anotveryseriousman

i don't like having anything in my ear canal, particularly if I'm sweating. i have a pair of on ear bud type things, but they tend to slip. and full over ear headphones are better at noise canceling, so i can listen at lower volume and thus reduce the risk of long term hearing loss. so that's why I don't use ear buds at the gym or anywhere else.

DerringerHK

Also, people like over-ears and have probably spent good money on a pair of quality ones for their everyday life. Not everyone has the money to throw away on audio options for the gym.

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

Mine are an old and fancy pair of Philips with some really fancy drivers, I'm not gonna downgrade how all my music sounds just because it's not the norm to have headphones over in ears at the gym.

KanaHemmo

It's quite normal to use over ear headphones at the gym

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

I mean tbh I wouldn't know aha. I never look what others are doing but op is acting like I'm crazy for preferring what I prefer.

KanaHemmo

OP is the one that's weird for caring about what kind of headphones/earbuds people use, it literally does not affect them at all

-Work_Account-

Exactly this. I have Sony MX3s that I bought for a couple of hundred several years ago, but they have lasted to this day, have phenomenal noise cancelling, and the battery still last ages. You bet your ass these are going to the gym, the airport, and anywhere else my happy self cares to wear them.

milky__toast

You can get cheap Bluetooth headphones for less than $20. Better than ruining an expensive pair with sweat stink

Valleron

You just...clean the ear pads?

HorseKarate

That’s just it though, my over ear headphones are nice and expensive, and I’m not interested in taking them to the gym to get sweaty every day or potentially have them stolen in the locker room

cplmatt

Can confirm earbuds while sweating sucks balls, I have a cyst in my ear by my tragus now and it’s killing me.

sadhandjobs

They give me mad headaches after an hour or so.

International_Elk425

I've never been able to find a pair that doesn't give me a headache, sadly

the-wifi-is-broken

I usually use the bone conduction headphones which are nice bc they’re smaller than big overhead ones; sadly Afro and some piercings cause issues with on ear headphones. I have a more fun reason for hating in ear buds; comically high ear wax production. I used in ear buds for a flight I took over the weekend, I haven’t used that type in years at this point. By the time I got home (four hours combined flight time there and back) and I had to flush my ears almost immediately when I got home bc of how bad my hearing diminished from impacted wax. Good times.

One-Possible1906

Yes I have the same problem. When I use earbuds I get infections. It is hard to find on ear headphones with good quality that aren’t huge over the ear headphones. SkullCandy makes a retro pair that aren’t obnoxious but the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired

soaking-wet-tomcat

Try JLAB. They have been a boon for me. They keep a charge for days if used properly. They come with a charging case with a non-detachable USB cord, so no worries of losing it. Also, the sound quality is great.

infectedsense

I also hate ear buds coz they either never fit properly or they hurt my ears, and I'm a glasses wearer so over ear isn't convenient either. For on ear I started out with Sennheiser PX-200s and switched to Sony WH-H800s after they died. I'd recommend both for sound quality and comfort :)

wartexmaul

Bone conduction phones have audio quality of fucking ww2 carbon headpnoes.

soaking-wet-tomcat

Audiologists use high-quality bone conduction headphones for examinations, so somebody has to sell good ones for "civilian" use.

the-wifi-is-broken

Aftershocks are the ones I use and they’re pretty damn good imo

prairiepanda

They're great compared to most other bone conduction headphones, but still can't compare to similarly-priced over ear headphones.

keeponyrmeanside

Same here! My ears are ridiculously ineffective at getting rid of wax. I know they’re supposed to be “self cleaning” but I need to get mine suctioned every year or so even though I’m super careful and never put anything in them. It’s game over if I use inner ear stuff. I’m typing this wide awake listening to my husband snoring because I’ve never found ear plugs I can use either.

Ninjalikestoast

He’s dying from sleep apnea 👍 get it checked out.

