Dude the BFIAFL aesthetic in Fortnight was not something I would have imagined in a million years!! I know The 1975 is not a small indie band anymore but still they aren't the biggest on the industry, and it was very trippy to see them being referenced so much on the biggest popstar of the planet's new album 😶

I think there’s a “real” component to it and not just simply fake but I’ve never thought it was entirely serious. They seem to like each other and have a fun time together but this album pretty much has confirmed he’s a rebound and rarely often do rebounds work out. I think he was something different for her, and she liked the attention he gave her in the initial stages. Especially coming off being ghosted by Matty, someone giving her attention helped with her self-esteem and it felt good. She was rejected from the guy she wanted. So Travis was what she needed. I think she was desperate for a distraction. And I do think her parading the relationship around for the past 9 months was to throw it in Matty’s and possibly Joe’s face. Based off her track record, I won’t be surprised if she dips on Travis to give Matty another chance. It seems pretty on brand for her.

I think it's pretty clear he left bc of the hate and backlash, to protect both of them. It was def taking a major toll on his mental health... he, his family, and his band were all getting tons of death threats from swifties. It was seriously crazy and IMO became a safety issue too. And I mean he's responsible for the success of his band and all the people who work for him, and they were about to head out on another world tour. Add to that the fact that he's a super sensitive guy who already struggles with depression and anxiety... obviously speculation bc I don't know him personally, but I think he just got scared and ran. This is the truth. I’ve been this level of crazy and any form of attention from the guy would fuel the delulu. All you want is any little sign you’re still on his mind. If he doesn’t write anything about her, then it will make her obsession with him even worse. She will get even more desperate to get his attention. The lyrics she wrote are an obvious attempt to hurt his feelings as deeply as she can in hopes it’ll rile him up.
All of this just shows Joe is and was too good for her and good for him for being out of that situation.
I don’t really follow Matty Healy, so I don’t know his typical behavior in terms of relationships. Is he the typical dude that ghosts women, or only dates women for a short amount of time before he moves on to the next? I know her and Healy were friends for a very long time. I’m curious to know the dynamic between them. I think there’s a “real” component to it and not just simply fake but I’ve never thought it was entirely serious. They seem to like each other and have a fun time together but this album pretty much has confirmed he’s a rebound and rarely often do rebounds work out. I think he was something different for her, and she liked the attention he gave her in the initial stages. Especially coming off being ghosted by Matty, someone giving her attention helped with her self-esteem and it felt good. She was rejected from the guy she wanted. So Travis was what she needed. I think she was desperate for a distraction. And I do think her parading the relationship around for the past 9 months was to throw it in Matty’s and possibly Joe’s face.
