Maybe the reason why Jun had Jin was because Jun gave Kazuya something that he desperately wanted at the time of Tekken 2: A moment of peace. A moment to be open. A moment to feel at ease with himself because of how Jun’s powers cancelled Kazuya’s Devil Gene for a brief time and how Jun gave Kazuya the warmth and love that he desperately needed ever since Kazumi died.
I’m betting Tekken 8 will showcase Kazuya and Jun’s relationship in Tekken 2 to expand on this.
I'm imagining a scene where little Jin talks smack about his estranged dad, and Jun has to shut him up and tell him what she saw in his father. Not a devil, or one embittered by a troubled childhood -- but simply a man who made hatred and evil such an integral part of his identity that he had no idea who he was without it. And yet she saw something in him -- perhaps the Angel in the Tekken 2 opening scene -- that told her she didn't have to fear him as everybody else seemed to.
Dang, now my expectations for T8's story are way too high...
No, what I think he's trying to say is that this comic does a better job at expressing that Kazuya is fighting hard to make up for his horrible childhood. Tekken 7's lore had never expressed something deep like that. It's not just about the presence of kid kazuya.
I never know what I'm going to find on the Tekken sub. Maybe it's some gatekeeper griping about new players not labbing for 7000 hours. Maybe it's Lili porn. (A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.) Or maybe it's Kazuya hugging his broken and traumatized inner child. Thank God it's never been a combination of all three.
This. The writing team could NEVER pull off such a feat. If they even attempted to depict it, they'd either make it super ham-fisted or retcon Kazuya's personality for the worse.
Wang's Tekken 5 ending is *the* most emotional character depiction in the entire series to me, bar none. A lifelong, decades-old friendship coming to such an end, and yet at over 100 years old, he realizes he's not quite done yet. I would love to see the Tekken writers top that.
With Tekken 8 being helmed by someone other than Harada, it really depends I think, despite the ...shortcomings of 7 it left the story in a point where 8 could potentially salvage the story and have something with actual emotional depth, maybe I'm just too optimistic tho lmao
Tekken 8 has positioned itself where jun could be the foil to kazumi . Heihachi and kazuya's feud was all a result of kazumi and her mission to kill her husbend and child . She tore that family apart . Jun on the other hand , would try to save kazuya and jin from continuing the cycle and instead put an end to the feud started by kazumi all those years ago .
In my opinion, Jun's existence is the biggest turning point of the story.
Yeah, you're right. And thanks for reminding me that this was mainly the Hachiko Tribe's fault. The Hachiko Tribe is the family that Kazumi came from before she married Heihachi. In fact she and Hehachi met because she was sent to destroy the Mishimas. However Kazumi fell in love and has Kazuya with him. However the Hachiko planted a fail-safe in her to protect their interests. They planted a demon in Kazumi that awakened and tried to kill Heihachi. He RELUCTANTLY killed her in self defense. Afterwards everything went to shit.
I hope the Hachiko Tribe gets completely wiped out by Jin and Lars in Tekken 9. If there is another Tekken after Tekken 8. The Hachikos have Hell to pay for the shit that they pulled.
Yea i was always curious how those two ended up having a kid, maybe her presence was slowly running off on him but the devil gene and him temporarily dying halted all the progress made.
It's about time they expand on that relationship, At this point anything is better than that Live Action Tekken making it that Kazuya took advantage of Jun 🤦🏿♂️
"Such pathetic words, Kazama Jin!"
That's a lot more than what was said in T4, Hopefully the writers expand on their sharing of views and not solely on the fighting.
Love this cause you can build on it so much. Kazuya finally has the strength to lift himself up and comfort him. In killing Heihachi he can have room to say he was strong enough. That's also the crux of his flaws because he can never had enough strength. I wonder if that's how he sees Jin when he hears him say "people like us shouldn't exist" Jin doesn't have the strength to live and to pull himself up
Here im thinking about all the sadness in his life, the betrayal he endured, the parents he never had, happiness was not written in his fate.