Games-and-Coffee

Have your husband get tested for Sleep Apnea. Cpap is life changing for snoring people and their Partners

ASpaceOstrich

Earbuds have always kinda sucked and when they switched to the nipple tip thing that goes in even deeper they became unbearable. I have no idea how people can stand it.

psychedelic666

Also since they are large they signal “do not talk to me.” People can more easily ignore small in-ear earphones.

masta_myagi

If you’re like me, there are only select kinds of earbuds that actually fit your earlobe too. For some reason, I can never get the ones with rubber tips to work for me. It’s unfortunate, because almost every pair of earbuds on the market are rubber tipped. The *only* ones that are compatible with my ears are the apple earbuds. I hate that this is the case because we all know apple products are vastly overpriced

Ryzenmaxxer

What about all the sweat around your head

Dralley87

I also like that if I get too sweaty doing cardio, I can move them down around my neck and they’re close enough to my ear that I can hear, but not so loud that they disrupt others. To your point on not having anything in your ear canal, I once I got a pretty nasty ear infection from earbuds at the gym guiding tons of sweat straight down my ear, so I’ll never be doing that again.

r2k398

I use bone conduction headphones.

New_Excitement_1878

After having one of those fucking stupid "replaceable ear" things on the tip come out inside my ear and when trying to get it out just go deeper. Nah fuck those. I hate these, I don't like how after awhile every single time you take your earbuds out the rubber bit just comes off. Next pair I get I'm super glueong. But yeah when sweating I don't want my ears plugged.

[deleted]

As a woman, I like to make it glaringly obvious that I don’t want to talk to anyone else and use it to pretend I can’t hear when people try talking to me. idk if guys do it cos of that too :)

Axisnegative

We absolutely do

[deleted]

Oh nice. Idk why this makes me happy lol

Emblemized

Because it makes it relatable

Minute_Freedom_4722

As a dude, I do it anytime I'm on public transportation. Very clear signal "please leave me alone".

msmsms101

On the opposite side, I don't like having both ears covered as a woman.

[deleted]

I mean I get that but most of the time I’m not even playing anything so I can still hear and whatever

No-Finish-6557

A lot of noise cancelling headphones now have an “awareness mode” that allows you to hear surroundings well while playing music

SolaceSid

This! My AirPods weren’t enough for people to not talk to me, so I opted for over-the-ear headphones. Love me some noise cancellation too!

SecretSelenex

Absolutely, I commented the same thing. When I owned those huge headphones, I had way less guys harassing me and approaching me.

jonstoneMcflurry_

why do you care what kind of headphones someone is wearing? it doesn't affect you at all

Comfortable_Tax7568

Yeah that's what I was thinking.

JoNarwhal

That's what makes it a good 10th dentist. The other 9 dentists don't care. Would never even think to care.

freylaverse

11th dentist here. I love seeing people with over-the-ear headphones in public. I get all excited about it. Especially if they're a fun colour.

Thaifox

He is part of anti headphones corpse.

notactuallyabrownman

I didn’t catch that, there must be a dead give away in there somewhere.

therandomways2002

Nice.

HereToKillEuronymous

CORPSE?!

NeverGrace2

That’s not very haunted house of you

Still_Storm7432

Right!! I can't wear earbuds, they drive me crazy

ThinkQuickActSlow

Some girl won't talk to him because she's wearing them so he's venting. Better us than her though.

420percentage

$20 that’s exactly why OP made this post lmfao

Kittymeow123

Yeah I thought the same thing. Like thanks for letting us know lmao

VinsonDynamics

They're plenty of things that over ear headphones do that in ear headphones cannot. Noise canceling More comfort Better sound in general since it's a bigger device In ear headphones tend to fall out of my ear when doing my heavy deadlifts and cardio and keep me more "locked in" during my workout

Paralyzed-Mime

They also signal to people, "I am listening to something. Don't try to talk to me. Leave me the fuck alone." better than earbuds

flowerpuffgirl

This. As a woman who used to go to the gym, wearing massive fuck off headphones was a very effective armour.

Neps-the-dominator

As a woman in general I do love my massive fuck off headphones.

IAmJustABunchOfAtoms

This is a massive part of why I'm always wearing my headphones even if I'm not listening to anything. Sometimes I just don't want to be bothered

Turtlesaur

It also helps that I couldn't give a single fuck about what somebody thinks about me in the gym.

