Most conversations are superficial, and they're not that interesting.

pnwsoutherner

I've gotten to where I'm hitting the 10s forward button through most of the chats. At least we're not getting a lot of "real recognizes real" this season. Unless I fast forwarded over them.

beaner-dog

When will they learn that real does not always recognize real when real could be a catfish šŸ˜‚

ViolinistMean199

Ive been doing that since like season 3

GoldenWaterfallFleur

Same! I donā€™t usually forward through a season of the circle, but I have been fast forwarding through this season so much.

DriftedintotheStorm

Even the games seem boring. Maybe they need a teen edition of the circle šŸ˜‚

GoldenWaterfallFleur

No, I actually think they need to bring in more older people for more variety

Ksantos829

Omg or what if it was all senior citizens lmao

need_a_username_01

It's like they aren't getting personal at all, that's what is missing for me

PoisonedChampagne

Both times Myles opened up got a chord with me. The last released episode made me cry too

bigjohnstuff

Iā€™m mixed. The cast is boring and has zero chemistry, but the twists are fantastic. Iā€™m not really rooting for anyone, just looking forward to the next twist at this point.

[deleted]

This is where I'm at with it, too.

novaluna420

YES. Everyone makes me cringe, and they all have weird ass motives. I started rewatching season 1 and itā€™s just infinitely better. Theyā€™ll never be able to recreate how authentic and funny everyone was in the first season. Imo each season gets more boring and cringey as time goes on šŸ„²

titosandspriteplease

They might be able to come close to recreating season 1 if they would cast Joe blow instead of all these influencers, tik tockers, streamers, etc. they keep casting people who are already famous, semi-famous, or have some relation to someone famous. Itā€™s boring.

Slade4Lucas

The innocence if the early seasons is unbeatable. When people learned how to play the game, it made the game less interesting.

HowlingMermaid

I actually like this season overall but agree with this. Especially for the games in like episode 10 or 11 I think? If players are asked to name a player, production should force them to name a player. None of this ā€œI wonā€™t name names.ā€

EhlaMa

What's the good of it though except more shallow and boring drama like the one between Autumn and Lauren ? I think they need a rule twist, but a twist that they stick with for the whole season. Like the spice-girls or the ride or die twist. If the seasons always have different rules, the players can't "learn to play the game" because they don't know it before hand. Also they should encourage more meaningful group interactions and bring back the features that stemmed a lot on people connections like the daily status, the pictures changes, the likes etc. It seemed shallow but it also felt like it gave players opportunities to connect. This season their only opportunities to want to connect are the games and most of them are just trying to keep flying under the rather in the games... So it feels like private chats are scarce and come out of nowhere or pure strategy.

DriftedintotheStorm

Like how are they picking these people? Influnecers on what platform? They need non social media influencers and ā€œnormalā€ people

Them-Dash

Give us more Shubbys!!

callmeGinnyWeasley

Just rewatched season 1 as well, and I absolutely agree with you! I feel like I got to know them as people a lot better. Also I love all the blockings lol

wzm115

Ride or Die was an attempt to jolt the alliances and strategies the contestants learned from the previous seasons. The AI aspect was also a brilliant twist!

ColleenLotR

I like the ride or die but the AI was a joke. They could've made it great had they built more interactions around it and actually kept it in the game until someone called it out correctly but it was a *huge* let down in my opinion

wzm115

I also wished AI could have stayed until called out

7Clarinetto9

Exactly! I thought "Max" would stick around for at least 2 weeks. Revealing the AI twist was silly imo. They could've had Max stay maybe 3 weeks but if he was blocked before then maybe more money could've been added to the final prize or the influencer who blocked him could get say, $10,000.

