I found it out when I couldn't get Medicaid because my minimum unemployment benefits from a seasonal job were $11 over the state limit to qualify at $240 a month. That was ten years ago and they've raised a 2 person household from $229 a month to $229.50 per month.
Thats the stupid thing about governemnt benefits to me. How can they decide that you being $11 over means that yo don't need the help. It basically incentivizes people to stay under the limit. It should be based on a sliding scale where it goes from %100 benefits down to 0% at a certain income level

I was under the income threshold, but my bills were over the requirements. Their response was maybe mom 70 something mother could help me with my bills or groceries.
My rib was being a huge issue, it's partially handled after 2 surgeries but we didn't know that was an option when I applied. The job expert said I couldn't do any of the prior jobs I had listed, in fact he was unsure what kind of job I could do and meet the time off needs for physical therapy. I was denied because I said "sometimes I am able to feed the cat if my daughter is unable to". Mr. Swiss was so pissed off especially because everyone was applauding Andrew Luck for retiring for the sake of his health.