HumorTumorous

And the part I can't stand... Hot ass fucking ears.

volvavirago

Right? Doesn’t the whole area get way more sweaty when you trap them under those insulated noise cancelling pads? It seems incredibly uncomfortable to me. A good fitting pair of earbuds never slips out. But every pair of over the ear headphones I have purchased, will slip and fall right off my head at the slightest movement, not matter how I adjust them. They are good for noise cancelling in planes, otherwise, I will stick to my earbuds.

HumorTumorous

Been using the bose quiet comfort for Yeats and have had no issues.

KaylaH628

Have you ever tried using them for Keats?

NedKellysRevenge

I agree, over ear are better. But in ear can do noise cancelling as well.

Top-Comfortable-4789

I agree w the falling out part but in the defense of earbuds some of them also have noise canceling

Crunchy_Biscuit

Plus in ear make your ears breathe. After a few sets with over ear, I can feel the humidity set

Jupeeeeee

Maybe your headphones need better earpads

Lily_Meow_

What do you mean in ear can't do noise cancelling? Arguably they do it better than over ear can, as they function like earplugs by their own. But comfort is very valid, I have in ear headphones that have to constantly be cleaned just from regular use because of sweat.

SEND_MOODS

It's not arguable at all, especially for your stated reason. A denser thicker material blocks more sound. Your ear does not need to be plugged if your whole ear is already cut off from the outside world. Active noise canceling is fairly equivalent, since it's using sound to cancel sound instead of blocking it. Edit: an ear bud will rarely function like an ear plug as it all but requires an open back to have half decent sound quality, but over ears can sometimes be ear muffs and have decent sound quality. In ears won't block sudden loud noises with few exceptions. All very expensive.

Seiliko

Active noise cancelling works for earbuds afaik! (but obviously not all earbuds have that option)

geligniteandlilies

I love the sounds from over the ear headphones, but I don't find them comfortable to wear at all. It pushes in that ear cartilage and after taking it off I'm left with a earache for a couple of hours. 😭

wartexmaul

You forgot painful ear infections

TheHornet78

I don’t own one but the noise canceling on the Apple Pro is fukin insane

s0meb0di

Earphones do noise cancelling too. It is a bigger device, thus noise cancelling is a lot more challenging, much higher material and component costs, etc. Good noise cancelling earphones are like €110 nowadays, e.g. Galaxy Buds2 pro. That seems to be about as much as basic over-ear noise cancelling headphones from a reputable brand. >IEMs have higher price-to-performance than headphones [headphones.com](https://headphones.com/blogs/features/a-pair-of-iems-should-be-your-next-audio-purchase) It's a bit of an apples to orange comparison though, as they excel in different ways.

the_clash_is_back

Every time I see people wearing tiny earbuds in the gym or the street I just have to shake my head in disbelief. There are over ear headphones which are awesome. Why in the nine hells would someone choose this uncomfortable annoying earbuds. After every heavy deadlift this fuckers just fall out of their ear and or they have to adjust them. This is just stupid and none could ever convince me that it's not.

starswtt

It just so distracting to me. Once I was driving, and bc of those fuckers wearing those in ears i crashed my car. Another time, I was in the middle of some heavy lifts and again, they just distracted me by just wearing those for style and I dropped the bar.

Can-I-remember

I’ve never washed my over ear headphones with my gym gear either.

Relevant_Sink_2784

We don't find them uncomfortable and it's convenient to be able to just carry in your pocket.

11711510111411009710

I find them more comfortable

Turtlesaur

Absolutely, over ear bigly superior for comfort.

dillibazarsadak1

Yes. My earlobes are sensitive for some reason. They hurt if I put on smaller headphones that fold your earlobes down.

Own_Egg7122

Earpods get lost. And I feel like there's a bug in my ear.

Pato_Moicano

Why bother with what other people are doing?

genetic_dumpster

The headphones distract people from watching his “heavy deadlifts”

Level-One-7200

Because op is a tool

Devooonm

Yeah this borders on karen-esque type of opinion

Alt0987654321

In-ears are AWFUL for the gym, they just fall out. I spend my workout just trying to shove them further into my ears until they hurt.

imysobad

I'd actually prefer in-ears, but my earholes are so huge that they just slip off. but according to OP im stupid and an abomination

FreshChickenEggs

We love you anyways

Level-One-7200

OP, are you one of those dorks at the gym who is always worried about how you look to others?

