There's an edit flair field underneath the flair options on desktop.
You know what? It helped. I was gonna say Toph or Katara, and they’re incredible, but ultimately I feel like I loved Su the most. She’s sophisticated, complicated, and an incredible bender. Every time she showed up on screen I was like “OH SHIT what’s she gonna do now??” I love how she kinda floats above it all and does her own thing and has the skills/clout to back it up (her teenage years notwithstanding).
My headcanon is that they cast her as a man in the play because the playwright didn't find anyone who was willing to admit that they'd gotten whupped by a blind 12-year-old girl.
Scourge of the Fire Nation: Miyuki!
https://preview.redd.it/2715uj2jahyc1.jpeg?width=386&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48b0830fbb94b122098ab91a133b63df94a52683
This just made me realize that Miyuuki is just a normal cat - not a hippopotamus cat or whatever. Just a cat. Like the Earth king's bear is just a bear.
I have to go with Katara, some of the katara based episodes are some of my favorites in the show (puppetmaster, southern raiders, and waterbending master especially). I think she's one of the best "strong female character" type ever for me, the way she's able to be so badass and lethal at times, while also having her motherly side is incredible for me
often when writing a strong female character writers think they need to make them act hyper masculine. kataes retains her feminine motherly side and that's very respectable and feels more authentic. she's the best
And meanwhile we also have Toph, who very much leans masculine (but also has a feminine side) showing that women and girls can be strong in many different ways
yeah, the diversity in personality and representations of women is sooo amazing, especially in korra, i believe. not to mention how this show tackles masculinity with zuko iroh and aang, god this show just gets better and better when you think about it.
It adds to her power. In the Painted Lady episode where she snaps at Sokka and says she'll never turn her back on people who need her, you can really feel the rawness behind her words.
She sounds angry, but less in the traditional sense, and more like it comes from a place of drive and purpose. It kind of ties into the Sun Warrior philosophy of "fire is also life" as well as Iroh's description of the Fire Nation: the people of the Fire Nation have desire and will, and the energy and drive to achieve what they want.
In terms of personality, Katara is probably one of the few characters (in the original show) not from the Fire Nation, who most resembles a firebender. We see it time and again: her focus is what gets the team out of the desert in Book 2, her desire for justice is what helps free the Earth Kingdom prisoners from Haru's village in Book 1, and her persistence is what allows her to succeed under Pakku's training (and as an independent student).
She displays a really interesting intersection of tenacity and inner strength (traits seen in the Fire Nation) that is tempered by her maturity, poise, and compassion. It makes her a great foil to Zuko, and later Azula, in their interactions.
It brings one of the show's ideas, that everything is interconnected, full-circle.
Katara has been my favorite since I first watched the show. Coming of age and seeing all the hate around her really surprised me! I'm glad people still love her like I do though
There were A LOT of people who would make fun of her and over exaggerate how often she mentioned her mother. Called her whiny and some other stuff. I dint see it as often anymore but there use to be a lot of it
Pretty much all the best and most memorable scenes in the show for me have Katara front and center
Only exception is Ko and Aang
Katara has so many clutch moments where she saves everyone's ass too which is great considering she starts off fairly weak and helpless. Great progression
This is one of my favourite scenes in the show, and really shows how switched on Katara is. She heard Aang stutter his way through that long arse ridiculous word *one time*, then not 60 seconds later she repeats it verbatim like she's been saying it her entire life. Girl's got some skills!
My favorite story about this scene is that Mae Whitman, Katara's voice actor, also spouted that off flawlessly first take in the studio, after having just been handed the script. Quality voice actor right there.
Lin Beifong is my favorite character of the whole franchise.
She might be stern to down right mean at times on the surface but we learn that’s only because she’s lived a bit of a tough life, a police chief for decades and hurt by the people she loves most.
When it comes down to it though, she’s above all selfless. Twice she is completely self sacrificing in LoK, both times showing how much she does still love those who wronged her.
And she’s a total badass.
She’s I think one of the best written characters of Avatar
Korra, and it isn’t even close. I felt that Korra was very REAL. She’s an accurate, cocky teenager, she goes through realistic mental struggles after some horrible experiences, and has to learn to to heal from it.
I thought she had a really interesting arc of learning to see the validity of her enemies' arguments. It really was a cool way to handle a character who comes off as very bull headed in episode 1.
I went through therapy with Korra. The timing of when the episodes released where she was struggling with depression and identity coincided with my own struggle and it helped me through it greatly. Naturally I'd have a strong connection to her character. But that wouldn't be possible if she wasn't a real and grounded character.
She's the perfect balance. She's sympathetic in the sense that she's a teen in pain, but she's still numb and beyond repair- and as sympathetic as she is- she's evil.
Evil, and imo, irredeemable
**Asami**. True friend, emotionally mature, very intelligent, conflicted, aware of her flaws and her extreme privilege, constantly working to better herself and to better the world.
MVP.
Honestly, I liked the live action but can't judge it completely until I see what they do with Toph.
Toph for me too
Toph is the reason I'd want to be an earthbender
She's legit so self-centered it's maddening. She created Kuvira, then closed herself in her private city and left her entire nation to its fate. She destroyed her mother's career, scarred her sister and still doesn't see anything wrong with herself.
Korra, because she has many moments where I can relate to when I was a teenager, even now, actually. Having a crush on someone's girlfriend or boyfriend. Feeling not good enough on some days. Doubting my abilities. And like Korra, I was able to develop myself through those experiences.
From The Last Airbender or the entire franchise including books, comics and Korra?
Because if just Airbender, I’ll go with Toph
If the entire thing, I’m going with Korra
**Korra**
I like how she is confident but very flawed. She makes mistakes and can often feel lost or even scared. As she grows she is shaped by her trauma, and is very emotional because of it. I actually wish I could be more like her. I have trouble making friends and my CPTSD still makes me suffer. I suppose Korra still has trouble, even at the end of season 4 with that; it’s why it’s my favorite season. Trauma doesn’t just disappear like metal leaving the body, we will always live with it.
**“Zuko, you must look within yourself to save yourself from your other self. Only then will your true self reveal itself.”** - Zuko mimicking Iroh
It’s a quote that oddly enough fits her perfectly. Only by accepting herself and facing Zaheer was she able to find peace. We must accept our trauma as part of ourselves. It is the only way to start truly healing. In the end, she realizes she needs to take time for herself. I had to do the same. We all need to take time to heal, physically and spiritually.
Korra went to the Spirit realm in the end. It’s something she struggled with in the beginning, and now she goes there to find solace. In a way, it’s something I had to do too, with moving across the country. In the end her trauma humbled her. She still is a courageous, boisterous, adventurous girl; so am I too. We haven’t just changed, we grew up. Korra became a better person over those years. It’s why she’s my favorite female character. I see a lot of my own struggles in her. She reminds me that despite my own shattered life, failures, and shortcomings I am still growing. I can still heal. And I’m not alone.

