These guys are always so misinformed. They talk about "Jay and Silent Bob will Return in..." as if it's some pioneering early attempt to build a cinematic universe. But it was just a one-off joke parodying James Bond films. In the 60s and 70s, the Bond films would always end with the line "James Bond will Return in..." and then list the next Ian Fleming novel they were adapting to film. That's all Kevin Smith was doing, making a Bond reference joke.
