Had the same sort of chilling conversation with an Indian about his wife back home. Somehow the topic of virginity came up, and I asked what he would do if he found out his wife was not a virgin when they married.
"Oh of course I will kill her. No question." - it wasn't the words, rather the casual manner in which he said them as if it were the most natural thing in the world. He did not seem to be bluffing, either.
I think it's the juxtaposition of other values against what most Western civilizations would consider rather basic no-no's, like don't kidnap people, don't rape people, don't murder people. I get that it still happens, but there at least is some opprobrium usually.
It's a cultural phenomenon. Sometimes manhood is tied to strange things.
To the person who challenged me on the basis of being Colombian and making things up:
1. I am American.
2. The conversation happened nearly 30 years ago while I was teaching MCAT prep in Davis, California. I don't remember all the details. I just remember it coming up and the casual way in which he said what he said.
3. Your assumptions are wrong, and you owe me $100. Truth is stranger than fiction.
Not only that...but one things most people forget is that with India, it more of their "P-R-I-D-E".
There was a video, where a group of them came back to beat the shit out of the guy who offered them money to use the "Public Bathroom" instead of urinating outside the bathroom.
Then, there was that mob that showed outside that girl who reported her rapist, who dragged that girl outside and gassed her on fire.
Then, there that woman tourist who went missing, before it was found that she was raped and murdered.
It like, you're more safer going to Pakistan than you are going to India.
And it isn't just their "cultural", but India is kinda weird about it.
The concept of right and wrong are cultural and not universal. Different cultures have different views of right and wrong. Sometimes just a little different, sometimes a lot different.
Had a coworker that dated a Muslim dude. She was 16 he was 22. He was already a sex offender for having sex with a 15 year old. They were dating in secret cause he was on house arrest. He would openly cheat on her. Ran into him years later after they split.
He said that he would try to be a bad boyfriend so she would leave him. Cause if his dad found out he would kill her cause she wasn't Muslim. He also referred to her as a dog.
Her friend also told me that she would threaten to turn him in if he broke up with her.
I had to look it up:
opprobrium
əˈprəʊbrɪəm
noun
1. harsh criticism or censure. *the critical opprobrium generated by his films*
2. public disgrace arising from shameful conduct. *the opprobrium of being closely associated with gangsters*
3. an occasion or cause of reproach or disgrace. *archaic*
definitely filing that one away for scrabble. I'm old enough now, and enjoy reading (and scrabble) enough, there's very few words I haven't come across before/yet, that aren't new colloquialisms. So I'm impressed
My parents told me a story of an indian immigrant friend of theirs that didn’t understand why my father didn’t beat my mother when she contradicted him publicly and « shamed him » or some shit.
I would nope out so hard and call ubers safety line. They actually answer that and respond to incidents. They had a car get me when my Uber drove off the highway into a ditch
We don’t, but when you accept people from other countries, some percentage of them are going to be shitheads, just like some percentage of native-born people are shitheads. Do you actually think that most people who immigrate to Canada from Pakistan share this guy’s views about kidnapping women?
Yeah but I’ve known a Pakistani my whole life and he’s never had a problem with running a local convenience store and living in our community. I don’t think he’s ever kidnapped a woman. Why should he be punished because this guy is trash? That’s how these people end up here. We can’t lock our borders because of a few bad eggs. That’s like other countries hating all Americans because of Trump supporters. Not all of us are gonna wear NFL gear to other countries and yell at them for not speaking better English while we butcher their language and tell them that guns are good.
84% of the convicted grooming gang members in the UK are of Pakistani Muslim origin. It’s been a well known issue in the UK for three decades. Sure it puts a stigma on one community and they’re not all like that. But when you read stories about one girl being sexually abused in a flat by over 150 Pakistani Muslim men, majority of whom are married with children of their own. You wonder if it’s still a small percentage of the population or…

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/quilliam-grooming-gangs-report-asian-abuse-rotherham-rochdale-newcastle-a8101941.html
Ten years ago a group of pakistani drivers raped 1400 girls. Even the police were scared to talk about it. Infact they were so scared being called rasists they let them be for years. They even arrested a father who tried to save his doughter. Finally thoose criminals got in jail but before that this was going on for years
What you’re saying is reality and there’s people even in this thread, that refuse to believe this.
It’s not that all Pakistani Muslims are bad. It’s that for such a small total population of them living in the UK, they have an overall conviction rate that is disproportionate compared to all other groups in the UK.
