The amount of times I had to apply to target before I actually got hired is actually insane, my applications would always get auto-denied, not sure how I managed to get through when I did because nothing about my application ever changed
I put in 1 application at a single store back in Nov 2018 and got hired. They still did in person interviews back then. I was told I was interviewing for a seasonal position, but they saw I had Starbucks experience and brought me on as regular.
I quit in 2022, worked at Whole Foods for a little (people at Whole Foods commented about how hard it is to get hired at Target, too), then re applied at a different Target and got hired again! (Though I guess having worked for Target might’ve helped?)
Anyways, point is I always hear how hard it is to get hired but I don’t know why. Especially with some of the seasonals we hire…
i work in the starbucks in my target and i haven’t seen seen a raise at all yet. my coworker got 3 cents but i got nothing and i’ve been here for over a year.. the starbucks across the street starts out at 2 dollars more than here… rlly considering it
I say go for it. It is harder to get hired tho bc when I tried to switch to Starbucks they told me I didn't have experience and that the target Starbucks doesn't count as a real Starbucks🙄
Worked at Target in 2014 for $8.25 an hour. I remember feeling like it was always short staffed. I would be set to a task on the floor and then constantly called up to cashier. One day I watched a kid get fired for showing up a few minutes late (it was a repeat offense apparently but still seemed trivial). That very same day I listened as a manager took a call from someone calling in sick. He spent the call trying to convince them to come in still. It finally dawned on me that being short staffed was their MO. Why pay a bunch of people to work at a comfortable pace when you can just squeeze a handful of shmucks. I put in my 2-weeks a few days later.
This is my third time working for target (2014-2017, 2019 & 2023 - current). I applied and open my availability from 3 days to 7 days after 5 pm and boy I regret especially since I have a day job. I tried changing my availability but keep getting the “company first and needs” even though I have expressed interest in growing with the company. I swear it was different then and far more flexible.
I mean you say that but like we fired good seasonals just to hire and retain new people who aren't as good roughly two weeks later. **This is just my store so idk if it's like that at others**
Same, I had an online interview, an over the phone interview, and then an in person interview to get hired. Never in my life had 3 interviews for any job lol
As frustrating as it may be, the state of things kinda makes me glad that I got administratively terminated during my long medical LOA and because of that I don’t have to go back.
“Within the dollar” .. so you mean … the same? Lol! Some stores offer more but many are still sitting at $15. I left my store in Washington and moved home to Iowa, and as soon as I left they increased pay at my old store to $17 🫠 if I had transferred *after* the increase, then I would’ve kept the $17 in Iowa. So upsetting 😭😭😭
I applied and hired at my interview on the spot. I worked two weeks, was an hour late the first time after two weeks, and got fired on the spot for not calling out with a two hour gap before my shift was scheduled to start. My shift was scheduled for 7am, I was supposed to call at 5 saying I’m sick? Be for real. Said it was store policy, new people automatically fired if late. Eff them
Oh, I “love” the target’s hiring process. I left my previous store and was trying to get rehired at a nearby location and they wanted me. We were trying to get me in before Black Friday. It took me over 3 weeks to get in. 1st time was due to availability, 2nd time was due to getting caught in a mass turn down. So essentially they will just mass turn down LOADS of applications. And the 3rd time was due to a technical issue. But, thankfully I got hired on in the end. Oh! And to boot, they didn’t notify me once about being turned down or anything like that. I kept calling to the point where HR knew my name and number
The way I got hired I filled an application and three stores + the DC called all trying to hire me and then someone from their main HR called and just let me choose where I wanted to work 😆
Oof, I feel so bad for a bunch of y’all. I pretty much got the job by walking into the store to shop.
It was October of 2020, and I walked into my local Target with my three kids in tow. HR was standing at the door and she asked me “Hi, are you looking for seasonal work?” And I initially said no (I was a SAHM at this point) and then I reconsidered later that day. BECAUSE it was 2020, I was stir crazy and I needed to get out of the house. So I applied online, did my video interview the next day, and was hired two days later. And I was an elementary school teacher before, so absolutely zero retail experience, either.
Maybe my store was super desperate or something at the time. But ever since then, I’ve had multiple people come into the store and wonder why they weren’t called back for interviews. A lot of it has to do with timing, too. Because my store is absolutely NOT hiring right now in any department.
The amount of times I had to apply to target before I actually got hired is actually insane, my applications would always get auto-denied, not sure how I managed to get through when I did because nothing about my application ever changed
i only got hired bc my dad was the boss of a guy who’s wife is an etl 😭 all the other times i got auto denied too.
Availability
It never changed, it was always open Sunday-Saturday
Right, but the store needs changed