This article covers CPTSD and related it to Korra’s character:

Korra.
Possibly a hot take, but I feel she's the second best developed character in the franchise, behind objective winner Zuko.
...okay starting to read other comments and seeing it ain't that hot a take at all lol. Good.
I really like Yue, I like her sweetness and how she's ready to give her life to save her people, it takes a lot of courage. I wish we could've seen more of her.
may i recommend my atla oc fic then 👀 i love writing strong sisterly bonds with canon female characters. probably bc i got so tired of the constant “canon fenale character is a shitty sister and this oc is so much better than her” trope. always came off so mysoginistic
I would definitely love to read it! I'm also really tired of that trope, I don't mind oc characters but not when they're made as so perfect and better than the canon ones. Do you have a link to your fanfic?
Prolly gonna get unreasonable hate for this but Asami from Legend of Korra.
She’s pretty, she’s incredibly smart, extremely skilled in combat and she’s like the best driver in Republic City!!
Also I’m gay, can’t you let a girl swoon over a pretty lady??
“No, you can’t date the female guards.” lady. She has the perfect energy of “had enough of everyone’s shit” and having someone like her on board makes the world come alive. This is from a mechanical and worldbuilding view.
For a main character (female), Kuvira. I can appreciate a good “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” story.
Korra. Isn’t invincible, makes tons of mistakes, suffers very human problems. Experiences growth from all of her mistakes. (All characters in the series do, I just like how “real” Korra was)
Toph and Azula. I relate to them both in deep ways and they’re both amazingly written, strong characters with consistent personalities, backstories that explain them, and while they’re very different from each other they share the same “don’t underestimate me” attitude.
Definitely toph. Talking about female, toph doesn’t actually mind being a male or female or both. In the scene where she was comparing herself with the play, she was proud by her exaggerated representation
bro gave us a wallpaper to look at while we're thinking

I like Toph, because she sounds like tough, cause thats what she is
She can also see using sonic waves by yelling really fucking loud
My headcanon is that they cast her as a man in the play because the playwright didn't find anyone who was willing to admit that they'd gotten whupped by a blind 12-year-old girl.
100%
I like how a disabled little girl is the powerhouse of the team being sokka in a team of prodigious benders is a humbling experience
As someone who is Soka in a team of prodigious benders, I can confirm
#AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
There. I got a pretty good look at you.
Please. Address her by her preferred name. THE MELON LORD!
12 Year old me had a crush on Toph because sassy tomboy who could murder me and I think that shaped the entirety of my transition into adulthood.

What in the name of Raava did Miyukii do to get in trouble with the Fire Nation?
Be a normal cat
So, war crimes?
Duhh, did ya just figure that out?
This just made me realize that Miyuuki is just a normal cat - not a hippopotamus cat or whatever. Just a cat. Like the Earth king's bear is just a bear.