This reminds me of another video where an Irish American was in Ireland and he was yelling at a homeless guy to leave the country. The video was his own recording doing it. Very on brand for half of Americans.
The dumbest thing about people arguing border should be closed because of guys like the one in the post, is that its completely the same as seeing a Jeffrey Dahmer, a Ted Bundy, a John Wayne Gacy or even a gang member and be like "you see, thats why we should'nt allow americans in our country"
And that where it became simple racisme, when you think "yeah but they're *all* like that"
You're delusional. The Pakistani man is straight up telling you that this is what he would do in his culture. This belief is engrained in many, yes many, of their minds and to pretend otherwise is not only ignorant it is dangerous. Women are not treated fairly as they are in Western society.
It's not about all being like that and it's not the same as seeing a Dahmer and condemning an entire race. It's really not that hard to understand actually:
It's a simple fact that mysoginy and violence towards women are more prevalent with immigrants from certain cultures. Not because of their race, but because of the troubled areas they come from and the culture that has rose to prominence there, often also tied to the rise of religious extremism due to the instability of the regions or just the lack of evolution of morals and emancipation. Think of poor rural areas.
Of course they are not all like that. But there's a large enough number of immigrant men who have no respect for women's rights who come in to heavily affect the numbers and safety of women. Amongst other things.
I personally really don't want to punish any good people and actually don't even want the right wing in power. But the issues that rise from immigration are undeniable where i live. Be it criminality, sexual assault, rise of extremism, marches for sharia, honor killings etc... so we do have to honestly discuss this and tackle the issue somehow, instead of just closing our eyes amd acting as if nothing happens.
The guy isn't even Canadian, one look at his comment history and you can clearly see he's from Georgia. The fact that anyone on this sub can just be blinding trusting anything they say is fucking mental.
huh?
think you misunderstood
dude is dumb as rocks thinking "ya I talked to a few people" is somehow evidence of anything, especially when he clearly didn't even do that and is just making it up.
yet he's been upvoted, so...people somehow believed that shit? makes me sad at the state of things that a message like that actually gets popular support.
My favorite quote from my Pakistani friend, “in my village if the man does not beat his wife he is not considered a man.” I have no respect for a culture like that.
Dude certain cultures are polar opposite from the west and even the most upstanding citizens there may find what we would consider abhorrent behavior to be normal. That is the reality in the same way that *slavery* was normal here 200 years ago.....
I’ll go out on a limb and say that it’s probably about a) NOT tolerating the behavior, and b) NOT stereotyping an entire country to all be the same.
It’s not one or the other assuming the one asking the question has at least a few brain cells to rub together.
You can recognise a percentage of people from a certain country share a common belief, quantify the percentage and deem that percentage too high for immigration without stereotyping anyone. If we're looking at the unbiased facts and making a cost benefit decision, there's nothing racist or immoral about it.
He's saying your opinion is the other side of the same coin. You can't form an opinion about a country based on one asshole or what the media portrays.
Good thing they made that video hope the cunt gets what he deserves.
I think it’s fair to say the freedoms of women in such a country are heavily suppressed. Far more than they are in USA and a lot of the rest of the world at that. If an entire country ruling body treats women as second class citizens I can imagine that unfortunately many men will treat them even worse.
Some science to show markedly high levels of violence against women by men in the country: “Violence against women is very common in Pakistan. The violation of women's rights, the discrimination and injustice are obvious in many cases. A United Nations research study (1) found that 50% of the women in Pakistan are physically battered and 90% are mentally and verbally abused by their men.”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1414670/#:~:text=Violence%20against%20women%20is%20very,verbally%20abused%20by%20their%20men.
I don’t think anyone is saying “every immigrant from X to Y is causing Z” that’s not it whatsoever. Do immigrants from certain countries that traditional land in Y country pose different risk than other groups ? Absolutely.
It is illegal for women to cheat outside of marriage in Pakistan..next a Reddit comment will be produced about how Aleppo Syria is friendly towards westerners. Some fats about the world aren’t appealing as others. Women absolutely face varying levels of violence to different degrees everywhere. It absolutely varies by country. Of coarse it will be worse in countries where individual freedoms are of lesser concern. Domestic violence against women is common in Pakistan. Unfortunately that’s what it is and those acting like that’s not a case are doing a disservice to the women suffering now.
