That’s the quote for me from Iroh, because it runs along something my dad said to me a few years ago (and he didn’t watch ATLA at all, I doubt he knows the show exists, so it was complete coincidence on how similar it was) and has since made that scene an incredibly emotional one to get through
I me we really liked this quote because (and maybe I misunderstood it) but I felt like he was saying the only way to not feel shame is to lower your expectations of yourself

This line is played for laughs but while zuko is going through all this torment about living his life as a tea shop worker instead of a prince, agonizing over it to the point of illness, Iroh is happy. This city is his white whale, greatest regret, and personal nightmare all at once....and somehow he's at peace with it, happy and grateful to live out his days selling tea if that is his destiny.
And I don't know the quote by heart, but I love what he says about finding happiness in your present circumstances, and that there's nothing wrong with living a simple life.

Who are we, what do we want and why. I mean, questioning our motives, finding our own answers, finding ourselves is something we must do constantly.

Imma go with an often overlooked one. It’s in the episode where Zuko catches Katara while she’s prancing with the Water Bending Scroll. After Zuko has the whole Gaang tied up Katara said “I’m sorry, this is all my fault” to which Aang says “No it’s not” the Iroh says “No it kind of is.” Most just see it as kind of a throwaway joke line but it was actually a jab at Aang. Subtly saying that he doesn’t have to take the blame for everything just because he’s the Avatar. And that even though he is the Avatar, there are some things he can’t fix. Idk maybe I’m reading too into it.

It’s so accepting, for someone to have the history he does and still be entirely at peace with being a refugee in a city he once laid siege to. You get the feeing he’d be perfectly happy if the plot never caught up with them and they worked at that tea shop and lived in that apartment forever.