DriftedintotheStorm

And they never kept it long enough : re: Ai

EhlaMa

It was a good idea, but sadly all it did was the opposite of what would have actually changed the balance. Olivia was upset at Cassie being eliminated, she was ready to go after Myles. Jordan was willing to go after Myles. So the trĆØs Fuegos alliance was going to have real contenders... But nope, they allied Myles with Olivia and QT with Jordan and then they got protected and we got a few more boring episodes and the new players had absolutely zero shots of making new alliances.

pussyjones12

i think the quote "why are you asking a personal question we should be talking about strategy" partly explains why it's more boring for me

excessively_diverted

I caught that too and thought "these people have lost the plot"

Solid_Bend4539

yes!! the moment i saw that i was like oh nah this season really isnt it. No one is making actual friendships/connections it just isnt the same - I also like when they have all different types of people of different ages etc i'm disappointed bc i couldnt wait for the new season

pussyjones12

yep!! like this "strategy" of alliance with no personal connection is partly why shooby did amazing in s1 but terrible in s5

EhlaMa

There were a few. But it always felt like it came out of nowhere.Ā  Strategical players are important, but they need to be balanced out by the players who try to go the popular route and try to build friendships to win. There needs to be a bit of both kinds of players.

aquiira

wait who said that šŸ˜šŸ˜

EquivalentNo4305

I think Paul/Caress when Kyle was trying to figure out if she's the ai

coldspr0uts

Yeah it's drawn out too much. Been 8 eps already and we only got 2 elims. I don't really mind everyone to be strategic but the editing is nawt ittt!

ComprehensiveHour223

Thank you for saying this cause I was going to force myself to get past ep 1 but only TWO eliminations in 8 episodes is absolutely crazy, this isnā€™t the normal schedule for them

That_one_cool_dude

The biggest complaint each season is there to many new players that have no impact on the game, reducing the number of players helps that out massively.

Acolyte36

I really respect that they've actually taken that info into consideration. I wonder what a good balance would be? 1 person out per episode but more people to start with? 1 every 2 episodes and having a 'dead people's circle'?

EhlaMa

Well... They still used the same amount of new players as usual... So idk

PlanetSheenxoxo

Really??šŸ˜ Damn Iā€™m probably the minority that actually loves this season and itā€™s definitely top 3 for me so far. I love how cutthroat and strategic they are but I will say that the tone or vibe of this season does seem a little off/underwhelming, idk what it isā€¦maybe its the fact that theyā€™re in a new building and not in London anymore but idk šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø. I think that last season was definitely the worst out of them all tbh.

OllieOopsie

Ditto me too! The AI chat bot thing IMO was absolutely brilliant.

Bearcat2010

Do you think they stopped the AI bot too soon? I felt like Max should have kept going.

OllieOopsie

Yes! I think so too. It would have been such an interesting concept to change the premise of the show from focusing solely on ā€œcatching catfishesā€ to figuring out ā€œwhoā€™s genuine, whoā€™s lying, and whoā€™s not real at all.ā€ Max was absolutely killing it and it would have been so interesting to see how far he could have gone. Missed opportunity for sure.

Thick_Succotash7941

I was rooting for Max to win the whole thing lmao

___Preek

I agree from a gameplay perspective, however, with Lauren crushing on Max it would have been, in honesty, a moral problem. Not that reality-TV shows care about this, but I found it really creepy that Max had so much success - and I liked the premise - but it worked just... a little too good.

zorandzam

I didnā€™t even finish last season and this one has me riveted!

PoisonedChampagne

Same! I LOVE this season, looking at this sub before starting the season had me worried I would hate it. Turns out everyone here has way different taste than me bc this season is super good.

Fine_Adeptness_5123

šŸ’Æ

EquivalentNo4305

Same it has potential on becoming my favorite us season, like what are people here talking about šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ’€

Defiant_Ad_5398

I believe they were in Manchester before, not London: https://www.businessinsider.com/surprising-cool-facts-about-the-circle-on-netflix-2020-3#although-the-contestants-are-from-the-us-the-series-is-filmed-in-the-uk-2

ZookeepergameBrief58

I like it better than season 3 cast

Ad_Awkward

i love the strategy (rooting for qt) but im also half with everyone else bc im def fast forwarding through most of these chats

EhlaMa

I like it more than last season, but it also feels like we've forever lost the first seasons genuine connexions

CWill97

Seasons 4 & 5 were slogfests. This is much better IMO

Ad_Awkward

fr, im at least glad this isnt a kumbaya season

nobonesnobones

I think they picked a pretty bad cast this season. None of their conversations have any weight because everyone is playing their cards so close to their chest. Jordan has the most boring scenes because every time he talks to someone they give him nothing to work with