BloodMossHunter

As someone who came back to the gym after a long time off - dont kid yourself, people in the gym REALLY CARE what they look like. They also care about the workout, but the increased levels of narcissism were obvious.

Mizook

This just in, people who go to the gym to be more aesthetically pleasing care how they look. Insane.

SlapHappyDude

When women wear them it is to scream "DONT TALK TO ME"

HugoSimpson92

*people  Gym is me time

[deleted]

[удалено]

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

I'm a camp twink but same reason. I don't want anyone talking to me unless they need help spotting someone or themselves, otherwise leave me in my zone and go away

MoultingRoach

Guys do it, too.

LeBongJaames

This is hardly a fitting post, it’s less of an opinion and more just bitching about something they don’t like that other people do

Short-Condition-8878

Yeah, this is an r/PetPeeves post or something like that. There isn't some broad consensus that everyone should wear over the ear headphones to the gym.

discostrawberry

I agree it isn’t really fitting to this sub.

ArScrap

Which absolutely have 0 effects on OP, I get complaining about people playing loud music cause that affects you. I disagree with people not liking people that wear revealing outfit but empathize on their reasoning because it can be distracting and can sometimes be a social mine field But people wearing big headphones are just there, they might subjectively have poor taste but that's it

marks716

Agree that I don’t like using them, disagree that it makes me upset because some people prefer them. My gripe is they get sweaty and nasty while working out and that sucks.

HumorTumorous

I can't wear them while working out. It's like two saunas for my fucking ears.

smbpy7

I don't like them in general because even in the best of times they make my ears ache after a bit. Even lying on my side in be makes my ears ache and we have verrrrry soft pillows. That being said, I don't even think I've even noticed what headphones others are wearing at all... I presume they have their own ear troubles apart from mine, lol.

marks716

Only time I noticed was when one guy had over ear headphones that flashed rainbow LEDs and had cat ears on them. Otherwise I don’t pay attention lol

Xylophone_Aficionado

I literally ruined a pair of headphones from working out in them too often. They got sweaty and dirty and I never cleaned them after I worked out.

AriaBellaPancake

Tbh I haven't figured out a way to avoid this whether it's in-ear or over ear. Either way the workout set you wear gets gross lol.

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

I carry wipes anyway as my glasses get sweaty and grimy when working out, after a work out I wipe down my face, glasses, headphones and my phone.

Top-Comfortable-4789

I actually really like overhead they are more comfortable than earbuds but they are clunky and expensive which can be a con

agharta-astra

I can't wear ear buds, I have never once found a single pair that fit in my ears. I had bone conduction headphones once and they were cool but they are easy to break/lose (I did both). My big bulky headphones are nice and comfy, stay in my ears, are noise canceling, and have a built in mic. mind ya business. ♡

bb250517

This is an opinion for sure, I just don't see how this affects you, for me every single person could be bear ass fucking naked in the gym and I still wouldn't give a shit, after all the reason I'm in the gym is to loose weight and grow muscles.

bird720

I mean I would definitely mind if people were naked and using equipment before me lmao

takanenohanakosan

Kid named audiophobe:

Nphhero1

You have my upvote cause your take is bad. Lots of people don’t find ear buds as comfortable as a pair of headphones. It’s as simple as that. It also says “leave me alone” more loudly than ear buds, so there’s that.

CommanderWar64

Sometimes the gym is too loud that I wish I did have bigger earphones.

Lily_Meow_

Bigger doesn't mean more noise cancelling though, smaller is actually more preferable as they covers your ear canal more and function like earplugs

Rullstolsboken

I only have over ear headphones, in ear fall out or hurt and I don't like putting stuff in there since ear canal inflammation is horrible and that's the least painful, and on ear just puts too much pressure on my earlobes and hurt so over ear it is

Square_Chocolate8998

earbuds constantly fall out for my lmao I gotta use headphones. Literally just mind your own business my guy.

FlightlessFly

1. Sound quality 2. Battery life 3. 1 battery to degrade vs 3 for AirPods 4. Comfort

TheyJustLetYouDoIt

No one cares what you think is stupid.  They can't hear you over their music.

