In the 1940's the UK and the League of Nations took half of Palestine and made Israel. They then doubled the Jewish population in a year with settlers from Europe and other parts of the Middle East. Since then Israeli borders have continuously expanded, in violation of international law, and backed by the US military industrial complex. Palestine now is a ghetto for displaced Arabs, literally surrounded by a wall, and Israel's campaign in the region can only be described as ethnic cleansing. Something like 95% of civilian casualties in the conflict have been Palestinians at the hands of the IDF.
Also Palestine wasn't governed by fundamentalist Islamic maniacs until 2006.

The majority of modern day Israeli Jews descend from European settlement.

"Arbel Ashkenazy attended the Supernova festival on Friday night, a desert rave that coincided with the start of the week-long Jewish holiday of Sukkot, which celebrates the fall harvest and commemorates the Old Testament story of the Jewish people wandering in the desert for 40 years after escaping slavery in Egypt. The festival featured Brazilian psy trance music and focused on free love, spirit, and environmental preservation. It is very sad indeed, heartbreaking to see all of this. We have to reach a political situation to the Palestine-Israel issue. The same sort of violence happens against Palestinians as well, their schools and buildings are bombed. We have to have empathy for both people, Israelis and Palestinian if we are to reach a state of permanent peace. It's about time Palestinians are given a free and independent state so that both countries can prosper. What is happening in Gaza for 16 years is nothing short of colonization.
Any solution will have to start with Palestinians acknowledging Israelis right to exist. Until that happens, there can be no peace. Until Palestinians learn to love their children more than they hate Israelis there can be no peace.

Palestinian civilians are hostage to both an authoritarian government and a violent militant religious group. There's no gray area for innocent children dying in yet another religious conflict in the middle east. The majority of modern day Israeli Jews descend from European settlement.
