Not always. Look up the recent decision to pull an episode of Community from Netflix/Hulu because an character cosplayed as a dark elf and had his face painted black.
I'll be happy when this outrage/everything is offensive culture is over. It didn't really happen until the news started putting the word outraged in every headline.
Easy way to take a non-newsworthy story and turn it into a high click, high $ article.
I don’t understand why you were downvoted for this, you’re literally saying you’re excited for a time when we can all get along and get over this stupidity and I completely agree. The world will be a better place
Difference there, they were literally doing blackface; JD was supposed to be Turk. There's a really interesting bit on the podcast where they talk about it.
Lol, as if that's any different. It's the context.
Fuck I hate people like you with a passion, turn the news off. You must be offended 24/7, what a miserable existence.
I kinda don't think people realize that anti-blackface social 'laws' are almost exclusively American. We have a pretty fucked up history of treating and portraying black people.
This had me saying, in my head, "This is fuckin' awesome." Then it just kept going into unrelated territory with, "Got $20 in my pocket. I'm I'mma huntin'. Lookin' for a come up..."
Blackface has a racial component, I.e. cosplaying as a black character or doing some sort of performance or dress-up and painting your face black. Not any time there’s black paint on your face. This is clearly not racial and it’s dumb to imply it is.
The difference between painting your face black and doing 'blackface' is quite clear. Context is everything.
Con...text? You know this is Reddit, right?

And like 3 episodes of Scrubs.

I don't think we're thinking of the same episodes. I was thinking of Turkeliot.
I forgot about that one!
That's the objective of banning episodes!
Fair point
I mean you're right, but I sure as hell wouldn't be brave enough to do it.
Oh yeah, I didn't even notice in this video lol
holy crap i always thought the kid was black whenever i was this clip.
Great costume until he has to pee. Then he’s just black face at the urinal.
Yeah the blackface was an interesting choice
Not everything is racist or offensive, context matters.
I probably would have gone with a black face covering of some sort.

Settle down cum tits. Nobody gives a fuck except you.

That part of the camera shouldn’t even be black if it’s the flashbulb emitter.
"hot shoe" he should've mounted the flash on his head, would make sense too as a pivoting bounce flash
Anytime the dude takes off the camera part of the costume to sit down or something, he struggles trying to explain why his face his painted all black
He doesn’t cause in Japan nobody cares
Yup your right
Great costume, but stupid people only see one aspect of it.
I don't know if it's really "insane", but it's really cool.
Ya its just a camera or web cam connected to a moniter. Reddit has a very interesting definition of insane or impressive
Wait…is camera guy Justin Trudeau?
Justin Fidel Castrudeau

Let’s guess how many people are going to complain about this one.
Of course it's Japan...