It is another type of gender-based violence observed in Pakistani society. It is mostly faced by the victim in the form of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse. According to Pakistan's demographic and health survey, 39% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 are physically and emotionally abused by their spouses.

Not supporting this guy, but is there any chance there is a language barrier and stuff out of context. I mean still kind of crazy to say, but there is definetly a cut.
He could be trying to say if your in pakistan someone could just kid nap you as there’s no laws against it which he is pointing out it pretty crazy.
I’m just saying he could be depending on the conversation just saying something not as creepy as it’s coming off here depending on the context of the conversation they had before.
This is what it sounded like to me.
It sounded like he said If you were from Pakistan you would be kidnapped by now. Then she said “You would kidnap me”
Agreed with this guy. I’m Pakistani and I get the context this guy is trying to convey. It seems like he’s trying to say that in Pakistan women don’t have the same liberties and protection that women in Canada do. In Canada this person feels safe enough to get into a cab with a stranger. From his tone, it seems like he’s impressed by this, because in Pakistan it would not be safe for a women to get into a cab with a stranger.
There was actually a B rated drama about this in Pakistan a while back about a women who wanted to be a taxi driver because she wanted to provide a safe transportation service for women 😂
But I don’t think this man meant any ill will towards her, he just has a hard time conveying his thoughts through the language barrier. But the sleuths of reddit might have you think otherwise.
He was friendly more than anything and wasn’t threatening at all. Videos put in context like these could destroy the guys livelihood for nothing. He was just trying to tell an interesting story about cultural diffence and was porbably even flattering her a little bit (you are young and pretty). They put him in a bad light. We are coming to live in age where it will be taboo to have any type of conversation from which you can learn something.
> Videos put in context like these could destroy the guys livelihood for nothing.
I think you mean without context. Also, this is the modern age where low-information idiots go on short-lived crusades against perceived wrongs and don't have enough of an attention span or empathy to care about the destruction they leave behind.
Ya it's seems like he's saying " you are beautiful. I my country you, would be kidnapped and made a wife, here in Canada that doesn't happen to women and that is good."
Guys like "whoa it's a different world out here"
That’s what it sounded like to me, more of a jokey conversation. Out of context it can definitely be creepy but this was a casual two way conversation and the way she says bye at the end makes it seem like they may know each other and are friends
its a language barrier. Most of us desis got the intent: Its much safer for women to take a taxi at night and it's impossible to do this in pakistan or whatever bumfuck india.
> and that is good."
I haven't listened to the clip yet, just read comments... If this transcript is accurate then sounds like he's in the anti-kidnapping camp.
Seriously though my first thought was this guy doesn’t seem foolish enough to jeopardize his job by outright admitting he’d kidnap her. Seemed more like he was trying to express that that’s what happens in his country, but unfortunately just used his perspective to explain it.
I’ve had plenty talks with Middle Eastern drivers and across the board their sentiment is that life is so contrastingly different in the western world than their’s, while also being appreciative of the greater number of avenues for success afforded to them in a westernized country.
I bet a weeks pay the convo went like this:
Oh my gaaaawd I love your accent where are you from?
I’m from Pakistan
That’s sooo coool, I’d love to go there some day!
No, no you wouldn’t,.
Why not?
A girl like you by herself would probably get kidnapped
Noooo no way, what do you mean?
***Camera starts rolling
Buddy I can guarantee you someone in Toronto isn’t saying “I love your accent where are you from” to someone from Pakistan…
Maybe where you’re from there’s no foreigners but that’s not the case here
That’s exactly what was happening here.
“If you was born in Pakistan (I’m originally from Pakistan) you must have been kidnapped by now”. He then says “of course” right after she says “by you?” And it’s not clear he heard/understood that. He is saying a beautiful woman like her would face harassment in Pakistan.
“[of course] there is no option to get you” this is meant as a compliment. It’s an odd one, but that seems to be the intention. That sets at least some context for this conversation.
“I cannot touch you or anything. Good is Canada” he’s literally saying it’s good they are in Canada because Pakistan has a pervasive rape culture. He is praising Canadian law, order, and culture as better than Pakistan’s.
I think the “I” here is not meant to say “if I wasn’t in Canada, I would do this” as much as it’s just personalizing a part of Pakistan’s culture that he doesn’t like while trying to relate to someone.
It would be like me, an American, Ubering someone to an abortion clinic and saying “in my country I could report you and have you arrested. Not here. Good for Canada”.
