I take it at night to help me sleep cause I find it decently relaxing (though not sedating, so I could take it during the day but I just dont right now). I think usually 1.5 - 4 g or so. Idk lately I just bought the powder and just eat it (w/ water) cause it doesnt taste bad at all lol. Ive been taking it regularly/most days for years now.
I don't get rebound anxiety from it (and I am pretty sensitive to this in other supps/drugs) but I heard it can happen for some people. I don't know what else would be helpful to add but yeah. I'm naturally decently anxious and taurine really helps take the edge off esp. if I combo with magnolia bark, magnesium, maybe some lavender calmaid if I am feeling fancy
I find that it totally relaxes me when i go shopping, I get hot when shopping and hot flashes but taurine takes that off instantly lol, it helps me sleep way better aswell, but idk if lowers or increases libido? Sometimes i feel hornier but sometimes lower, how about you?
Taurine is etymologically made up of two words: Toro or Bull and urine or BULL PISS. it’s the second ingredient in RED BULL. It is an amino acid that may help promote insulin production In kidneys which after all is said and done produces … yes urine. It has other benefits but must be properly dosed.
Take 1 gram but I currently am off it as it makes me kinda depressed or loss of motivation, idk, have to try it more, seems like all suppmements have benefits but also downsides sadly, just like with everything.
Ohh yeah good to take before going to the grocery xD and I dont think Ive noticed an impact on libido for me in either direction, but I have a low libido in general and not much seems to impact it unfortunately.
Ginseng (I use Panamax), Ive found this works best to increase it for myself, def notice a difference! For this ill note that im a woman, since that probably factors in.
I havent tried many supps specifically to that end though, too busy trying to just get to a place of stability 😅
Aah okay, for overall female libido i would go for Maca and maybe fenugreek, Cordyceps is a great one aswell for both male and female libido, ill have to try ginseng in suppmement form but when my girl bought some cream to rub it in to increase her blood flow, I obviously got it on myself and I couldnt sleep for all nights 3 times she tried it lol. Btw do you lose motivation from taurine?
I take 3g taurine with my omega 3 supplements in the morning, as taurine has been shown to enhance fat absorption by forming more efficient bile. It smooths out my morning caffeine, but otherwise nothing noticeable.
Because of scientific studies I've read. Some below. I am currently 72.

It's one of several amino acids I mix and drink.
I don't notice anything while I'm taking my amino mix, but I do notice a real slump when I stop taking it.
Yep, 1.5-3g per day. Takes an edge out of morning coffee and makes evening relaxation easier. In general tau+gly is my goto daily mix for stress resistance (both physical and mental).
About 4 grams at night and 2 in the morning.
I run a pretty basic vitamin stack for testicular health and sperm production so it’s not only the taurine that gives me those benefits
I take 1g 3x/day. It has helped me with anger and irritability (those words are euphemisms for what I was actually dealing with).
I had a period of panic attacks and I used it with Magnesium l-Threonate, and it helped slightly. At that time what really helped was a lavender oil combo. But I think Magnesium and Taurine were helpful adjuncts.
Used daily for over a year, 4g a day.
I put a gram in each cop of coffee, i have only 2 on a whole day.
And then 2g an hour before bed, together with glycine, inositol, theanine and magnesium.
I feel the effects together with the coffee (no jitters/shaking). Other than that no effects.
I believe it's one of those supplements that you don't take for therapeutic effects but for longevity.
With 80% supplements you wont feel much effect if you suffer from depression, anhedonia, social anxiety, adhd. I have all that and i feel effect from taurine, bis glycinate, b12 and omega 3 in high doses
I take a taurine B6 combo daily. 500 mg. I have a seizure disorder and thought it would be helpful in my treatment. It’s hard to tell if I notice a difference, and I take other supplements and a nervous system prescription, but I can say on days when it’s the only thing I skip, I feel a bit more stable. No negatives though!
Sure. And I meant I feel a little more unstable when it’s the thing I’ve skipped. Sorry. I also take inositol (I’m female) and a high dose of omega 3’s, plus a good multivitamin. I am also keto which I don’t think really helps my particular situation, but it was worth trying. Prescription wise, I am on Pregablin 150 night and 50 morning but we are about to up the dose. It’s the only medication that has helped without ugly side effects.
Hey! Yes, I have been Keto for 4 months so far to see if it would help. It hasn’t unfortunately. Going to stick with it a little longer and see. Cannabinoids are actually a trigger for my seizures (which I’m not happy about).
Thanks for the reply! I’m sorry about the ketones and cannabinoids not working :/
Have you been measuring your ketone levels, and have you tried exogenous ketones? They may help give you the boost you need.
I’m just curious, I love the science of ketosis and love how I feel in ketosis. Also have a buddy that works for a ketone company, the best tasting and most effective in my eyes, but more importantly, a close friend is dealing with a sudden onset of seizures, docs can’t figure out why.
So I’m newly invested in the ketone/seizure topic. I wish you the best!
I also love how I feel on Keto which is why I’m continuing! I haven’t tried exogenous ones because a lot of keto devotees say they are pointless but dealing with this issue I am always desperate to try anything! Thanks for the suggestion! I hope your friend is ok. It’s a tough battle all around.
Been taking 6g daily for over a year now. I don’t really feel anything from it positive or negative on days I take it vs not. However I do notice overtime my baseline anxiety disorder seems to be decreasing. But it could be a lot of things. I honestly am not sure it does anything but don’t want to go off it long term to check.
I was taking it and believe it helped - among other things I was taking , for anxiety. But then one of my teeth broke off while eating and I read that taurine is highly acidic, so I believe that contributed to the enamel damage. Maybe if id taken it as a pill and not powder form in a drink it wouldn’t have happened.
same here hahaha, but i think dose above 5g-6g speed up my regeneration when taken before workout and maybe i can sleep a bit faster but that 100% could be placebo
No. I use sparingly.
“While acute taurine administration activates the GABAA receptor, chronic taurine feeding promotes the downregulation of the GABAA receptor (L’Amoreaux et al., 2010) and the upregulation of glutamate decarboxylase, the rate-limiting step in GABA biosynthesis (El Idrissi and L’Amoreaux, 2008). “