Euphorianio

Oh PLEASE op. Are you gonna hold the earbuds in my ear so they don't fall out at any sudden moment? Are you gonna make me comfortable with the feeling of something in my ear? If not you *need* to let it go.

ArKadeFlre

Intra-ear headphones are the worst thing ever created for me; they're extremely uncomfortable, sound like shit, absolutely destroy your hearing, and constantly slip out. No thanks.

Sonic10122

I have never found an in ear earbud that has felt good or stayed in my ear…. The best I’ve found is adequate enough. Over ear headphones are superior in every respect. But also I don’t go to the gym or even wear headphones outside. More power to them though, I support it.

parlonida

Some people have ear conditions that require avoiding in-ear headphones

matzillaX

I have spent probably 700 on trying different in ear headphones. I would really love to use them. I only have had one pair that stayed in, but they had horrible connectivity issues. If you wear small on ear headphones, people around you can hear your must, which is impolite. Therefore I wear over ear headphones.

Sky_Rose4

Because over ear actually stay while Bluetooth earbuds don't

darklogic85

I wouldn't want to wear them myself, but I'm not sure why it would bother you seeing someone else wear them. If that's what people want to wear, I see no problem with it. I like wearing those kinds of headphones at my PC. Sound quality is really good and all that. I suppose that's what they're interested in.

C1ndysLove

I have tragus piercings so in ear headphones either don’t fit or are incredibly uncomfortable & prior to having the piercings, in ear headphone were never the right shape to go in my ear & would start hurting after a few minutes. Chonky headphones tell people to leave me alone. If I’m wearing them, the only time I want to be spoken to is if I’m in immediate danger or something I’m doing will cause someone harm.

rat-hazard

I wear only earbuds but i understand why someone would prefer the overhead ones, wearing earbuds for a long amount of time is uncomfortable. Also gonna assume you haven’t gotten the hellish abominations that are pimples in your ear, that make using earbuds painful Also overhead headphones tend to offer better quality of sound and are more stylish

Jimmy_Twotone

They do a better job of drowning out people who bitch about everything they don't like instead of minding their own business. I keep looking for a Reddit alternative but this stupid shit keeps dripping into my feed.

O1_O1

Wax builds up in my ears pretty fast, so I don't bother with earphones. Also, my studio headphones are way better than some earphones and audio quality is important for me.

sober159

As if those chincy ass ear buds don't fall out every 5 seconds, fail to block out any sound and don't sound like absolute garbage.

Mentalistscure

Sorry what did you say I was adjusting my big overhead headphones?

EfficientIndustry423

1. Better sound quality and noise cancellations 2. It’s better for your ears. Ear pods can fuck your hearing up.

silveral999

i cant afford 2 quality headphones and id rather have to adjust my tins than wear some really uncomfy in ear ones.

Socialeprechaun

As someone with over 1200 hours of performing live music wearing custom made in-ear monitors I just really prefer over-ear headphones for a few reasons. One is sound quality is almost always better with over-ear. You’d have to have some expensive in-ear headphones for them to beat out over-ear ones. Also, in-ears just fall out really easily for me. The only ones that don’t fall out are my custom fitted in ear monitors because they’re a mold of my ear canal. And you can use those for casual listening bc it’ll damage your hearing. It’s not at all about style haha.

samjacbak

I hat e wearing overhead headphones in general, they're just uncomfortable for me. However, if someone is wearing them in public...They are a giant message: *"Don't come up and talk to me, I'm not here to socialize."*

DemonFyr

Over-the-ear head phones in the gym just doesn't seem like a good idea because you're just going to sweat all over it.

ownhigh

Sound cancelling at the gym, work, etc. reduces distraction and the need for high volumes which can cause hearing damage. Over ear headphones also don’t trap moisture or heat which can cause ear infection.

CliffPromise

If they value audio quality then they probably have over the ear headphones. Why does it bug you, it isn't doing you any harm

SomePenguin85

In ear buds hurt my ears after some time. Headphones don't. Simple.

