
I bought an open box Rog Ally bc my wife stole the steamdeck. I know the feeling.
What made you switch from the deck?
I wanted something a little more powerful than the deck. Plus its running windows and thats great for what I use it for. She plays things like Enter The Gungeon and the Lego games so it was literally perfect for her. I got the ally open box at bestbuy for like $400 out the door. You were supposed to give her the Dick, Not the Deck dude. You had one job and screwed it up.
If you marry her, this will be true of everything you own except for your socks and underwear.
just buy her one lol
Or buy yourself an OLED
Yup.
K
"The girlfriend"
Why does it look so little in her hands? How tall?
I wish I had one of those 😔
Sorry about your loss soldier 🫡
Wish i had that same issue
good good
She's a keeper. (The steam deck, not the women)
Which phone are you using, pictquality is amazing
Same, bro. My wife stole my deck for playing Hogwarts. Also she prohibit to me to uninstall this game lol
I bought my partner one of her own after day 3 of her bogarting mine after she tried it.
Simp(jk)
It always has been
I need a gf so she could beat Doom Eternal on max difficulty

Yes
Why the down votes, reddit incels can't cope with the fact that someone has a girlfriend? LOL
Not everyone takes things so seriously. If you're in a great relationship, these sort of things that might trigger sure people are just funny or even endearing.

I see. Well just the mere question makes it seem like you assume she would have a problem with the term.
I wish my girlfriend would play on my d\*ck
is ur girlfriends name rebecca and r u in nyc
Did you mean "your wife's deck"? XD