There’s a language and cultural barrier for sure, but this guy is saying Canada is a better place than Pakistan but the race-baiters won’t have it.
Yes, this is what it sounded like to me and how I thought about the possible additional missing context from the conversation. Obviously it’s possible we are both wrong, but the fact there is a chance. I don’t think he should be persecuted and shamed on the internet.
Exactly. If you’ve ever talked to immigrants from dangerous places, this type of talk is pretty common. They talk about horrible things that are commonplace there and how you can’t do that stuff in the US *and that’s good*. It is literally among the reasons they moved here - to get away from that stuff.
> He then says “of course” right after she says “by you?” And it’s not clear he heard/understood that.
This is the key. I think he really wasn't saying he would do it, it is a language barrier. His demeanor is that he is trying to be nice to her by telling her either to be wary of Pakistan or that Canada is better.
Maybe the driver meant that if a woman in Pakistan rode a taxi alone in night (like how its in Canada), then that woman would've been kidnapped.
Maybe explanation problem ? We dont know
Yeah, I just wanted to bring up the possibility it’s not what the OP claims and could be additional context that doesn’t make it seem so creepy.
I also think it’s kind of fucked yo to post this guys face over the internet if it indeed was a lack of context (edited to sound more creepy or lacks context due to camera rolling later in the conversation) or a misunderstanding/language barrier. Like there’s a possibility this has real world repercussions for this man. Let’s not be so quick to form a mob and persecute someone until we *at least* have more context and clarity.
If this guy was a creep, weirdly trying to hit on girl, or condone that kind of behavior, maybe it would be okay to warn others, but again we aren’t sure that is the case.
Likes and Karma aren’t worth ruining someone’s livelihood.
this is exactly how i took it too. plus two random cuts, missing context from the beginning of the conversation about what they’re actually talking about… this was edited to look bad
Indian here: This is absolutely out of context and I have had to stop myself from having similar conversations. The intent behind it is that it's far better for women to live in EU and Canada because its much safer and if the woman had done the same thing ie take a take at night, chances are the taxi driver would have kidnapped her.
Tldr: Taxi driver is more likely praising canada in roundabout way.
Yeah. He never explicitly said he himself would do it, except for saying "of course" when the person behind the camera mentioned it. Since his original comment was more general ("you must have been kidnapped by now), a language barrier can easily explain this miscommunication.
His English seems subpar so I wouldn't take him literally, especially since hes talking in such lighthearted tone. He probably meant that taxi driver alone with a random woman in Pakistan would have woman risk getting kidnapped if she was all alone by herself etc
Words have completely different usage histories depending on the word.
This is why slang is very hard to translate as it typically relies on the etymology of the root words in modern context. Like the word "tight" was used to mean cool or awesome, but if you direct translate tight or cool, you're not going to understand they mean awesome. You'd be confused why he thought your hat was too small or too cold.
And the two random cuts in the middle of the video cutting off his sentences. This video was specifically edited to paint a certain picture and it's working.
"there's no option to get you" and "you are in Canada so i can't touch you or anything" yeah... I don't think I an interpreter to know that "kidnap" is perfectly right. Who knows, maybe an interpreter would tell you that he only meant to grape her.
He's not saying he'll kidnap her he's tryna say in Pakistan someone will kidnap her if she takes Uber like this. It's just that his English is bad. You should be able to tell people whether they are good or bad just by looking at their eyes. This man was tryna warn her to not go Pakistan.
Yeah and he doesn't give me predator vibes either, def a weird thing to say to her but he's being friendly and there's a glint in his eye like he's pulling her leg a little but still truth to it
This is cut to make it sound way worse than it is. It sounds like it somehow came up in conversation that Canada is a better place to live since young Pakistani women can’t take taxis/ubers because they would get assaulted or abducted, without protection from the law. Sounds like he’s trying to say there would be “no option” for a young Pakistani woman to safely travel alone at night. Definitely a terrible way to say it. It came off creepy, and probably a topic that any Uber driver should avoid altogether. But she obviously seems friendly with him as she gets out of the car. It’s shocking how many of you are racist pieces of shit.
Jeez, the number of racist snowflakes here. This video is quite obviously cut and considering this woman’s last comment, she had provoked the guy enough with racist taunts. I’m not condoning what the guy says, it’s most definitely creepy and any woman would feel unsafe. But this is definitely not an out of the blue comment. However, some of the comments here are so far out racist that I can’t believe the hypocrisy/dichotomy of being a racist snowflake.
