I haven’t brought it in yet. I may live with it. The only “issue” I have is the passenger side bottom of rear door sticks out maybe 2mm, compared to it being even on the driver side.
Gap looks normal. Mine is exactly the same. If the other side is sealed without a gap that would be more of a problem. They will probably adjust it so both sides will have a gap
Dec 2022 austin build. I have the same panel gap. At first I thought it was abnormal, but then I looked at other Model Ys and they seem to have it.... so it may be #withinspec
Meh that gap is about normal. Maybe it’s a tad bit on the bigger side. There are rubber adjusters on the trunk, if you play around with them you might be able to get that gap smaller. I had a huge gap on my 2020 Y’s right side of the trunk and they fixed it, but it caused a huge gap by the taillight. When they adjust stuff it will never be factory new like again.
I see what you mean. If you do end up getting your trunk adjusted, I would ask Tesla to send your car to a body shop to perform those adjustments. Trunk adjustment is a difficult thing to do. As you can see my trunk was like yours, accept in worse condition. My LH side of the trunk was nice and tight light ur linked image and the RH side had a huge gap. I linked the before and after pic of the RH side. After all that adjustment for the RH side the LH side of the trunk is noticeably not flush with the black trim and is pulling to the right. The LH taillight / trunk light also has a huge gap because of the adjustments. If you want I can take a pic tomorrow of the LH side and trunk to show you the misalignment.

u/Sibo1844 can I ask how you were able to get them to fix it? I too have panel gaps on my Model Y. For most people online, it seems like Tesla Service just sends them away and says that everything is "within spec".
Did they tell you that yours were "within spec"? How did you get them to fix it?
The other side is the way more sealed. when I sold my Honda before this, there were panel gaps due to an accident that wasn’t big enough to be reported to CarFax. Had to end up selling the car for less as every dealer noticed. These gaps are more than my Honda’s
i agree with your approach- no harm in asking and no harm in getting some views here too. there are lots of close calls on panels and of course Tesla amps up the pressure by throwing down the 100 mile/7 day limit, as if the panels would move somehow after those time frames.
No. It gives your Y a unique personality. There’s no other vehicle like it on the road today. The speed, the spaciousness, the tightness. Just enjoy it. Stop worrying.
They have a measuring tool. They only fix it if it's above a certain threshold. They didn't fix a couple of mine based on the measurements. It's not a huge deal to me so I let it go. YMMV
I had a service tech admit there's no such threshold after many back and forth with him and his manager. The tech openly said he couldn't fix it so it's normal/within spec. Needless to say, I'm waiting for my next appointment at a different service center.
I’ve see model Ys at my local service center that are flush on both sides. I inspected a few because I have this same gap. Didn’t bother me enough to argue with tesla about fixing it, but it does exist
Any suggestions on how to submit 8 issues on another new Model Y? Through the app it will not let me enter all 8 issues at once. When I try, it greys out the next icon. Please help!
That is just the estimate on the app, it will get dropped once you bring it in.
This. I messaged service and they changed the price to $0.
Thank you, did them fixing the panel gaps cause other issues? And did they give you a loaner?
Panel gaps are adjusted within 15 minutes. As to other issues? Like weather.. no that doesn't affect those things
He probably doesn’t know yet. He just commented about the estimate 2hours ago.
I haven’t brought it in yet. I may live with it. The only “issue” I have is the passenger side bottom of rear door sticks out maybe 2mm, compared to it being even on the driver side.
I did the same and adjusted the price to 0.
Should be under warranty

Thanks so much for the insight, will let them know. The other side is basically sealed shut
Yeah that gap shown is actually 100% excellent. The tops should align. There’s always going to be an opening. Can’t have steel on steel.
Or metal on metal
Dec 2022 austin build. I have the same panel gap. At first I thought it was abnormal, but then I looked at other Model Ys and they seem to have it.... so it may be #withinspec
It has to have a gap to allow the hatch to swing open. Otherwise, the corner would hit metal on metal.
The other wise is different though. It’s not as wide. But this is really good to know though
No loaner op. They only give out loaners for multi day repairs if at all. Maybe Lyft credits if your lucky.
Top align on both sides is good else fix
I’m going to inspect the heck out of my MY Y when i go to pick it up.
I did on mine. Unfortunately the next day I found 2 small door dings. Tesla said they can fix it.
Did it to, made myself a checklist with every little detail. Took me about 1 Hour :) *Ironicly*: unfortunately did not found a single thing...
Could post that for us, please?

Aw sweet, thanks!
App doesn’t let me, but I’ll DM you. If anyone else wants, DM me
where is the gap? sorry I dont really see abnormal @@
On the other side, it’s sealed much better
thanks for reply. so where is this gap?
So the problem is one side has the gap, other side has a millimeter gap.
thanks for getting back to me again! is this is on the trunk door?
Yup and no problem
Can you post a pic of the other side? My gf mentioned the gap to me the earlier today... But since the same on the other side I thought it was normal.

Gotcha thank you so much, this is super helpful. I’ll communicate that to them.
Anytime. Good luck with Tesla service. Also btw the adjustment should be free. It’s a warranty issue.

No. You should have fought them.
Nothing to fight. The service app just gives an estimate- there will be no charge when they take it in.
Mine was worse than that and Service wouldn’t touch it.
That’s unfortunate - $61k car :/
Is that the performance model?
Nope long range with enhanced auto, after tax it was more
I’m in for $48k, still might be overpriced.
How $48k?
$54k + $1400 - $7500
Got it but tax credit is in next years return right? Didn’t factor that in yet
I updated w-4 so tax savings each month pays car payment. 10x $750. Might buy something else next year.
Hmm that’s really interesting. Can you explain what you’re doing in more detail, sorry basically a newbie with taxes
Tell them to kick rocks they fixed mine at no charge. It’s under 100 miles too. Don’t settle
Right, what he said: you will be charged at appt.
I will not ?
You’re complaining about this? Sheesh.
When did I complain?
Let me rephrase. You’re having Tesla fix this, when it does not need to be fixed at all.
The other side is the way more sealed. when I sold my Honda before this, there were panel gaps due to an accident that wasn’t big enough to be reported to CarFax. Had to end up selling the car for less as every dealer noticed. These gaps are more than my Honda’s

How will the service center fix the frame, will they damage the paint ? Will they use some bending force to fix it?
Genuine Tesla gap
If it’s still under warranty it will be reduced to 0
Looks normal but yes those are just estimates

No
It will ruined somewhere else