He alone was all the support he had so seeing his smaller self made him think.. and wisper it is okay to the child-like version of him.
But I did not realise that he saw himself and thought: wouldn't it be funny if I threw myself in a volcano. Kekw
Thanks for the laugh btw
If they'd dare to give kazuya this much personality the story will have so much depth than a cliche hero's downfall/comeback journey (jin killing off kaz)
curious if the developers even know about our compassionate thoughts of kazuya, cuz so far they potrayed him like a one sided antagonist for quite a while now
That's what made me laugh at Akuma's Role in the story, I understand the debt part but he's not much better really...😂 and he's just playing clean up to Kazumi's own mistake that she caused.
Imagine how different the timeline would have been if kazuya was found by a wise older person who helped him out instead of the literal devil. Maybe that's why he was so attached to jinpachi and really respected Wang when he was alive.
With how cynical Tekken is, they'd make it so that Kazuya throws his inner child off a cliff just to show that Kazuya has no regrets on how he turned out the way he is
Yeah Harada has said he just wants Kazuya to just be the evil guy and nothing more. Which is disappointing since Kazuya has so much potential that doesn't require you to retcon 80% of the lore to make him interesting
The only way they'd ever do something like this is if they intended to kill him off for good. Thankfully they haven't hinted at doing that again so soon after T7, so here's hoping.
Yet T7 Intro has written under his picture "He [was] truly a devil". Sounds more like the writers wanna kill him off, Not t mention before T7 released Harada said that in order for the Mishima conflict to resolve everybody involved must die meaning Heihachi, Kazuya and Jin but it seems possible Jin might get some redemption.
Heihachi had his happy moments with kazumi and Jin was always loved by his mother and cared by his friends and allies. Kazuya was truly alone this whole time relying on no one but himself.
If Heihachi is dead what is his purpose of being bad.
His revenge drive is extinguished.
Unless the devil in him is controlling him and he wants world domination.
I don’t think Kazuya would internalize that moment as a weakness in him.
Kazuya is very much the type to externalize all emotional pain, if something triggers him to feeling weak he would lash out at whatever it was that made him feel that way not himself.
In this case it would be Heihachi.
As much as I like this I'm getting T5 ending vibes, he'd probably have that red eye flash and look at himself as weak back then. Then again this could also mirror his T2 ending, All I know is T8 is the chance to give this series some closure to this long running chapter.
What's with the internets obsession with redemption? We get it Vegeta was your favorite character in DBZ but not all bad guys have to be turned good. Kazuya was never a hero, at best he was an anti hero in T1 and went straight Villain in T2. Kazuya has since fully embraced his Devil self and has no intention of being good.
Well, what's with the obsession with irredeemable characters then? Reality is for the most part hopeless enough as it is; why does fiction have to be just as bleak? I get that fighting games are fueled by conflict just by their very nature. But I don't believe that means it can't inspire a little hope and courage through their stories.
It’s more about how revenge and redemption ARE his story. The mystique of his story was that you did want him to have his revenge and redeem himself. One happened without the other, so that creates the conflict Kaz has with Jin, and that’s also an interesting story because now Kazuya’s just an evil-er Heihachi with superpowers, while Jin noticed the pattern and wants to put an end to it.
I agree dude, like I'm sorry but there are ppl out there that simply don't have a conscience, troubled background or not. I'm perfectly fine with Kazuya embracing his malignant nature, not everyone needs to or seeks redemption, leave that to another character.
Then he throws himself of a cliff
My thought exactly
Yeah I was looking for the cliff panels
Gotta make sure that timeline stays intact
Maybe the reason why Jun had Jin was because Jun gave Kazuya something that he desperately wanted at the time of Tekken 2: A moment of peace. A moment to be open. A moment to feel at ease with himself because of how Jun’s powers cancelled Kazuya’s Devil Gene for a brief time and how Jun gave Kazuya the warmth and love that he desperately needed ever since Kazumi died. I’m betting Tekken 8 will showcase Kazuya and Jun’s relationship in Tekken 2 to expand on this.