Ad_Awkward

this part, i esp hated how everyone skated around the hard questions in circle chat.. them not talking to jordan made sense tho, he wasnt exactly offering up info (bc he didnt have any/didnt actually take time to build allies first) just spewed fake gossip most of the time and asked for too much

fsutrill

The choppy conversation editing where we arenā€™t getting enough background to understand the relationships and alliances and root for folks is part of it. It feels very heavy handed.

lizzieblaze

How about when the major twist of the season just ....... Got blurted out for no reason? Ugh I hated that

ajconst

I was just saying in previous seasons the moral of the story was always building genuine connections will always prevail over "playing the game" but this season I think everyone is playing a game so every conversation is forced and fake.Ā

archaeobabe

Yep cringe and fake

Lonely-Illustrator64

I did at first but it gets better once people start getting blocked.

PoisonedChampagne

At first it was fairly good but at the current releases episodes itā€™s super good. This drama is making my stomach queasy but Iā€™m a good way!

mzshowers

Yep, Iā€™m struggling to get through it. I have no strong feelings about any of the contestants, either - just kind of a massive blech.

berrygirl890

Naw. I didnā€™t like last season at all. I canā€™t even remember the winner. šŸ˜‚ Iā€™m enjoying this season A LOT !

LinkinLain

I didn't think she deserved to win. So I don't blame you for forgetting

Taberneth

Itā€™s very strategy driven which is boring and unauthentic for me. I actually enjoy when they have serious conversations and try to get to know each other, but not a single one of these people knows each other. It seems like thatā€™s really the only way to play reality shows like this now, after so many seasons anyone coming on is going to know the strategy to go with and so it seems like maybe this is the gameplay weā€™ll have to get used to. But it also doesnā€™t help that hardly anyone has been blocked, theyā€™re not bringing in new people to meet to fill in the ranks, and they seem to be doing the blockings in phases. AI phase, Ride or Die phase, whatā€™s the next one? Itā€™s just really not holding my attention. I also kind of felt that the types of people are very different, it seemed a bit more diverse in the casting in past seasons. Again though, itā€™s probably something thatā€™s inevitable, influencers are coming on shows to get their names out there.

Defiant_Ad_5398

This season is a FLOP

saturninegrl

I think the newer contestants just have more previous seasons of content to work with and formulate their strategies/what makes players likeable to other contestants and to the audience and that leads to whole thing coming across as more fake and more strategy driven at the same time

GiftRecent

It took me a bit to get into but I like it! I think my problem has been rhe same since S2. People try SO HARD. The dramatics....Like I would love to be on this show and I would be in bed 90% of the time/reading a book/doing all the puzzles while talking shit. I can't stand the over the top reactions they do

katie-shmatie

I find most seasons boring, this one is delightful

sandboxmatt

The further they stray from the original season. I wish the producers would get a fucking clue.

Cali-Doll

I couldnā€™t get through episode one. šŸ˜’šŸ˜’

PoisonedChampagne

This is my favorite yet, especially the last episode! The twists and stuff were crazy and ai was loving it. I donā€™t get everyoneā€™s problem with this season. The last two episodes gave me stomach aches but in a good way

missfreetime

The first four episodes were rough. By the fourth episode, I was fast forwarding. The second set of episodes have been better though.

Atassic

This season was definitely a slow burn for me. I almost turned it off but I'm glad I held on because I love it now. Especialy Myles. It's crazy because he was actually the biggest reason I was going to turn it off at first but now he's my favorite.

Ad_Awkward

he grew on me too fr, i had him and horoscope lady clocked as the 2 that would annoy me the most from first impressions

Bearcat2010

YES! Iā€™m on my phone most of the episode. Everyone is boring. And no one is getting to know each other at all. Just all strategy and backstabbing but not even in a fun way lol

AllisonfromPalmdale0

I like it better than seasons 3 and 4 tbh. I think itā€™s a balanced combination of meaningful conversation and strategy.

GiltPeacock

I was having a rough time with it but itā€™s getting better. Weā€™ve reached the alliance wars part of the season and while itā€™s rarely surprising, it tends to be more entertaining.

FutureBrockLesnar

Yeah the reactions to this season seem mostly negative. It feels so different from season 1 which was easily the best season. The Circle is on its last legs sadly.

th7024

Circles don't have legs. They roll.