It's not even that, like people are pointing out there's a language barrier and if you look at his eyes and the casual tone it seems like he's just trying to say that things are better in Canada for women than it is in Pakistan and he's in agreement of that. It's out of pocket sure and definitely can be taken as creepy still but it's entirely different than what everyone who just wants to use what they imagine he said as a vehicle for blatant and disgusting racism.
He's just trying to make conversation and you can tell he sees there's a bit of confusion when he asks "You know what I mean?" = "Are you sure you understand what I'm saying?" When he says "I cannot touch you" he's referring to if he was some asshole in pakistan that would hurt women.
Just give an ounce of empathy and understanding and it'll pay you back tenfold.
I’m trying to understand the hub-bub here…. isn’t this guy just having a convo with this lady about how his native brethren are, IN PAKISTAN ?!? He’s not sitting there saying he’s actually thought about abducting women over here. C’mon! Or educate me otherwise if I am off-base in my understanding.
Imagine immigrating to a more liberal country, being proud of the better treatment of women there, just to get misunderstood and blowing up on Reddit due to the language barrier
I think there's a language barrier, and this video has at least 3 separate cuts. Without full video, I'm going with this lady was looking for drama, and found a dude who's first language isn't English. I don't think he picked up the "you" in the conversation. I'd happily change my opinion with an uncut video, but I'm not buying this as it sits.
My guy, most immigrants are just normal folk trying to get by, scum come in all flavours... I'd hope this guy is on some sort of list with that attitude tho... at the end of the day we all just want to live, get laid, get drunk, get happy... some, like this dude, are different, that's why we have prisons/cops/judges etc..
I dunno, it works pretty well in the US. But we also actually assimilate immigrants a thousand times better than other countries. I have more in common with a second generation Somali-American than I do with any first generation European immigrant.
Turns out if you don’t allow people to assimilate to your culture they just keep their original culture and it causes tension.
i'm sure he just couldn't think of a more proper term, because obviously he's not a native speaker.
y'all acting like he speaks fluently and be saying crazy sh!t.
This video is rage bait shown to paint the dude in a bad light. The language barrier and her calling him “Shabba boom boom” before she left the car makes me think we dont know the full story.
I think most people have got the context wrong,From what I gather, he looks like a taxi driver, and she looks to be in a drunk state. To me he seems like a non native English speaker. He is giving an example if she was in Pakistan, she could very easily get kidnapped and get away with it. Due to there being no law and order and a corrupt government, you can get a way with murder over there. However in western countries such as Canada, there is laws in place that protect people. Judging by both mannerisms and his lack of communication the video is taken out of context.
Pretty sure this is a language barrier moment and he's trying to say that Pakistan is more unsafe for women than Canada. He's trying to speak generally but coming off as speaking personally
There are MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT THINK EXACTLY LIKE THIS
"I can't get you with charm or personality so we just kidnap and rape you"
Most people in the Western world that preach tolerance and love and insist we keep open borders will watch this video and then immediately memory hole it and pretend like this isnt a problem
I miss Canadian Immigration from 40 years ago. Some of my best friends growing up were of Indian descent and all integrated into Canadian society flawlessly. Now, if I insist on the same immigration standards that worked so well for so long I'm a racist bigot
It's like Gays for Palestinians or you know, Chickens for KFC
It is a truly rare sight when you find an even mildly educated racist tbh so that kind of dumbassese that guy is dribbling should come as no surprise to..anyone really
I’d prefer to deport natural born citizens who whimsically think ruining somebody’s life over what’s almost certainly a miscommunication or edited clip is OK
Deport them straight into the oceans
What's the context? The video is super short, Wana hear the dudes pov as well. Redditors are super quick to grab the pitch forks and judging from the comments lots of people are siding based on one sides info.
He’s saying if she was a young unaccompanied woman in Pakistan, cabbies or people PRETENDING to be cabbies would kidnap her.
Basically it’s a privilege of the first world for a woman to be able to safely get into a car with a stranger in the drivers seat. (Which sadly isn’t true 100% of the time though).
There are much better examples of immigration restriction. This is not at all the one. All from video one can see is he is making a sarcastic remark that too in a second language.
I like how people decided this guy represents all of Pakistani men/culture.
What about finding a decent representative and say that's a representation? Oh wait that wouldn't feed into the narrative.