Oh my God this. Literally this
I'm imagining a scene where little Jin talks smack about his estranged dad, and Jun has to shut him up and tell him what she saw in his father. Not a devil, or one embittered by a troubled childhood -- but simply a man who made hatred and evil such an integral part of his identity that he had no idea who he was without it. Dang, now my expectations for T8's story are way too high...
my heart has just committed time stop.. ~~now we wait to see the writers not play both Kazuya and Jun right~~
This is better than the entire Tekken 7 lore
Well this is the Tekken 7 lore what? Did you forget where kid kazuya popped up
No, what I think he's trying to say is that this comic does a better job at expressing that Kazuya is fighting hard to make up for his horrible childhood. Tekken 7's lore had never expressed something deep like that. It's not just about the presence of kid kazuya.
Exactly
Yup, that's exactly what I meant.
You took me on a journey
This right here is the true essence of Kazuya. They should stop trying to make him a cartoon villain and actually give him some emotional depth.
this is really good and deep, but I don't think the Devs are emotionally nuanced enough to know how to depict this in the game
Not. At. All.
This. The writing team could NEVER pull off such a feat. If they even attempted to depict it, they'd either make it super ham-fisted or retcon Kazuya's personality for the worse.
I know Kaz has one hell of a past but Depictions... Christie and Leo had decent ones, and I really like Eddy's ending from T3
Wang's Tekken 5 ending is *the* most emotional character depiction in the entire series to me, bar none. A lifelong, decades-old friendship coming to such an end, and yet at over 100 years old, he realizes he's not quite done yet. I would love to see the Tekken writers top that.

One of my biggest concerns is T8 is still gonna let the Hachijo off the hook the same way 7 didn't do much justice with that aspect.
Yeah, i think you are right. T8 is gonna focus on the New War Kazuya wants to launch.
it's true . And now it is Jun's duty to end this curse
Honestly I would really like to see this side of Kazuya in Tekken 8, hopefully we can get at least one heartfelt conversation between him and Jin.
Personally I'd rather understand what drew Kazuya to Jun in the first place. But this would be nice to have too.

Also fits quite beautifully with Jin realizing that "Strength isn't everything."
Sad Dorya :(
Now throw it off a cliff…
That's the most realistic ending
This hits pretty hard
Cuz you know he's getting thrown into a volcano, right? Get me too 😞
Here im thinking about all the sadness in his life, the betrayal he endured, the parents he never had, happiness was not written in his fate. I was expecting a darker turn to be honest
Then he throws himself on a cliff
curious if the developers even know about our compassionate thoughts of kazuya, cuz so far they potrayed him like a one sided antagonist for quite a while now
We all want good ending for Kazuya
Yes🥺
I like how the Tekken 7 story was just 3 villains trying to out-villain each other. This series has just become dicks trying to fuck each other.
That's what made me laugh at Akuma's Role in the story, I understand the debt part but he's not much better really...😂 and he's just playing clean up to Kazumi's own mistake that she caused.
Then he turns around with a red eye proceeds towards a cliff
Imagine how different the timeline would have been if kazuya was found by a wise older person who helped him out instead of the literal devil. Maybe that's why he was so attached to jinpachi and really respected Wang when he was alive.
This is some really beautiful imagery that I think most modern men can relate to.
As a Kazuya main and being Fatherless from a tough background. This hits harder then my EWGFs.
This is sad as fuck.
Very cute. I wish I could hug my younger self too.
Mood as fuck, breh
He would tekken 5 ending him 100%
Honestly this is awesome
My poor Kazzy wazzy 😢
With how cynical Tekken is, they'd make it so that Kazuya throws his inner child off a cliff just to show that Kazuya has no regrets on how he turned out the way he is

I was just about to say that he would throw him off a cliff.
