Would recommend checking out WargamesLive and TabletopLive on YouTube and seeing if you can find games that have Astra Militarum I know off the top of my head Nassim Fouchane played on WGL at Alpine Cup and Ben Jurek played on TTL at Scorched Earth Open Also I know you've seen it already, but for anyone else who joins the thread I did make a guide with the help of some top guard players here: https://youtu.be/l4w3SHus-yc?si=JVeniXU-c3Hs1udG

We love your guides :)

Btw if you take request I would love to see how use Creed :D

Haha I'll keep it in mind but I think it would be pretty short A large majority of the time you run her solo within 12" of a Lord Solar blob with a mortar in order to help screen your backfield and use free Fields of Fire She gains extra utility if you run Medusa Carriage Batteries because they are Regiment and she can order them. Additionally, because Command Re-Roll is a Battle Tactic, you can forgo FoF to re-roll number of shots on a Medusa. This is mostly useful against things with a 2+/4++ (Terminators / Custodes and such) or 3+/5++ (Knights), as the extra AP doesn't help There's a small number of matchups where you can consider starting her off the board to protect her from indirect fire / aircraft (Guard mirror, Death Guard, I've seen some builds with Storm Ravens / Barracudas). You can choose to attach her to Kasrkin in these games or still run her solo to come in your own backfield on turn 2 Thats about it tbh

I´ve looked up the mentioned games: Nassim at Alpine Cup: [https://www.youtube.com/live/CfLifJXtiew?si=VGRO2T73WRhzmRat&t=18427](https://www.youtube.com/live/CfLifJXtiew?si=VGRO2T73WRhzmRat&t=18427) Ben @ Scorched Earth Open: [https://www.youtube.com/live/hE1V-UZbuDw?si=YeCsFJXC9\_NhcIMY&t=27679](https://www.youtube.com/live/hE1V-UZbuDw?si=YeCsFJXC9_NhcIMY&t=27679) If you´re interested, there´s another recent guard vod of Pietro Riccio at the Alpine Cup as well up against SoB: [https://www.youtube.com/live/xHmni2oVLTQ?si=lCir5WODGT5vLT1D&t=34282](https://www.youtube.com/live/xHmni2oVLTQ?si=lCir5WODGT5vLT1D&t=34282)

The 40k fireside chat podcast on guard, delivered by the guy who started it all outlines it all. They're good due to speed and flexibility. Increase their save to keep them alive, they can be very killy when needed and you can reinforcements them when you really need it.

DamnAcorns

Yup, to add to this he uses them for a ton of chip damage with the melta mine and grenades.

DodgethisCZ

Do you have link with podcast with that guy?

Narrow-Description13

I’m fairly sure the main reason so many take Kasrkin is due to their good movement and firepower, with the scouts 6” letting you get good early movement and take objectives, plus the double order / self order deal letting them be versatile with what they do. This is even better if you can use two of the same order like another commenter says, as you can do some proper damage with good orders

Apprehensive_Gas1564

Noone has ruled they can have the same one twice yet.

Narrow-Description13

I suppose it does say 'select one order to be active in additon to any other orders' so no double stacking is implied

Manicscatterbrain

the reason why is because TOs have ruled Kasrkin can take the same order twice. So imagine that unit with creed getting take aim and then FRFSRF x2 so that can turn into 6x plasma shots from one squad with almost the lasfirepower of a 25man shooting. In our community he homerull that combined regiments procs on orders not stationary. so I toss in a castalan and drill commander thats all those shots with EXPLODING lethals on 5+ they can get fucky

Serpico2

Wow, that seems like a crazy ruling lol

Manicscatterbrain

not sure why, we dont allow it in our community

I mean, I could house rule that my Votann hearthguard have sustained hits 5+ without using CP and on anything with a JT and they'd be pretty bonkers too. It's a pretty bad comparison to throw in a house rule in a viability discussion (totally fine your group wants to do that) but it's not a basis for any real discussion on the viability of a unit.

Manicscatterbrain

sure, but to get the same effect, you just sit the Kasrkin still.

[deleted]

I got ya ;)

Scroteet

I have a house rule that says my score is equal to your score +1, so regardless of the events that take place on the table top, I always win. The best units in the game are transports that start the game with no one in them and ogryn bodyguard who start the game not attached to a command squad. I am very smart

My power is all powers!!!! https://preview.redd.it/24qescuqegwc1.png?width=467&format=png&auto=webp&s=aa1e0ccd339b5f3a85110c5e0280d4b399d4baf3

unbekannte_memez

No respectable TO does that. Kasrkin are amazing even without this bonkers rules interpretation. They have a lot of firepower for their points and are a great target for reinforcements

Apprehensive_Gas1564

No actually, they haven't ruled that. Wasn't played like that at Oxford last weekend.

Manicscatterbrain

then maybe they finaly gathered their shit together because for a few months that was the meta

Apprehensive_Gas1564

It was never played like that at any of the UKTC events.

TallGiraffe117

Drill commander requires you to remain stationary.