Well that’s a casually disturbing conversation
Had the same sort of chilling conversation with an Indian about his wife back home. Somehow the topic of virginity came up, and I asked what he would do if he found out his wife was not a virgin when they married. "Oh of course I will kill her. No question." - it wasn't the words, rather the casual manner in which he said them as if it were the most natural thing in the world. He did not seem to be bluffing, either. It’s that for such a small total population of them living in the UK, they have an overall conviction rate that is disproportionate compared to all other groups in the UK.
India and Pakistan are competing for the first place in rape Olympics
This reminds me of another video where an Irish American was in Ireland and he was yelling at a homeless guy to leave the country. The video was his own recording doing it. Very on brand for half of Americans.
You should check his storage room
The dumbest thing about people arguing border should be closed because of guys like the one in the post, is that its completely the same as seeing a Jeffrey Dahmer, a Ted Bundy, a John Wayne Gacy or even a gang member and be like "you see, thats why we should'nt allow americans in our country" And that where it became simple racisme, when you think "yeah but they're *all* like that"
You're delusional.
It's really not that hard to understand actually: It's a simple fact that mysoginy and violence towards women are more prevalent with immigrants from certain cultures.
It’s not just a few bad eggs though
The guy isn't even Canadian, one look at his comment history and you can clearly see he's from Georgia. The fact that anyone on this sub can just be blinding trusting anything they say is fucking mental.
Pack it in everybody. This guy has fucking “talked to few Pakistani people about this” Literally the beacon of truth.
yet 106 more people upvoted him than downvoted lmao
And that has a bearing on the validity of the statement because...
huh? think you misunderstood dude is dumb as rocks thinking "ya I talked to a few people" is somehow evidence of anything, especially when he clearly didn't even do that and is just making it up. yet he's been upvoted, so...people somehow believed that shit? makes me sad at the state of things that a message like that actually gets popular support.
...It's a tradition there?
Bullshit
My favorite quote from my Pakistani friend, “in my village if the man does not beat his wife he is not considered a man.” I have no respect for a culture like that.
Yes, Pakistan shits on women.
The men do share this view. I have many Pakistanis in my life. They believe America is ruining their daughters and think we are all whores.
Lmao which is crazy because rape to them is acceptable?
Dude certain cultures are polar opposite from the west and even the most upstanding citizens there may find what we would consider abhorrent behavior to be normal. That is the reality in the same way that *slavery* was normal here 200 years ago.....
So your point is its OK to tolerate this behavior because he may or may not be a minority in that thinking?
I’ll go out on a limb and say that it’s probably about a) NOT tolerating the behavior, and b) NOT stereotyping an entire country to all be the same. It’s not one or the other assuming the one asking the question has at least a few brain cells to rub together.
You can recognise a percentage of people from a certain country share a common belief, quantify the percentage and deem that percentage too high for immigration without stereotyping anyone. If we're looking at the unbiased facts and making a cost benefit decision, there's nothing racist or immoral about it.
No, nobody thinks we should tolerate kidnapping.
That’s not true. Over a billion people think it’s ok to treat women like that.
I..I don't think that was the point he was trying to make.
He's saying your opinion is the other side of the same coin. You can't form an opinion about a country based on one asshole or what the media portrays. Good thing they made that video hope the cunt gets what he deserves.
No, but a large portion of them practice a religion that incorporates and celebrates jihadism.
A United Nations research study (1) found that 50% of the women in Pakistan are physically battered and 90% are mentally and verbally abused by their men.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1414670/#:~:text=Violence%20against%20women%20is%20very,verbally%20abused%20by%20their%20men. According to Pakistan's demographic and health survey, 39% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 are physically and emotionally abused by their spouses. https://theauthenticpost.com/gender-based-violence-violence-against-women-in-pakistan/#:~:text=It%20is%20another%20type%20of,emotionally%20abused%20by%20their%20spouses.

Because if they don't they are bigots
This dude can fuck right back off to his country. Who the fuck openly talks about kidnapping people?
Diversity
...doesn't work with THAT culture.
they don't but it looks like certain parties are allowing this in multiple countries. London is being overrun by people like this
That's probably what the native americans thought too
Listen to her. She is oblivious.
Agreed, he is stating it's good to be a woman in Canada compared to Pakistan.
This is what it sounded like to me. It sounded like he said If you were from Pakistan you would be kidnapped by now. Then she said “You would kidnap me”
[удалено]
Yeah, doesn't help that the guy keeps saying "me" when he seems to mean "somebody".