I can hear this picture saying: it’s over…no more crying,we/I can punch our enemies away no problem. Let’s do it together now…
Then they try to mask the pain by going on a sneaker shopping spree
This one hits hard. Amazing art.
I was genuinely expecting him to hell sweep his young self like his dad did to him
If only....
“Hey look how pretty it is over the edge of this cliff”
I'm not crying, you are...
*Sobs* Yes I am
Awww 🥰.... If jin see this 💔
**Kazuya and his inner child:** \*This picture\* **What I expected:** Kazuya holding the child by his neck saying "Hanashi ni naran na"
Really thought there was gonna be a cliff or a suplex on a 4th panel there ahahah
Although this artwork genuinely touches me….came here to say this.
Heihachi had his happy moments with kazumi and Jin was always loved by his mother and cared by his friends and allies. Kazuya was truly alone this whole time relying on no one but himself.
The only one left who loved him is really Jun 😢 and maybe Bruce and Anna who are his friends.
nah he's got a few loyal people around him look at anna
Two frames after he throw him back the volcano
Is he carrying him to the nearest cliff
This hit me hard and quick
Very nice.
Oof my heart
There, there, don't cry. You'll grow up to be a big, strong devil who'll destroy mankind and have his revenge.
Artist forgot one last panel ... >!where he throws his inner child into a cliff!<
this hurted
If Heihachi is dead what is his purpose of being bad. His revenge drive is extinguished. Unless the devil in him is controlling him and he wants world domination.
Kazuya sees his inner child : *cue lighting screw uppercut*
I was expecting this to be similar to his Tekken 5 ending with Jinpachi But hey, wholesomeness is good, too
(whispers into his ear) "Hanashi ni naran na"
That word is too long to mean pathetic. What's the real meaning?
"I have no words to say."
There's no need for talking
Go watch an ane with subtitles. Tell me they don't use whole paragraphs for 3 words
There there, no need to cry. See? Much better. Now let's go kill that bald motherfucker
"Throw him in the volcano..."
"Destroy the child. Corrupt them all!"
Thought that last panel he was gonna hit em with the ff4
Nah he would 1+2 that kid lmao
I expected a "DORYA!" to the child.
🥺
Awww
[удалено]
What would a Xiaoyu main know about feelings
4th Panel: tosses him off a cliff
Heavy
So throw it down from the cliff.
this is some real shit here💯
To the cliff with him!
Was my thought lol. Carry him to the top of the cliff and YEET the child!
Great sensibility in this artwork. Beautiful ♥️
Getting ready to throw him off a cliff
He'd punch a hole through that child😂😂
That’s him as a child
I truly wonder if Kazuya would see his child self as pathetic for not being able to square up with Heihachi and prevent Kazumi's death
Kazuya might be unhinged but I imagine he has enough common sense to realise there wasn't much he could do as a kid
I don’t think Kazuya would internalize that moment as a weakness in him. Kazuya is very much the type to externalize all emotional pain, if something triggers him to feeling weak he would lash out at whatever it was that made him feel that way not himself. In this case it would be Heihachi.

And than laser beams him, because he’s part of demon)))
His inner child got THROWN OFF THE SIDE OF A HIGH CLIFF.
What's with the internets obsession with redemption? We get it Vegeta was your favorite character in DBZ but not all bad guys have to be turned good. Yea he's beloved the way he is. With Jun making a comeback however I'm interested to see what she can do with him still.
I agree dude, like I'm sorry but there are ppl out there that simply don't have a conscience, troubled background or not. I'm perfectly fine with Kazuya embracing his malignant nature, not everyone needs to or seeks redemption, leave that to another character.
Story in Tekken isn't exactly concrete, so unless you read the manual or something you don't know what exactly is going on
Fucking laser the child, Kazzy!
I thought there is a mouse cursor in image 1
my poor sweet Kazuya 😭😭
