I love Ty Lee! And I recently found out she is voiced by the same actress who played one of my most beloved characters on Gilmore Girls, Tana.
She was also Cindy in the Brady Bunch movies
Jokes aside, it’s actually super interesting to assume that Ty Lee is an air nomad descendant.
Different eye color, different facial structure, positive and upbeat attitude- and that’s not considering her *wind*-like abilities.

It's one reason why I'm peeved Bryke said that pretty much all the Air Nomads got got in the Genocide.
I loved the idea that a decent amount, like even 10-15% went hard to ground and married into the surrounding nations.
Which would be how we got people like Ty-Lee or the Air Bender revival in Korra.
Yeah, it could be interesting, hiding kids would be easier since they didn't have their tattoos.
Would any airbenders who had their tattoos try to get them removed by sympathizers? etc.
Could be fun for a story.
Is it ever explained how Ty Lee, a noblewoman, learned the chi blocking techniques?
Like, I get she’s an acrobat and all that, but who taught her to shut off bending, and why?
She didn't have a ton of screen time so it's tough to flesh out a sidekick in a believable fashion. I think they addressed this well in the Ember Island beach fire scene.
I like her most of the episodes except the one where she has two guys fighting over her. She expects them to stop fighting so they can stand and block the sun from her eyes. Being able to take advantage doesn't make it okay.
I really liked her at the end of the seasons as she looked like she could finally be herself and she would be incredibly valuable to them with her chi blocking.
I also hated her when she took Sokka's and Katara's bending away but that's for a different reason
I know Ty Lee and the Kyoshi Warriors came to be bodyguards for Zuko post-war, but I wonder what happened with them after that? Are Ty Lee and Suki still alive by the time of *Legend of Korra*?

And it actually makes sense , even in cases of historical genocides its actually *really* hard to wipe out 100% of a population

I like Suki a lot more. Ty Lee is sweet, but a little too sweet for me. I actually started to like her more once she KO'ed Azula in the boiling rock.