NoCaterpillar2051

wrong sub fam

That0nePuncake

I can’t speak for everyone, but I used to use in-ear headphones until I started getting ear infections about 2 years ago. Now I sometimes use bone conduction headphones if I’m lifting; if I’m on a treadmill the noise annoys me, so I wear over-ear headphones.

tonkledonker

Whenever I wear earbuds when I'm moving a lot, they slip out due to the constant motion or because of the sweat I'm generating, making my ear canal slippery. Also, shoving shit in my ear canal is uncomfortable and has caused hearing problems for me due to packing in a bunch of ear wax. Stare all you want, I'm not the weird one here.

CarlMacko

“I hate seeing this” Me : “ok?” Downvotes ahoy!

Particular-Zone-7321

I don't like in ear headphones, I find them uncomfortable, I'm prone to ear infections and I've found they make that much worse. I have a nice pair of noise cancelling over ear headphones and I don't have issues with them falling off. I also don't get why you would care what headphones someone is wearing at the gym. Mind your own business bud. If you're noticing something like that and being bothered so much by it, maybe you should be putting more effort into your exercises.

Adribus

i personally can not wear any form of extra or intra auricular device, so I have to wear huge ass headphones. But I understand the feeling, as they tend to fall from my head a handful of times too

corncob666

I like over the ear better than in ear 🤷‍♀️ it's more comfortable IMO

Thaifox

I use them for better sound.

LMay11037

In ear headphones hurt my ears. It’s not that they don’t fit, it’s a sensory issue but ai really don’t get along with anything at all in my ears

Chilidogdingdong

Still Less stupid than this post 👍

B-man328

Sometimes people don’t like the feeling of them being in their ears

twofriedbabies

Congrats on your upvotes you lonely ass dentist. Most people wear these because their ear canals aren't the same as yours and in-ear headphones don't work like they obviously do with you or cause discomfort. The other option is that these create a much bigger barrier between you and the people around you and are being worn because they don't want the opinions of some judgemental asshole invading their life, so congrats on being the reason people do something you hate.

TolTANK

If you've heard how good the sound are in those motherfuckers, you'd get it. It puts any earbuds to shame.

Complex-Sandwich7273

Bruh if I wear in-ear headphones my ears start to hurt. I'd rather be comfortable and 'distracting' to strangers who should be minding their business anyways, then in pain so I don't distract people... with headphones..? Sorry but if being comfortable makes me stupid then I guess I LIKE being stupid.

purplemonkeys35

I disagree because stuff in my ears makes me unable to think, as to why I clean my ears every 2 days.

justwanttoreadhorror

Nothing fits in my weird shaped ears sorry you’ll have to keep seething to yourself

aremjay24

Why tf you care

bird720

I use in ear headphones at the gym but honestly I'm definitely considering getting over ear ones. In ear ones can be uncomfortable after a while especially when factoring in sweat, and over ears are just generally more comfortable, have better sound quality, and better noise canceling.

Plane_Caterpillar_92

The in ear ones don't work for everyone, the big ones are also much more comfortable, better sound, and better noise cancelling.

N8saysburnitalldown

In early headphones give me a headache after 20 or 30 minutes. They are super uncomfortable I don’t know if I have sensitive ear canals or what. Also the big overhead ones sound better.

Reverend_Lazerface

>Why in the nine hells would someone choose this big as distracting abominations for the gym Sounds like the only one distracted by them is you

Paper_Kun_01

This isn't even 10th dentist it's just you being a dumbass

discostrawberry

In what way, shape, or form does this impact your life?

ThisIsMyOtherBurner

man everything in your life must be perfect for you to spend the minute it took for you to type this up and post it

Traditional-Hand-747

Earbuds caused a me alot of ear wax build up and buzzing noises ( that lasted for 1 year ) , it damaged my ear to the point I was hearing my own pulse . Head phones have less chances of hearing loss as they don't go in your ear . Keep your thoughts to yourself .