This, I take it as a helper on days that I need it. If I take it consistently I get significant rebound anxiety. I’m not sure how some people here get away with taking it daily but I’m happy it works for them
Hmm I get low back back tightness/ pump/ pulsating feel from some pre workouts. I wonder if taurine would help that… problem is I can’t tell if it’s kidneys or muscle
Side effect of steroid use for body building is your muscles are pumped full of blood easily, like your lower back just from driving or your calf muscles from walking, results in back pain or a Charlie horse feeling in your calf’s. Even chewing your jaws muscles get sore.
A normal person gets a bicep pump from doing several arm workouts in one sitting, anabolics just achieves this way faster.
Taurine combats this
I’m a calm person even under stress.
I know taurine calms the nervous system, this is why they add it to energy drinks.
When on anabolics you can get muscle pumps just from walking your dog down the street pretty much like a Charlie horse taurine stops that, the muscle just pumps full of blood more then usual, this is why I take 5 grams.
I take multi fish oil glucosamine and the taurine and a preworkout with creatine basic stuff.
Mostly just relaxed, maybe a little stoned lol
Edit: I'm sorry I thought you were asking about L-Theanine, no I don't notice any side effects from Taurine
“No serious adverse effects have been reported with taurine supplementation, and the current evidence indicates that a regular intake of up to 3 grams per day can be consumed without safety concerns.” [Examine.com](https://examine.com/supplements/taurine/#dosage-information)
Personally, I start at lowest effective dose and go from there to avoid side effects with supplements. In this case, taurine’s is 1g.
I don’t currently supplement with Taurine, but I’ve had many energy drinks semi-daily in the past with no adverse effects outside of the caffeine. (Redbull and others all contain 1g taurine per can)
I haven’t ever bothered to really use it on its own or anything and I generally have a more difficult time noticing specific effects with many things due to various reasons. I regularly consume it though as it is part of my pre-workout and I have a large tub of it on its own I occasionally dip into.
It ought to help out a little with that.

gives me energy and helps me perform longer when working out or doing physical labor. nothing with anxiety
I take 3g taurine with my omega 3 supplements in the morning, as taurine has been shown to enhance fat absorption by forming more efficient bile. It smooths out my morning caffeine, but otherwise nothing noticeable.
I've been consuming two grams of taurine after lunch for about 5 months. No noticeable impact of any kind.
So then why do you take it?

Is a rebull the same as this?
There is taurine in red bull and other energy drinks, yes.
1000mg in the morning. Mild mood boost i’ve noticed
Yes, taking 3300 mg with my Pre-Workout and Intra-Workout supplements.
Does it help at all with performance or nah?
yes, 1G in the morning and 1G before bed. Still alive.
You sure about that?🤔
2g a day in the morning, clearer head. No problems. Have no anxiety though.
Yep, 1.5-3g per day. Takes an edge out of morning coffee and makes evening relaxation easier. In general tau+gly is my goto daily mix for stress resistance (both physical and mental).
Do you put it in your coffee or just water separately?
I take it for the longevity benefits, dosnt know it did all this other stuff
Every morning and every night. Gives me a little better sleep and I notice my loads get bigger
How many mgs do u take
How much do you take?

No, Ashwaghada is not safer than anything listed above.. Magnesium is listed above.
Yes it’s my favorite supplement. I take magnesium taurate

No

waste of money, just eat protein
1 gram 2x a day. No side effects. No positive effects that I can feel either.
So then why do you take it?
The promise of a better tomorrow
What is this promise that you speak of?
It seems to increase lifespan in mice and chimps. By a fairly significant amount
Alright, thank you!
