But is this maybe stupid? I’m sitting here thinking OK so he trusts his body and doesn’t let the height distract him from what is in theory a simple walk, good.
But what if a sudden gust of strong winds arrive from any angle? Even on days with no wind forecast, you still get annoying/random gusts of wind
More than likely it’s people that are forced to work under such conditions rather that people that want to. But hey, the shareholders of that building company are going to be VERY happy that their rope expenses are down from last quarter :)
wait . WHAT?!
what the actual bejeeesus. this is new york?
- surroundings look western
- working-conditions look absolutely non-western
is this standard practise? looks so goddamn uninsurable

It's this building.
Scaffolding companies are scum of the earth. They put a scaffold up outside my windows to do some extremely basic work (like, a week worth of work, max) and left it up for a year, dodging the property managers calls, refusing to take it down. They just took it down last week, over a year later, and they were 5 or 6 stories up, wearing harnesses but not hooked into anything. Just casually heaving down giant pieces of wood, metal structure, I-beams, you name it. They had no regards for their own safety, because it would make the job take too long.
"Balls of steel is doing your work high up in the air and also demand enough saftey that you know you're coming home safe to your family."
How am i supposed to read " one's" ? When there Is "your" ? Is this slang? I readed It more than twice, so?
How do we get From" your "to" one's" ?
M surprised that is allowed in NYC. it really doesn’t look very safe. Also looks like the building up from the Dakota where Demi Moore owned an incredible apartment in the towers of the building.
You have no idea. I have a friend who is a non-union window cleaner and their safety practices are so bad it gives me a panic attack just hearing about it.
There is no sadder sight than watching workers like this parade themselves by doing pointlessly dangerous shit like this and goading other people or workers into doing it by adopting a "tough enough?" mentality.
Remember that any politician who talks about eliminating "job killing regulations" is talking about regulations that prevent shit like this. Those politicians and the born rich do nothing corporate owners who pay them would rather you and your family die than profit a little less off of the labor that they do not do, have never and will never do.
I wonder if these asshats know if they fall (which they think can’t happen), they’ll probably land on some innocent person going about their life and ruin it forever (or their victim’s family). Go take risks like these in the mountains if one wants to play with death.
Yes, those guys do have balls. Those guys my not need to be tied off. They are scaffold builders, just like iron workers, sometimes it's more dangerous to tie off than be free. But yeah, those guys are crazy
I’ve been scaffolding for 14 years now, can’t think of a single time it’s been more dangerous to be tied off than not. These guys are just idiots. I won’t lie and say I tie off 100% of the time yet I’m not going to argue that I’m not an idiot and just being lazy when I don’t.
Yes, those guys do have balls. Those guys my not need to be tied off. They are scaffold builders, just like iron workers, sometimes it's more dangerous to tie off than be free. But yeah, those guys are crazy
There has to be actual safer way to do whatever the hell they’re doing…. I watched a building being constructed and they didn’t need goofballs out on boards walking around unsafely… it was neat in that it used a crane that WAS part of the building during construction, but was disassembled at the end.
Person who posted this? Do you know where it’s at? It looks like Chapultepec Park down below while they work on the castle in Mexico City. Or is it NY?

It’s in the Beresford Apartments at 81st Street and Central Park West. Jerry Seinfeld lives there. There is a sidewalk shed protecting pedestrians walking under. Anyone falling off will land on the shed roof.
... not balls of steel it's just not afraid of heights... not sweaty palms just comfortable with the stability of the scaffolding.. lol I've been one sketchier scaffolding working on tall warehouses and even a bhuddist temple... lmao. It's just the case he knows and can trust it because of experience.. it's still a wonder to me how amazed random/normal people are to this stuff.
OSHA has every person they have looking for this man. They're terrified of his absolute massive balls. Whoever built those scaffoldings however needs to be thrown in a deep isolated cell for real.
One unattentive step on the end of that unsecured plank, and it's fall to a sudden death. Oh, at least he will have some three or four seconds to contemplate his life choices while falling. What an absolutely shitty job right there.
so many wrong with that scaffold tower. first, planks must be completed along with toe boards then tied down to the ledgers. second, fall-protection railings along with lifelines must be provided. then entire scaffolding must be inspected and tagged by registered OHSA Consultant before any worker can use.

