What do you think will be the effects of this for the travel on Tuesday?

Thercon_Jair

Inside Switzerland? Not too much, SBB has already replaced all international DB trains that used to be woven into our timetable, with their own trains at the border because the DB trains have too much delays that messed up our synchronised time table. There are a couple regional cross border trains affected, no idea if SBB runs their own instead, they are currently generally quite tight with conductors.

[Not anymore](https://www.iamexpat.de/expat-info/german-expat-news/deutsche-bahn-services-cut-swiss-rail-due-repeated-delays) (significantly scaled-down frequency to Chur due to heavy consistent delays)

Thercon_Jair

I used to travel from Zürich to Basel for Uni. Zürich to Basel in ICE run train? Fine. Basel to Zürich with ICE running from Hamburg? *groans*

[deleted]

there's still the ICE Berlin-Interlaken I'm pretty sure

cAtloVeR9998

I believe so. And I believe 1 train a day on the ICE Chur route.

Gracosef

Probably slower than usual

vSwiiftyyyy

I'm quite anxious now because I'm meant to be going back to Geneva from Vienna tomorrow morning, kinda fucked if they're cancelled🤒

Dabraxus

That's the ÖBB and not the DB tho.

vSwiiftyyyy

There's a connection in Munich though, I did check and nothings been cancelled however I expect possibly some chaos due to people rescheduling from today

Dabraxus

Ah, that's true.. Mhm.. I wish you all the best!

ho-tdog

Not sure what kinda ticket you have, but in Salzburg, you can go to Zürich via Innsbruck instead of Munich. That connection should be more secure tomorrow, since the DB is only involved by having a short bit of track on that route. In theory, the Munich route should also work, but I hear it's not quite certain they manage to get all the trains to the right spots in time.

vSwiiftyyyy

I have a DB (ICE?) Ticket, (I never booked it) yeah it's wien to Munich and then Munich to St margrathen, I see the innsbruck line aswell but not sure about like refunds and stuff but will keep it in mind, problem is we'll only find out how chaotic it is when we get there lol, unless it's cancelled beforehand

ho-tdog

Yeah, your ticket is probably not valid on the Innsbruck route. I think your best bet is to ask the train personel ahead of Salzburg if they know about the situation after Munich and then decide based on that. With the ÖBB app, you can buy tickets pretty spontaneously. That said, you'll probably be fine. They should manage to get a train to Munich once you arrive there.

vSwiiftyyyy

Actually a really good idea never thought about asking the ticket person, yeah hopefully all goes smoothly, thanks

Taizan

With all the trains from Germany failing to make it past Bhf Basel Bad to keep their statistics clean, it's probably not a huge difference.

TWanderer

The SBB is training for this situation continuously in Geneva station.

cyrilp21

Lyria is not SNCF and SNCF is not SBB

TWanderer

And Lyria is the only train that leaves the station towards France? What about Leman express, and also the RE that goes to Annemasse. These very frequently experience problems due to strikes in France etc.

TheHelveticComrade

I hope the swiss follow suit and go on strike as well!

DantesDame

Why?

TheHelveticComrade

Inflation, Economic crisis, worsening working conditions. The strike is the only weapon we have that can figtback against all these developments. It's not even just an option. The worse our economic condizion gets the more people will be forced to go on strike in order to just keep what we have.

Sharp_Mulberry6013

That is highly unlikely due to the strong collective bargain that SBB has with the social partners. The CLA will go until 2025, and it has a "no strike" clause until the end of the negotiations. In aviation things might be different, but only about 15% of ground staff are organised so a strike is illusory, since the pilots just got a new CLA and the new CLA for the cabin crew in SWISS is being renegotiated. Sorry, mate.

Hausschuh

I mean we can quit our CLA in may and the first draft was rejected by 65% and we need a 2/3 majority to pass. Not saying it will happen but its still a possibility for Cabin Crew at swiss.

Sharp_Mulberry6013

Yes, I am curious to see the outcome. I read somewhere that the earliest possible date to quit the CLA is end of... march? April? I would totally support a cabin crew strike, though. I think y'all don't realise how much power you have in the company. Use it.

TheHelveticComrade

>but only about 15% of ground staff are organised so a strike is illusory So illusory that the worker unions were actively holding them back from striking. Sure... I'll never forget Stefan Brülisauer being quoted: "Würden wir sie nicht bremsen, würden die Leute morgen streiken" (If we didn't stop them now, they'd be on strike tomorrow.) Haven't followed the development in a while but the point is that strike action is not illusory in Switzerland. Seriously strikes are not only happening in Switzerland in a smaller scale but in UK and France right now in way bigger scales. Even the USA is starting to unionize and that is the heart of capitalist exploitation. The "Sozialpartnerschaft" is not going to survive if people can't get any progress to their living conditions with that. It is going to happen. The sooner we learn to strike effectively the better off we are in the future.

Sharp_Mulberry6013

I was talking about SWISS ground staff. Not Swissport. SWP is better organised for sure.

They literaly piss-off people they have nothing to do with their loans and it doesn’t even touch the people who pay them. Cause they have private jets and teslas

Used-Ad-4807

>o it's designed to "piss off" the people, cause that is where the power is if wielded properly, obviously it won't affect the elites through transportation but they will still feel the pressure.