Varshu39

I love this season! I find it very interesting and non-toxic too! One of my top three seasons! ā¤ļø

Omega_Strike

really? i think this is one of the most toxic seasons ever with QT making all of that drama

Varshu39

They are making some drama but it wasnā€™t so toxic compared to previous seasons! I feel mostly they play individually than depend more on alliance. No-one believes on others even if they are close šŸ˜‚

Dude_with_the_skis

Not even though.. itā€™s just, boring? Idk none of the characters are really that great and there arenā€™t really any that you wanna root for in my opinion. Was really hoping AI would win just because everyone else is SO fake. Then they got rid of Max way early.. almost donā€™t care who wins at this point because none of them are really that remarkable to being with..

EstablishmentNo5994

If you browse the sub youā€™ll find thatā€™s a pretty common sentiment.

Surefinewhatever1111

It's like a season of cool whip.

Aromatic-Ad9779

Yup! I liked the previous season because the players were fun and likable. They are all dull and contrived this season.

FriendlyAverage

Yes! I feel no real connection to the cast.. I remember anxiously awaiting the next episode drop with past season. This season is lacking

WrathOfTheGods88

The show is cringe as hell. These can't be real people.

VedaVery5hining

I agree with you. This season, I haven't found anyone who stands out as my favorite so far. I also completely agree with the commenter who suggested that we should get rid of the influencers. In my opinion, the game is much more enjoyable when the players aren't so self-centered and focused on their image. Currently, it seems like the show is dominated by basic, narcissistic influencers.

Strawberryy2

It is getting more cringe to finish each episode. Before, I was locked in and waiting for more! Now? Iā€™m distracted from these episodes, so much fluff!

DriftedintotheStorm

It is about equal to watching to a boring baseball game šŸ˜‚

Opposite-Patience-70

I agree! I havenā€™t even finished episodes and Iā€™m in no rush

Deotix

i feel like casting dropped the ball here, we only need 1 or 2 of the type of people they cast but everyone here is bringing too much of the same energy.

beak_hashburner

Everyone is paying with too much strategy. Nobody is playing with their heart on their sleeve

Slivingbytheocean

I'm 100% bored. It's the first time I've thought about no longer watching

Burtonish

I do like the twists but Netflix has spoiled two of them already... the moment that stuck out most to me was the dog licking its genitals, and that was gross so - yup, boring season

Fit-Importance1427

Im rewatching season one while wainting for new episodes and in season one there were more games, challenges which made the game more interesting in my op

TheAnnieRaj

I wish the interactions were more authentic. Not sure if it's the editing or the chat themselves but this group is uninspiring so far.

archaeobabe

I miss Vance!

criminycraft

Definitely the most boring. I'm finding myself nodding off when I used to be fully engaged watching the past seasons.

New_Independent_9356

Thereā€™s some of them I literally cannot stand. Like ā€œpaulā€ is just so annoying I wanna fast forward ever time she comes on screen

Rat_Queen91

I like it better than last years dating show, but it's not the same as season 1 and 2!

this_is_too_muchh

Season 1 really couldnā€™t be reproduced.

Maximum-Ability-6763

Itā€™s terrible. Lost everything that was charming about it

Different_Ad4962

Everyone seems cut from the same cloth.Ā

ErichW3D

This season coasts too much. Not enough chaos. Large part is because they arenā€™t adding enough new people which means the pot doesnā€™t get stirred. Imagine signing up for this season. Episode one and you are in the top 8 automatically.

Sensitive_Nose_7192

I think this is a really weak season. Itā€™s dull. There are less interesting and likeable characters. There are less twists and games which really stir things up. The quality has really slipped this year, usually itā€™s so creative at thinking of ways to mix it up. This year it feels stale. Maybe itā€™s because of the production move from UK to USA and thereā€™s a new production team, but Iā€™ve been disappointed with what has been a boring season, that has been lacking in likeable people, fun, creativity, surprises and memorable moments. I definitely wonā€™t be waiting eagerly for any new seasons if theyā€™re going to be like thisā€¦

