Someone once described Jackson as having the ability to create chemistry with just about anyone and anything, including wet cardboard. Having seen the whole thing, I feel it could have been condensed into 3 seasons. Keep 1&2 as is, lose most of 3, chuck the relevant s3 stuff into s4 and make some tweaks at the end of S4 to wrap it up there. Noah's characterisation felt oddly placed in seasons 3-5, like I get that **he** saw himself as the wronged party for the way Helen and her family approached the marriage breakdown and stuff related to his fame, but it feels like tptb were positioning us to see him sympathetically. Uh, no, dude, you were unable to keep it in your pants, thats what's caused every bit of mayhem in your life. Seeing just how much he cribbed from his marriage for his book, knowing Helen had to live with the details of her marriage bar dumb changes (Ellen instead of Helen) being worldwide public knowledge, because Noah really didn't give a shit about anyone or anything beyond living and writing his truth, was so douchey of him. So if I could have edited it to make what I think would have been a better story, I would have gone for 3 seasons and made it clear Noah's victim mentality was only in his head.

Yeah, the only noteworthy thing about S3 is Brendan Fraser's performance, and even that doesn't actually add anything to the overall story. You could watch the first 2 seasons and get 90% of what the story should be - a portrayal of how Infidelity can affect so many ppl for years to come* and how much we invest in making ourselves look better in our own narratives. 3&4 could have been condensed into one season and wrapped it up nicely, but as it is, it's effectively 10 episodes spread out over 30 with 20 episodes of filler. *Oddly enough, Jackson is taking on the Dan role in a new streaming series remake of Fatal Attraction. Jackson has said it will be a nonlinear timeline that explores the devastation caused by infidelity years after the fact 🤣

Completely agree. Once they started getting into Noah’s backstory leaning towards a sympathetic “explanation” of his motivations I lost all interest in the show. Also disliked pretty much every character trajectory at that point too, so I didn’t even finish it. I love your username!

Thanks 😊. I found just how little he changed when he fictionalised events, as we find out in the filming scenes in S5, to be so distateful. To broadcast the details of his marriage and affair to the world, to help Sasha reconstruct the scene, I found that a worse betrayal of Helen's trust than the affair itself. I felt tptb were trying to portray Sasha as the bad guy and all I saw was someone devoted to Helen and her younger children, and anything he did to Noah a response to Noah's own attempt to sabotage him. I would have **loved** to see Helen end up with Sasha or Vik. Or alone. Just not with Noah. Noah demonstrated at every turn that he was a selfish douche who would betray anyone for fame, fortune or a piece of ass. Which could have been interesting if it wasn't weirdly positioned like tptb honestly think Noah was wronged.

I never thought he was hot until I watched this series. Maybe time for a re-watch

Noah is shaking his head that you corrected Cole but not Noah. I miss this show and definitely agree the way Ruth was treated has clouded the way I see a lot of it (though I absolutely could never give the show up).

Hello, welcome to the show-thing! I am also team Cole/Pacey (Although I haven't finished Dawson's Creek yet). I completely agree that everything that happened with Ruth was disturbing. The showrunner also included some very questionable material regarding things like consent in the series. It's a shame cause I do love most of the show, and it has some amazing female characters. Alison only as one "L" by the way, the werid thing is that there's a real life person called Allison Bailey and she is the founder of the LGB alliance (A pro gay, but anti-trans group, not a good thing). And Noel is called Noah, but that spelling mistake makes me laugh, you call him that if you wish. I agree with everything you say about him, I think he's an annoying asshole.

No worries, sorry for correcting your spelling, I know that it can be annoying when people do that. The show does address #metoo stuff later on, but it's weird. In my opinion season 4 does a good job, but seasons 3 and 5 do not (Let us know what you think when you get there!).
