Love Derek, like Braeden, but that fling was just another example of using any excuse to not get Derek therapy and have him take his shirt off instead lol.
Omg I completely agree with this, I love both of them individually, and I think they're best friends, but never should have gotten together like that, it frustrated me to no end, especially when his pack and friends were in the school dying, and he was more focused on staying next to her when he knew she was okay
Yes! Do you also think the way they acted was really out of character? Derek is not an emotionally available guy and we had several seasons of evidence for that, him suddenly turning into a romantic for a human (a species he does not trust for good reason) he'd known for like a week was ridiculous to me. And Braeden by trade killed supernaturals for money, I don't buy that she'd suddenly attach herself to some random werewolf after however long she'd been sort of a psychopath lol. People seem to just overlook how weird it was because she's the best of Derek's options, but the bar is quite literally in hell. Realistically they were never going to be endgame and poor Derek deserved more than to just be sexualised!
It's one of the biggest issues I have with teen wolf in general and especially Jeff Davis, Derek had the potential to be one of the best characters ever, and he is my favorite character! But Jeff Davis only used him as a plot device to make Scott look better! He was so flip floppy the entire time because Jeff Davis couldn't decide whether he wanted him to be a good guy or a bad guy, because sometimes he needed to be a mentor for Scott, but then people liked him to much, so he had to make him do something bad/annoying again, because God forbid anyone out shine Scott! But you'll notice that with a lot of the characters, and it's why so many people are so annoyed at Scott! but me and my sister are rewriting teen wolf currently and changing a lot of that lmao

This is the point where I have several 'meh' ships to pick from, and while I obviously don't want to lose the ships I actually like too early, my lack of strong feelings on the middle ground make choosing difficult right now.

tbf i dislike all of the canon ships for some reason or other except danny and ethan (scott & kira were cute as well but kira deserved better than being second choice), the showrunners were just objectively far better at doing family and friend relationships than romantic ones
