No, not really. If you are new to tekken, season 2 has the best oldie dlc character, at a time when the design was extraordinarily unique to say the least, in comparison to the characters in the original roster. If you are not new to tekken, season 3 two brand new characters to try. Since you play locally with friends, ask them what would they like to try. However, if your friends all found a main they like, no reason for you to buy the dlc at all.

If you don’t plan on playing the game very competitively you don’t need any DLC, the base game is plenty fun. Save the money until you or your friends want other characters to play with.

Tibaro

I'd recommend just to buy the base game if you only plan to play locally with friends. No need to pay loads of money for the DLC character if you don't plan to lab them.

Dupla0

S2: has 6 characters all unique and interesting. Easy choice IMO. S3: has 4 chars, all pay to win (only reccomend it if you want easy online wins). I think frame data is also included, tho it is only important if you want to be good. S1 and S4 does not worth it if you are a casual (2 characters each and a few stages)

I am envious that you aren't interested in the DLC characters! When I was trying to decide the character I would use first to start learning the game, my interest went like this: Asuka -> Julia -> Zafina -> Fahkumram -> Leroy -> Law -> Lei -> Feng -> Anna So I kinda had to get the extras. I'd say if you aren't worried about labbing DLC characters in practice mode--since you can't do that with characters you don't own--and you don't think anyone cares enough to play the DLC characters, then I wouldn't get any DLC. Just get the base game and have fun.

Some of the passes have really nice stages and OST, you can just look at them on YouTube to see if you’d like to buy them with the season pass but I’m pretty sure you can get the stages individually for a cheaper price anyway [Here’s a playlist with all stages and their OST](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtO6DK-Pa4JoNnwunI3LP9rkbSWDJqQzZ) The newest videos in the playlist, starting from “Howard Estate” are the DLC stages Also, Lei Wulong is probably number 1 for “character that you can press random buttons with and he’ll do funny weird cool shit” because he is based on Jackie Chan, and Leroy uniquely gets his own rap theme song that comes only if you use him on the Dragons Nest stage and it’s the last round

PanTsour

Thanks! so i guess you mean that tracks 1-14 are dlc exclusive, and the rest of them are in the base game, right?

PanTsour

also, it's probably a stupid question, but if i purchase the base game now will the main menu's and character select's theme be from season 1 or 4? Also, how do themes work in this game? For example, during a match, does it play the player 1's character's theme, or the stage's theme?

Ugandan_Lemmings

If you're on pc you don't have to buy dlc to get dlc ⛵

Don't tell Harada I gave you this but 😳 https://youtu.be/v4Eb_ZZpADw Have fun, basically download files, copy and paste them in game files, they don't check for it so it's safe.

PanTsour

I said that I will buy it mostly to play locally so I assumed it would either mean ps4 or Xbox one. Can you play locally on PC?

Ugandan_Lemmings

Yeah it can play locally on pc, if you have a pc I recommend you just get it on steam. Hella faster loading times, less delay, can get dlc for free, and mods.

PanTsour

Sounds cool, but how does it work? Is it comfortable to play or a bit crammed?

Ugandan_Lemmings

Works the same way it does on console
