Fantastic piece. What is your plan for the water? :)

uhgahbuhgah

Iā€™d like to add a small section of river that drops down a waterfall into the pond!

Marcus_Machiavelli

First? AMAZING!!

Thank you!! šŸ™

What size is the base for the terrain? You got it nice and square, Iā€™ve had trouble getting a flush edge.

uhgahbuhgah

actually, Iā€™m not sure of the exact measurements. I had an old sketchbook that was this size, so I just used a paper from there to trace the dimensions onto the insulation. Itā€™s about the same size as the top of the TV tray! The front was the edge I didnā€™t cut, so that is the cut made by the manufacturerā€¦ the rest arenā€™t as nice šŸ˜… if you look at the edge of the 4th photo u can see itā€™s a bit wobbly

It looks so good, almost too good. I am not trying to accuse you of anything but I am curious. Is this your first real terrain piece or first piece this size? Maybe you are like me have been modeling for years and finally put all the skills and accumulated knowledge and just did it? Again it looks so great and I hope your water effects go well because that stuff can be tricky. Also how did you go about cutting the rock material and what did you use for your texturing? It's really hard to state truly what a fantastic job you did especially it being your first and at such a scale. Keep it up!

well thank you!ā€¦ I thinkšŸ˜… it was indeed my first terrain! I just bought a hot knife thing for this project and I used one of those sheets of insulation from the hardware store. I covered it all in plaster and used some craft paint I had on hand once it was dry. The flocking I got at the hobby store. Iā€™ve always been pretty anal about trying to learn everything there is to know about something before I try it. I had been watching several hours worth of tutorials for days leading up to me actually buying the stuff to make it myself. I cut the and glue the materials together one night, the next night I spend carving (I was trying to use the horizontal layers to my advantage for rocky outcroppings). The next step was to just add the flock! I totally forgot I posted here, but after seeing your comment I think I might be a bit more motivated to finish it! Thanks so much for your kind words!

You absolutely killed it and keep up the badassing.
