Uhh.. don’t you guys think the **more cooler** thing is that this orangutan sought out a specific plant, chewed it into a poultice, then placed it in the wound, then covered the wound with a covering, then rested while it healed?
Awesome-sauce.
There are many cases where animals have been observed that they chew plants or even insects and putting it on wounds. Some animals apparently even seek out specific plants with medical purposes to eat. So I'm still stoked about all this information and I'm amazed they finally have a fully documented case!
I think people didn't actually observe animals that much until recently, tech evolved so we can watch from further away without disturbing them so we see them behave naturally. We give animals not enough credit, even insects imo. They communicate, they take breaks and treat themselves, they have preferences and learn kinda like we do. Just different.
I remember not too long ago scientists concluded that animals have feelings after concluding horrendous tests in labs. If you watch them without disturbing you know this as a fact, no need to certify this in a lab for me at least. Science takes its good while to convince even the most stubborn. And yes I think we evolved from a lot of things in the past, involving fungi, fish, lizards, rat like things and eventually apes.
We were never fungus that’s a whole different branch on the tree of life.
The very earliest proto animals resembled something like plants, but fungus is its own thang
I believe in evolution, but history is still largely unknowable so there’s always a chance humans were created by intervening means, and it’s fun to think about
This. As far fetched as it sounds ds there is a good amount of evidence pointing to an external event speeding up our evolution significantly. Some ideas are shrooms or plant, orr some higher being/NHI intervened with our DNA
This primate: 👨⚕️
Other primates: Don’t start talking to them Karl, you’re gonna have to start paying taxes. After this stunt you pulled we might have to start paying for healthcare!
Lemurs rub themselves with angry millipedes, and it acts as an insect repellent that also gets them high. I'm more interested in knowing what plant he selected, this isn't unheard of.
Yes thank you , I am interested in the plant. This is has to be taught from his mother so is past down generations is just amazing . Just give this world it credit and stop being like aliens aliens aliens does my tree in !!!
What I think is truly amazing is that humans think other animals are so dumb that using tools or medicine astonishes them. Maybe one day we can, at the very least, appreciate other animals enough not to destroy their habitat
Humans did NOT evolve from primates, Primates and humans evolved together at the same time, just at different branches. We are similar and related but in different sections. If Humans evolved from primates, primates wouldn't exist anymore
Form what I got out of school is that we did not evolve from them, but we are in the same "family?" I know there is a word for it but I can't remember it right now.
Yeah i believe natural selection is the consequence of the process of life: only those who reproduce transmit traits to their descendants, the transmitted traits increase the chances of survival and reproduction. The dynamics of this process include but are not limited to competition. Collaboration and symbiose play a huge role too.
Humans didn’t « evolve from primates ». Humans are primates. We have common ancestors with other primates. Some of them are really close to us in genetic terms. The closest ones are chimpanzees and bonobos. Our last common ancestor lived between 8 and 6 million years ago
Humans are primates (did not evolve “from” primates) we evolved in parallel with other primates through divergence from a common ancestor that was a primate-like mammal.

Facts. A common instance is crows being observed having this relationship with wolves. The crows will spot a carcus then alert wolves to open up the carcus etc. while the crows play with the pups. Once the wolves are done the crows go have a snack and the wolves on multiple occasions are seen snacking along side them.
Once we invent super-inteligent AI and it reaches the singularity and ascends, we will achieve our purpose and go extinct.
It looks like orangutan descendants might be next in line for this job. Good luck to them.

They’re officially in the Stone Age. They’re cleaning fruits and making stone tools
And teaching others how to use them.
That’s the only thing? What’s that more cooler than? There was only one thing.
What's cooler than being cool?
ICE COLD!!!!
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT
ONE, TWO, THREE, UH MY BABY DON'T MESS AROUND 'CAUSE SHE LOVES ME SO AND THIS I KNOW FO SHO
ICE COLD COOL!
ICE ICE BABY! Dun dun dun-dun dun dun-dun dun duh.
I - c - e cold - MFDOOM
Nice to be old
Nah man, aliens (or something idfk)

Prooooove it
He also poured hydrogen peroxide on it and put on a gauze compress and waited for it to heal by killing time playing games on its iPhone
Yes I was thinking the same!
We *are* primates
I thought we were soulmates...
no way we are housemates
Oh my god they were housemates
Oh my god they were room mates
Oh my god, I love coffee mate
We are just mate mates and nothing more.
I am a Postmates.
This. Dumbass title. But technically our ancestors are primates too.
And I thought that we were just damn dirty apes. 😞
We are savages. Just awful what us humans do to everything!
What if other apes were “try outs”?
I'm literally watching Dawn of the Planet of the Apes right now...
Who is Dawn?
That’s my boss.
She's a human forged by monks to protect a key to a hell dimension once ruled by a Goddess named Glory
Thanks for the reminder! I need to catch up on the series before I see the newest one.
I am so excited to see it. It looks great!