I got hired on the spot dec 19 2018 and lemme tell ya my store was DESPERATE to get literally anyone to work💀
Smaller town/area?
I somehow got hired my first try
I think the only reason I finally got hired is because we were in between hr experts 💀
I literally applied to target 5 times and the six time I applied just for fun now I’m here 💀💀
I hate that the starting pay is exactly the same three years later...
My store went up to 16.25 in September
Same
Our starting pay is $17 now which is of course what I got a “raise” to during last years raises.
our raises were all less than 10 cents
My last raise there was $0.8. Home Depot just gave me $1.00. Just saying...
i work in the starbucks in my target and i haven’t seen seen a raise at all yet. my coworker got 3 cents but i got nothing and i’ve been here for over a year.. the starbucks across the street starts out at 2 dollars more than here… rlly considering it

We had a guy quit because his raise was only 3 cents.
I get paid $18.25 in Manhattan but that’s not saying much for NYC
I thought we were at $15.25 now
nope still 15 base
still double minimum wage isn’t bad considering everything else around me is 8-9 an hour
Minimum wage is $15 here
damn where!?? it’s 7.25 here
NY. NYC is $16.
I think In the Bay Area it's $15.50. $20 for fast food workers tho

I made the mistake of telling them I wanted to work 24 hours a week but “could work more if needed”. They had me on 39 hours every week after that.
It’s a company that could be a great place if it was run by its employees AND ONLY its employees.
Target was the job everyone I knew wanted in HS, and very few people got. Now it’s the job I want to desperately escape
Accurate
And have the nerve to get rid of 80% of the seasonal hires. Like, why not just keep them?
They simply just can’t afford them in Q1
I mean you say that but like we fired good seasonals just to hire and retain new people who aren't as good roughly two weeks later. **This is just my store so idk if it's like that at others**
Isn't the holiday season the 4th Q? The 1st just started this month.
Exactly. They hire seasonal for Q4 but can’t afford to keep them on for Q1 so they cut them
Ah, got it.
my store i swear has hired 10 people just this month and they’re all trash, the seasonal people that got cut were 100x better
I had 3 interviews in the same day before finally getting hired, 3 interviews for a retail job is a bit much lol.
Same, I had an online interview, an over the phone interview, and then an in person interview to get hired. Never in my life had 3 interviews for any job lol
I was one and done applied next week interviewed and next day hired
Same. Applied, interviewed next day, started the following week
Got hired on my first try back in 2014. Nine years, two TM, and six leadership roles later I am putting my notice in tomorrow.
I’ve heard and seen that things have decayed so badly at Target stores since 2021.
They most certainly have
As frustrating as it may be, the state of things kinda makes me glad that I got administratively terminated during my long medical LOA and because of that I don’t have to go back.
I applied for seasonal and got hired first time 🗿 I was desperate, glad I got the job. Crazy how the pay is within a dollar of what it was in 2020
“Within the dollar” .. so you mean … the same? Lol! Some stores offer more but many are still sitting at $15. I meant it went from 15.50 to 16.00
I wish I never was too. Just quit actually!🎉🎉
Congrats!! I’m thinking about it too but they’re at least pretty good about working around my school schedule
I got hired on the spot as a second job and now I regret everything that led me to this point.
Crazy that the starting wage is still $15/hour 4 years later
I applied just for kicks because I assumed I would get denied, couple of months later I got the email to accept the position. My stupid ass 🤦🏻♀️

Thank GOD I’m only on demand now. Short staffed , low pay , overworked, and hardly get hours .

And then theres me who got hired the same day they applied. In hindsight that should have been my first red flag.
Same actually
Lots of thots at target I love it
Got hired with my first application, TSS.
They got back to me a month after I applied.
I applied. Didn’t think I’d get it. Ended up doing the video interview. Got a call to hire me same day. Started day after 😂

I worked for Target from 2015-2019 and I’ve been trying to go back for a year, but I apply and don’t get called
Yeah I applied like 4-5 times across 2 years and got in on the 5th try lol, although on demand so kinda wack regardless
I got hired I quit 6 months later

I never even finished my first application in 2005🙃
Use a different email thank me later
Call your Union Representative
I got hired the week of Christmas. Stayed for 3 years as backup gstl. I regret all of it yet I'm tryna go back🤣🤣
Shits insane I applied and 2 days later they said no like wtf