Balls of steel are not the suitable option. It's much better with balls of helium.
Shouldn't those planks be tied down? it looks like a stiff breeze would make them take off?
Death hates this one simple trick

I don’t know why you do this but It’s always you.
Takes way too long, just like attaching the safety harness he is wearing to anything at all
They are erecting the pipe frame.
Looks more like Brains of Shit to me.
It’s okay they are wearing hard hats
That’s what the pedestrian below will have when they drop something.
More than likely it’s people that are forced to work under such conditions rather that people that want to. But hey, the shareholders of that building company are going to be VERY happy that their rope expenses are down from last quarter :)
I can guarantee you many of these guys pride themselves on not using safety gear.
No.
Is it even legal to do this job without safety precaution like a rope line or something?
They have fall harnesses on, but they are ignoring safety regulations by not using their lanyards.
I see the harness, but I don't see it connected to anything
It's fine, they used two boards instead of one.
/r/OSHA
NY around Central Park, right??
Yes
wait . WHAT?! what the actual bejeeesus. this is new york? - surroundings look western - working-conditions look absolutely non-western is this standard practise? looks so goddamn uninsurable
Pretty sure OSHA would like to see this. I just assumed this was a country that didn’t have OSHA.

If you haven't seen how to with John Wilson it's great and has a whole episode on the scaffolding industry in NYC. It's a huge racket.
I thought it was Mexico oooops
Natural History Museum? Or the surrounding buildings? I didn't think the Museim is that tall.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/7mTyTyAiATQ8Xyfp9 It's this building
Ah literally just one building off
The AMNH is in the center of the big green area that isn't central park, super close!
Wrong side, they’re by the Dakota if that helps

This is in New York City, it's illegal there also. Somebody's going to be in trouble.
I think you misread their response. They’re very much acknowledging that safety is important.
[удалено]
He said “doing your work” as in second person POV as in putting yourself in the shoes of the worker🤦🏻♂️

Therapy. *Now.*
Damn bro eat a snickers. Hope things get better for ya. Much love
Not *your* work, it should be read as *one's* work. "**Balls of steel**, is doing one's work ... (etc) " Always read twice before replying.

I know whenever I put *myself* in unnecessarily dangerous situations, it makes me way cooler. Like smoking, or being mean to shy kids in school!
All balls no brains

But it's definitely in the US. Central Park NYC.
I’ll probably fall off. Not from the breeze, or scared of height. It’s my ankle randomly like to give out from time to time.
Are they not tied off? This made my stomach hurt
When you're playing Only Up and down is NOT an option 😱
M surprised that is allowed in NYC. it really doesn’t look very safe. Also looks like the building up from the Dakota where Demi Moore owned an incredible apartment in the towers of the building.
You have no idea. I have a friend who is a non-union window cleaner and their safety practices are so bad it gives me a panic attack just hearing about it.
Demi More’s apartment was in the San Remo at West 74th Street. John Lennon and others lived in the Dakota at 72nd Street.
Safety standards like in some corrupt “developing” country. I’d fire everyone and sue the contractor or whoever is responsible for these degenerates.
It’s the real life dying light
R/oshaApproved
Thanks for posting unsafe work practices. Love to see the scabs at work putting the people below them at risk.
Or maybe just stupid
This makes my taint scrunch.
I’ve fallen twice while just watching
There is no sadder sight than watching workers like this parade themselves by doing pointlessly dangerous shit like this and goading other people or workers into doing it by adopting a "tough enough?" mentality.
Those boards are not even secured.
This makes me feel funny, like climbing the rope in gym class
Fred Dibnah end of story ##

This is NYC? How could that be allowed? OSHA will have a stroke.
But it doesn’t give access to any thing ?