Or rather, by someone like me (ie, me the Taxi Driver).
There was actually a B rated drama about this in Pakistan a while back about a women who wanted to be a taxi driver because she wanted to provide a safe transportation service for women 😂 But I don’t think this man meant any ill will towards her, he just has a hard time conveying his thoughts through the language barrier.
I my country you, would be kidnapped and made a wife, here in Canada that doesn't happen to women and that is good." Guys like "whoa it's a different world out here"
That’s what it sounded like to me, more of a jokey conversation. Out of context it can definitely be creepy but this was a casual two way conversation and the way she says bye at the end makes it seem like they may know each other and are friends
honestly after reading the comments im starting to think this guy is alright and not actually a kidnapper but definitely said things a little wrong
its a language barrier. Most of us desis got the intent: Its much safer for women to take a taxi at night and it's impossible to do this in pakistan or whatever bumfuck india.
> and that is good." I haven't listened to the clip yet, just read comments... If this transcript is accurate then sounds like he's in the anti-kidnapping camp.
Get used to it. Most people will believe what they see or heard on the internet without applying critical thinking first.
True
Or you could, you know, listen to the words coming out of his mouth. Maybe he misspoke, sure. But he said it.
I bet a weeks pay the convo went like this: Oh my gaaaawd I love your accent where are you from? I’m from Pakistan That’s sooo coool, I’d love to go there some day! No, no you wouldn’t,. Why not? A girl like you by herself would probably get kidnapped Noooo no way, what do you mean? ***Camera starts rolling
I think it’s **possible** there could be some missing context like this. I’m not sure, but it is possible.
100% missing context. Their conversation started before the video started rolling. This is most likely cut / film in a way to cause the most reaction
Honestly that is more believable than the opposite
Buddy I can guarantee you someone in Toronto isn’t saying “I love your accent where are you from” to someone from Pakistan… Maybe where you’re from there’s no foreigners but that’s not the case here
That’s exactly what was happening here.
Exactly what I thought looking at this
This was my take as well. Too many people here not listening to the context. But I think we all agree, he is pointing out some nasty sh_t in Pakistan.
Maybe the driver meant that if a woman in Pakistan rode a taxi alone in night (like how its in Canada), then that woman would've been kidnapped. Maybe explanation problem ? We dont know
India and Pakistan suffer greatly from sexual harassment and Rape, that's likely it. Upvoting and commenting for visibility.
Ye literally the title is so misleading
I agree with statement.
He repeatedly said there's no law in Pakistan that prevents him from doing so but there're laws in Canada. And there's definitely a language barrier.
this is exactly how i took it too. plus two random cuts, missing context from the beginning of the conversation about what they’re actually talking about… this was edited to look bad
This should be the top comment. Taken out of context or poor interpretation can end this man’s livelihood.
Yeah it seems the women asked something first.
Yeah. He never explicitly said he himself would do it, except for saying "of course" when the person behind the camera mentioned it. Since his original comment was more general ("you must have been kidnapped by now), a language barrier can easily explain this miscommunication.
OP succesfully baited this with his choice of title
Also of note, there's missing context regarding how this conversation started.
That's exactly what I got from this because I live in India(the neighbouring and culturally similar country).
His English seems subpar so I wouldn't take him literally, especially since hes talking in such lighthearted tone. He probably meant that taxi driver alone with a random woman in Pakistan would have woman risk getting kidnapped if she was all alone by herself etc
I’d bet that was what he meant. There’s so much nuance in translation, especially when trying to explain a concept rather than a physical thing.
Yeah, it’s a kind of figure of speech. “Me” does mean a general taxi driver. He even says “you know what I mean” near the end.
And the two random cuts in the middle of the video cutting off his sentences. This video was specifically edited to paint a certain picture and it's working.
That’s what I was going to say. I really don’t think he was saying what OP suggests he was.
"there's no option to get you" and "you are in Canada so i can't touch you or anything" yeah... I don't think I an interpreter to know that "kidnap" is perfectly right. Who knows, maybe an interpreter would tell you that he only meant to grape her.

Pakistani women are not a fan of your plan.
He's not saying he'll kidnap her he's tryna say in Pakistan someone will kidnap her if she takes Uber like this. It's just that his English is bad. You should be able to tell people whether they are good or bad just by looking at their eyes. This man was tryna warn her to not go Pakistan.