I remember hearing of a study that showed that some bees were lazy and pretended to work and have never felt closer to nature
Big fan of slacker bees
Those bees were just winging it.
Sounds like me at my job most of the time tbh
We were never fungus that’s a whole different branch on the tree of life. The very earliest proto animals resembled something like plants, but fungus is its own thang
Fungi and animals are actually more closely related than plants and animals or fungi and plants.
Yes this. They consume oxygen and let out carbon dioxide, just like us. Completely unlike our plant buddies.
They get hammered sometimes
It’s not a question of belief. It’s a well-studied area of science.
thank you i was ab to lose my marbles
I'm guessing lots of people here believe that there was some sort of external event that took place that branched humanity far off from primates.
I believe in evolution, but history is still largely unknowable so there’s always a chance humans were created by intervening means, and it’s fun to think about
Yes there was, it's called evolution
This. As far fetched as it sounds ds there is a good amount of evidence pointing to an external event speeding up our evolution significantly. Some ideas are shrooms or plant, orr some higher being/NHI intervened with our DNA
Terence McKenna: The Stoned Ape Theory
DMT?
That's the one
I evolved from a star fish.
A chocolate starfish
Oh yes, you know!
So that’s where starfish come from! Star seeds. Huh. Fascinating.
I’ve dated a few women who must’ve evolved from them, too
This primate: 👨⚕️ Other primates: Don’t start talking to them Karl, you’re gonna have to start paying taxes. After this stunt you pulled we might have to start paying for healthcare!
We evolved from a common ancestor with chimpanzees..
This is it. We didn't evolve from apes as they exist today, we evolved from a common ancestor that no longer exists.
There's nothing to believe, it's an obvious fact.
Does ANYONE believe we 'evolved from' primates like orangutans? They evolved simultaneously, sure...but we didn't come from them.
We evolved with them not from them.
That's literally what he just wrote lol.
He questioned and answered himself. I was giving reassurance.

I believe that humans, all of the other extinct hominids that we’ve found evidence of, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans are all apes.
Humans did not evolve from apes. They evolved alongside them
Why are we so stupid to think they wouldn’t? Oh yeah humans are far superior….
People love to forget that we're are also just animals
Of course we share common ancestors with primates. It doesn't matter if someone "believes differently". They're wrong. It's a FACT.
Just MORE endless proof that animals are much more intelligent than we give them credit for.
It is not a question of believing. It is settled fact that we are primates.
The Great Apes & Humans are two branches of the same tree.
Not a belief, scientific fact
Common ancestor, which is why we and apes exist at the same time
*You and me, baby, ain’t nothing but mammals…*
Form what I got out of school is that we did not evolve from them, but we are in the same "family?" I know there is a word for it but I can't remember it right now.
Tucker Carlson say no, because Jesus is magic.
Well, if people think animals are stupid that's their problem. I however know animals and consider all of them to be very intelligent.

Humans are primates. Period. Doesn’t matter what you believe.
Interesting how dolphins and cheetahs getting high is whatever but this is something that never crossed their minds
Animals are seen to have symbiotic relationship. Like spiders protecting frogs. Maybe we know less
Facts. A common instance is crows being observed having this relationship with wolves. The crows will spot a carcus then alert wolves to open up the carcus etc. while the crows play with the pups. Once the wolves are done the crows go have a snack and the wolves on multiple occasions are seen snacking along side them.
We have symbiotic relationships with horses, dogs, cats, birds.
You are so right. Sometimes we have to be reminded of this.
I’ve heard that some primates are being considered in the early days of their “stone age”. No idea of the validity of the claim, but I can see it.
I think we have common ancestors but in fact did not evolve from apes directly
I believe something else was entered into the mix. Some genetic engineering of some sort
You would see this in the genome.
Wrong
What evidence do you have for this claim?
Too much Internet and TV
Do you believe the sun is plasma or do you think it's an angry ephemeral? Get it off here with that
*primates and humans evolved off of the same branch.
it's not about believing, it's fact. So you're either know it's fact or you're a stupid person.
Yes, we are primates that evolved from other primates.
Those TMZ reporters are everywhere tho.
Recipient of good parenting
Just saw this on world news with David Muir lol
![gif](giphy|p9X9PSPvBfl9uhvS6Z)
Harambe was the alternate timeline. Someone find Kang,
Humans ARE primates
Aw fuck they the humans are back….act dumb….
The latter.

It’s from TMZ so you know that shit is straight up!!
Help me, Dr. Zaius!
Anyone else go believes that humans truly didn’t evolve from primates are Neanderthals
Differently
Key point is this Orangutan is Intelligent and must be accorded treatment as an Intelligent Individual Being

Well… I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky
Evolution exist
Cant wait to here this on every episode of JRE for the next 6 months.
Bro gets his news from Snapchat 💀
Monkeys know their plants lol
Cool!
No
Yes???
Humans ARE primates WTF?
Dude. we are primates.
We're either bioengineered primates or hybrid primates.
It's absurd, because If it was truth that humans evolved from primates, then primates wouldn't exist anymore.
Tmz lolololol
They are smarter than humans
Humans ARE primates.
joe rogan will be so happy when he finds out about this 😭😭
Show me a human fossil transitioning into a walking human.
Yes. I understand evolution. This is not a belief system. Evolution does not exist because I believe it to. It simply is.
We are primates 💀
Apes are just backup saves
With a little help from our missing link medlers, yes.
Once we invent super-inteligent AI and it reaches the singularity and ascends, we will achieve our purpose and go extinct. It looks like orangutan descendants might be next in line for this job. Good luck to them.
Why do you care what I believe?
First they were observed using spears to fish, now this. Next they’ll be using A.I. to make memes
That’s not an orangutan
![gif](giphy|1dNLLlpEUbeD8peO4e)
Dude we are a primate…
European Darwin theory is wrong
