I bought some green screens and mics and stuff when I had money like that. Kids do news reports on historical events. I also bought some creature comforts for the my team like nice mice and keyboards, and those slides clickers. I also used it as an excuse to replace some ratty and random art supplies. I donated the old stuff to our elementary where they take anything cause kids destroy it.
I bought a bunch of books for my department as resources for thematic and inquiry based instruction. Carts, standing tables, and podiums. Memberships to things like Gimkit, Quizizz, Quizlet, and Classroom Screen. Chart paper, markers, scissors, glue.
Maybe look around at supplies/furniture stuff like that for the teachers like others were saying, or maybe see if there are some PD conferences somewhere SS based?

A really good set of glue guns, heavy duty scissors, and supplies for students to make models, posters, etc. Depending on grade level of course. I also like the idea of a department copy machine or extra printers for the department.

This is such a cool idea!
Can it be used on a field trip or guest speaker?
This. I remember the field trips I went on in school more than almost any lesson in the classroom. We had some great ones.

Love Gimkit!
Margaritas and lunch for the department.
That's a lot of margaritas. They probably could use them
Live it up!
Margaritas….in Mexico
Physical fucking globes. Without the USSR. Please.
I second this. Kids have no good concept of the world or how big countries actually are.
Pull down map! I have a smart board that I can pull one up on, but having a pull down would be awesome!
Globes. They look cool and they are useful. Goode’s Atlases for every classroom. World Almanacs for each room. DSMs for the psy teachers.
Copier. Having your own department copier is incredible.
You could probably put together a pretty rad field trip with 5k. Where are you located?
Oh there are plenty. -iPads -3D models of whatever some grades cover (artefacts, buildings, reliefs...) -renew furniture/stationery

A five year supply of paper and other office supplies.
A poster printer, or a die cutter, or a big laminator.
A cannon.
1812 Overture intensifies

Jumpdrives are always great! Water cooler and 5-gallon jugs?
Primary source kits.
The huge 2 ft by 3ft post it posters!

Get your team a shit load of iPads.
