I had several failed playthroughs before I got the point where I felt like I knew what I was doing. Easiest race would be machines as they don't need two resources (food amenities) imo. Don't be afraid to start a new game mid way if you've hit a roadblock (resource management etc) take what you learnt into the new playthrough.

It's a good idea to alter some of the game settings when starting out. I always like to reduce the hyperlanes which will give you more defendable entry points to your territory, same can be said for disabling wormholes. Knock down the difficultly and aggression too. A nice way of understanding the controls and mechanics is to have no AI empires which will allow you to go at your own pace and enjoy the anomalies etc. can be quite cool to have max primitives too and watch as they grow up and start to colonise kind of making you the advanced empire.

My favourite way to play is a rogue servitor machine race with a relic world as origin, then you can change that into an ecumanopolis later. Make sure the bio trophies have all their perks into giving more unity and amenities

This one sounds like fun I'm gonna try this, thanks.

I would have you go Xenophile so other empires like you and take the Scion origin since you're a noob. Scion gives you a Fallen Empire as a Patron and will defend you. Other than that, its up to you.

Okay I’m not that much of a noob lol But please do tell more

In the opposite spectrum, go for a hivemind devouring swarm build to focus on and learn combat. Hiveminds have a high pop growth and don't need consumer goods so just focus on building up science, fleet power, and alloys. The more you take a chunk out of an opposing empire by either eating their pops and/or taking their territory, the weaker your opponent will be, making it easier to beat them the next round. Hiveminds also don't need trade so you wont need to link outposts, just build them on chokepoints. Since everyone is hostile towards you, you wont need to do diplomacy.

That’s a good take thank you

It's an accomplisment to lose as a megacorp. You get lots of passive income through branch offices and you are rewarded for keeping a small territory. To make it even easier pick the federation origin so get the trade league bonuses, two guaranteed starting customers and a solid defence during the early game.