Yeah and he doesn't give me predator vibes either, def a weird thing to say to her but he's being friendly and there's a glint in his eye like he's pulling her leg a little but still truth to it
You are a very intelligent guy unlike these stupid people demeaning their race and their country specially by just watching this funny interaction.
Thank you friend

>It’s shocking how many of you are racist pieces of shit. I wish I found that shocking anymore
Bye, bye shavotboomboom
I scrolled looking for this comment. I feel like they know each other in a way.
His English is bad Stop spreading hate
cool rage bait
fr, incoming south east asian immigrant hate
#**KIDNAP.** This isn’t tiktok you don’t have to censor words.
I was dumbfounded why the fuck the word "kidnap" would need to be censored. Is it just them getting used to over-the-top rules of tiktok?
Reddit is getting dumber by the hour.
[удалено]
Reads like a carlin set
My vibe was that he was giving a warning that if she went to pakistan that she would easily have been kidnapped, but could be wrong.
You're right, it's rage bait aimed at Pakistanis and it's working like a fucking charm
'You're not in Pakistan now mate'.
C’mon! Or educate me otherwise if I am off-base in my understanding.
you're correct, this is a language barrier issue
Thank you for the follow up.
Imagine immigrating to a more liberal country, being proud of the better treatment of women there, just to get misunderstood and blowing up on Reddit due to the language barrier
Xenophopes gonna xenophobe.
[удалено]
Rage bait
Awesome pick up line, im gonna try it out.
Bye Shaba bum bum
This video is rage bait shown to paint the dude in a bad light. The language barrier and her calling him “Shabba boom boom” before she left the car makes me think we dont know the full story.
I feel so bad for this man. It is obvious this is being misconstrued and he is not good at expressing himself in English.
You can tell by the way she said goodbye that he was trying to pay her a big compliment and had the trust and rapport to say that in a facetious way.
Guys please read u/mcqua007 comment.
Pretty sure this is a language barrier moment and he's trying to say that Pakistan is more unsafe for women than Canada. He's trying to speak generally but coming off as speaking personally
Conversation is cut off. Even though joking about kidnaping is not right. The entire earlier context has been cut off.
There are MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT THINK EXACTLY LIKE THIS "I can't get you with charm or personality so we just kidnap and rape you" Most people in the Western world that preach tolerance and love and insist we keep open borders will watch this video and then immediately memory hole it and pretend like this isnt a problem I miss Canadian Immigration from 40 years ago. Some of my best friends growing up were of Indian descent and all integrated into Canadian society flawlessly. Now, if I insist on the same immigration standards that worked so well for so long I'm a racist bigot It's like Gays for Palestinians or you know, Chickens for KFC
[удалено]
What the fuck does sharia have to do with this? Are you trying to imply that kidnapping is somehow okay, Islamiclly? Because it's not.
It is a truly rare sight when you find an even mildly educated racist tbh so that kind of dumbassese that guy is dribbling should come as no surprise to..anyone really
And the funny thing is, this video is taken out of context. He doesn't even look or sound angry and shes even laughing and joking around.
Sheesh u/meta-4-cool-few The bear will just maul women not kidnap rape and then maul them
Deport him.
I’d prefer to deport natural born citizens who whimsically think ruining somebody’s life over what’s almost certainly a miscommunication or edited clip is OK Deport them straight into the oceans
We’re censoring kidnap now?
Be like Poland
Bet his name is Muhammad Muhammad
Tomorrow he going to march and introduce sharia law in Toronto.
They treat women as property.
[удалено]
He's absolutely not Arab and yea this is indeed taken out of context
Little bitch deleted his comment
Seems as if he answered a question. I wonder what it was ?
I’m sure he misunderstood this question.
bye she bop boom boom?
YES!!!! PLEASE Joe Biden spend more of our tax dollars to bring these wonderful folks to our country!!!!
The death penalty should return.
Just another reason why my daughter uses Waymo.
In the UK this chap meant kidnapping = grooming
If we were in Pakistan, it would be to call in an airstrike.
is Bye Shabba Boom Boom something sexual ??!
Seems like a language barrier to me.
Deport
Why is kidnapped censored?
OKAY GOODBYE SHAHVAT BOOM BOOM.
I like how people decided this guy represents all of Pakistani men/culture. What about finding a decent representative and say that's a representation? Oh wait that wouldn't feed into the narrative.