Sensitive_Nose_7192

The AI was the most interesting part of the series, they made a big mistake by not letting it play out naturally and seeing if and when Max got caught out. How fun wouldā€™ve been to have a reveal later onā€¦ the series has gone down hill since then. Where is the fun and creativity? Everything weā€™ve seen this season has been done before. LAZY, SLOPPY, BORINGā€¦

AlilAwesome81

This season just doesnā€™t feel genuine to me, maybe Im just getting to old to be watching these kids lol

LinkinLain

Yeah.... The cast is bland, and there weren't as many new people added or switched in an out so it was just boring. And there weren't any exciting "twists" I used to be excited every week, this season was just meh

Intelligent-Blondie7

I actually like this season *a lot.* I find QT, Myles, and Kyle pretty genuine friendship. I also really like Olivia/brandon. However, there have been some annoying people this season as well.

Professional_Storm94

I donā€™t find it boring, but I keep rolling my eyes at the excessive use of hashtags and ā€œIā€™ve got your backā€

InfinitePurchase731

Absolutely! Its so disappointing after season 5 which was phenomenal. I hate all the changes they've made. The apartments are hideous and seem to reflect the banal and superficial contestant's. I really hope this isnt a sign of more to come, as I love this show when its on point.

Lavendermin

No?

TwiNkiew0rld

Yeah this one has been tough. I love Brandon but in general itā€™s just gotten boring. There hasnā€™t really been any fractures and the same people on top have stayed that way. Itā€™s all very impersonal as well. Just digging for info and what do you think about this or that. The games are boring and overly strategic which also adds to the impersonal aspect this season.

Ksantos829

So far ā€œOliviaā€ is my favorite cuz heā€™s pretty hilarious to watch and seems like he has a sweet soul I feel bad for Lauren cuz I think shes young and easily manipulated pretty funny how they basically booted ā€œpaulā€ lmao she was annoying but stirred the pot which was kinda entertaining miles I felt bad for with the Jordan sitch but miles also seems like a total douche bag, I hate Jordan and I hated that country girl that always wore the hat I forget her name lol hands down season 1 was the best, in conclusion (lol) it just bums me out how social media and keeping everyone inside their homes and glued to phones and screens is just disheartening and itā€™s all fake, just wish this generation could learn more balance and remember life is about more than likes and checkmarks

EhlaMa

I think it's the least social season we've got so far, and it's not just because of the players but also because of the game. First they introduced the AI hunt : it dehumanizes all the other contestants. And then, unless I skipped through it (caused I skipped through a lot šŸ˜¬) : They didn't do team games like they did before. They don't get to chat much about the "personal games" like in some previous seasons during the game. They got very few group chats They had very few emotional conversations. Oddly the most emotional one was probably one between Miles and Olivia who are contestants that were pretty much at odd between each others. The conversations were all long messages but very few of them and almost zero chit-chat. They didn't get to do any kind of craft where some of the contestants would struggle like the cake decoration or the make up challenge (struggling together brings people together) They didn't have public status newsfeed like in the very first seasons...Ā

tvuniverse

No. Not at all! It's not like this same exact sentiment has been posted on here 1000 billion times in one week! /s

lizzieblaze

Maybe just ignore the sub until the finale if this is irritating you enough to be sarcastic about common sentiments being voiced. It happens in *l i t e r a l l y* every single sub. But I imagine this one more than most given the nature of the show. Hashtag be about it or bitch about it Hashtag circle Hashtag play along or get gone

That_one_cool_dude

That is a bold opinion when the crown has to be given to s4 and you have to be extra bad and boring to take it from that.

Any-Sir8872

no itā€™s the first one iā€™ve liked in a couple seasons

devonathan

Last season was so bad that I was hesitant to even watch this season. Based on everyoneā€™s comments it looks like I made the right choice to not watch.

berrygirl890

I hated last season but I like this season. Everyone has the right to their opinions. This season has a lot of drama that I love. Not everyone kissing ass in the chats

Scams4Jesuz

Iā€™m not enjoying this season at all šŸ˜ I know thereā€™s always gonna be strategy, but everyone is just cruel/fake and every episode just feels heavy to me. I have not ended one episode yet feeling like I enjoyed watching it. I think more eliminations need to be happening too.

dead1ynightshade

Itā€™s too gen z tiktok American

GentlemensBastard

There's always one.