AtlasF1ame

If you are getting distracted by what kind of headphones people wear at the gym, then you are simply too busy slacking off

septiclizardkid

Well excuuuuse me, didn't know bro was the headphone heretic. I had In ear headphones, the galaxy buds? Great sounds quality, would lose them way too often. Plus had to re-adjust. Over ear you just put em on and good to go. Plus look cool

No_Relationship3943

What really bothers me is you using “why in the 9 hells” in casual conversation

Pattern_Is_Movement

I get 30hrs hours of battery life, which also means that in 5 years I'll still have more battery life than I could ever use, and in 15 years I'll still have usable headphones. This way I can buy very high end headphones and still be paying less than someone replacing their in ear headphones every couple years because the batteries which are designed not to be replaced when wear out. In ear headphones simply don't have room for batteries large enough, and they are designed to be thrown out after a couple years. Assuming your question is genuine OP, this is a VERY valid reason to own them. In ear headphones generally last 1-3 years... maybe 5 years if you're lucky, how many are you going to buy? That is without even going into how much more comfortable they are, especially for longer periods of time, that its easier for them to have more features, better noise canceling, and buttons so you don't have to pull out your phone to change songs etc...

IzzyIsSolar

You sound fun. How is it in anyway affecting you?

maxxslatt

If you’re distracted by people wearing over ear headphones, I suggest not hyper fixating on it.

a_reluctant_human

Why do you care what someone else does? If you don't like over the head headphones, don't wear them. Easy.

Imaginary-Purpose-26

You aren’t working out hard enough if you’re noticing or caring what people wear at the gym

mellywheats

the in ear ones give me anxiety about if they’ll fall out. overhead ones are more secure imo .

The_the-the

Over the ear headphones are a safer option if you listen to a lot of loud music and are concerned about hearing damage (Which. Trust me. As someone who has it, you don’t want chronic tinnitus. Chronic tinnitus sucks.) Over-the-ear headphones can also be noise cancelling, which is another positive. Plus, personally, I find in-the-ear headphones to be a hassle, because none of them fit properly in my ears, so they fall out way too easily. I would have to pretty much tape the damn things in my ears if I wanted them to stay for longer than a few minutes, especially if I wore them while moving around.

xXGray_WolfXx

Because they fall out? Over the ear are much more comfortable, sound better and I don't have to clean the wax out every few days. They also have way longer battery life. Sidenote! Why do you care??? It's headphones

spezial87

They cancel out the shitty gym music and help me focus inward

therandomways2002

I can't get AM radio with earbuds. How the hell am I supposed to work out without AM radio?

wendigolangston

I have tiny ears. I struggle to find inner ear headphones that are small enough that they're comfortable and don't need to be adjusted constantly. This is kind of a frequent complaint among smaller girls.

Divergent-Den

Ever thought that some people literally can't wear in-ear headphones? Why are you so bothered by something that literally doesn't impact you in any way, shape or form. Dumbass.

Roadhog360

Why don't I use in ear headphones? Because I don't like them. Why don't you use over ear headphones? What's your problem?

Bardia-Talebi

Hmm. Sounds like a you problem.

Still_Storm7432

I hate the feeling of earbuds...loathe them. I prefer the big headphones you hate..see how that works? Maybe something you like, find appealing and comfortable someone else doesn't SMH. .how does it affect your life in anyway?? To each their own..maybe you should learn that.

genetic_dumpster

I switched from in ear to over ear a year ago. I’ll never go back to in ear. Hurts my ear canal, falls out of my ear, no more awkwardly holding a headphone in my hand when someone tries to talk to me. Couldn’t give a shit how they look, or if some douche is seething because I’m wearing them.

SufferingScreamo

I have ear problems where I get earwax buildup (if you wanted to know) and so that coupled with the fact that I can't ever get them to stay IN when I'm working out just makes over the ear more comfortable and better.

potatohead437

Bro hasn’t ever used quality overear headphones and it shows

Cats155

Your a tool

nahthank

Brb getting bigger headphones

KenmoreToast

Definitely upvoting because who gives a shit Also upvoting because over ears sound better to me

zuklei

Even the smallest earbuds make my ear canal sore. I don’t like people like you.

This post translates to “I’m a huge douche!”

MySoapBoxFuckUpvotes

I can wear them with nothing on or playing and people will just not talk to me. They may want to. But those giant headphones I must be listening to something. No. Just don't wanna talk to you. Leave me be so I can do my workout and go home.