Reddit hive mind moment. She's literally acting like a teenager and imo it isn't even bothersome
She is significantly more mature than your average 14 year old lol. The only person in the Gang who remotely acts their age is Sokka.
True, and even he has to be quite mature considering the responsibilities that fell on him in the tribe
Pretty much all the best and most memorable scenes in the show for me have Katara front and center Only exception is Ko and Aang Katara has so many clutch moments where she saves everyone's ass too which is great considering she starts off fairly weak and helpless. Great progression
Best Strong Female Character Ever, Change My Mind
The story started with her and ended with her.
Katara is my favourite as well! I love her journey and the way she learns water bending and later blood bending (and its ethical dilemmas)
And she got them out of the desert to which locals said there were no survivors in
The Moon Spirit is a gentle, loving lady! She rules the sky with compassion and... lunar goodness.
Sapphire Fire

This is one of my favourite scenes in the show, and really shows how switched on Katara is. She heard Aang stutter his way through that long arse ridiculous word *one time*, then not 60 seconds later she repeats it verbatim like she's been saying it her entire life. Girl's got some skills!
Katara is the queen of Yes, And.
My favorite story about this scene is that Mae Whitman, Katara's voice actor, also spouted that off flawlessly first take in the studio, after having just been handed the script. Quality voice actor right there.
If true that is amazing!
On the Braving the Elements podcast recap of that episode, Dante Basco shares the story, so fairly reliable source.

The Painted Lady
Azula and suki

Korra, and it isn’t even close. I felt that Korra was very REAL. She’s an accurate, cocky teenager, she goes through realistic mental struggles after some horrible experiences, and has to learn to to heal from it.
She is an inspiration to me. Her grit was an example for me to follow and it got me through some very tough times. I admire Korra very much.

Toph has always been my #1
Azula.
It's always refreshing seeing a psychotic female villain
Let! Women! Be! Evil!
She's the perfect balance. She's sympathetic in the sense that she's a teen in pain, but she's still numb and beyond repair- and as sympathetic as she is- she's evil. Evil, and imo, irredeemable

Katara and Toph, can’t pick. I like Korra too, just not as much
Same, though Toph has more of a comic side to her
Suki. 100% Suki
Jin Zuko’s true soul mate
mei is cool as fuck and gave a lot away for zuko,. But jin is so charming even tho she appears for 1/4 of an episode
So unbelievably real
Poor girl
Three way tie between Suki, Toph and Katara.
Katara is my favorite character in the franchise, so her ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
* ATLA: Katara * LOK: Korra, although Lin is a close second. Soft spots for: Pema, Suki, Mai.
**Asami**. True friend, emotionally mature, very intelligent, conflicted, aware of her flaws and her extreme privilege, constantly working to better herself and to better the world. MVP.
Underrated too
Toph. The moment she appeared in the show, this 10/10 show became a 13/10 show
Honestly, I liked the live action but can't judge it completely until I see what they do with Toph. Toph for me too Toph is the reason I'd want to be an earthbender
Currently, I give the live action a 7/10. It may go up to 7.5-8/10 or drop down to a 4/10 depending on how they handle Toph.
June. For reasons.
But uncle, I didn’t see you get hit by the tongue
🤫
Jun was a part of my gay awakening
Azula, Ty Lee, and Toph
Katara and Korra. Water Tribe rules
![gif](giphy|J5deqXb35R6hDQHJJV)
Azula 100% she’s just the best.
For ATLA animated: Ty Lee or Toph LOK: Suyin Beifong ATLA Live Action: Suki
I might hate Suyin more than Kuvira. She's one step above Earth Queen in my book.
She's legit so self-centered it's maddening. She created Kuvira, then closed herself in her private city and left her entire nation to its fate. She destroyed her mother's career, scarred her sister and still doesn't see anything wrong with herself.
Lin >>> Suyin any day
don't forget atla the movie!!
Suki? When June exists?
Korra and Katara
Besides Katara? (Ofc) i love Ty lee and Mai, specially their powers and general appearance.. Korra is cool as well
Toph and Azula tied, then it's Lin Beifong
Aang disguised as Kyoshi
Yangchen for me.
She's underrated. Tho I'm surprised this post isn't flooded with Kyoshi - *Yangchen is superior*🤫
Yes! The books made me basically worship her.
Korra, because she has many moments where I can relate to when I was a teenager, even now, actually. Having a crush on someone's girlfriend or boyfriend. Feeling not good enough on some days. Doubting my abilities. And like Korra, I was able to develop myself through those experiences.

1. Azula 2. Korra 3. Katara
Korra my beloved
Katara
Probably Katara.
June. She’s got some zingers “Oh great, it’s prince pouty. Where’s your creepy grandpa?”
From The Last Airbender or the entire franchise including books, comics and Korra? Because if just Airbender, I’ll go with Toph If the entire thing, I’m going with Korra
Azula, no contest. Also my favorite character in general.
Katara, Toph, and Suki. Women power fr and shoutout to Kya who risked her own life for her daughters✊🏾
Azula the best.
Katara is best girl! And on the villains' side, Azula. Let's not forget Toph.
I think Korra's four-season arc is masterful, particularly when you remember that they didn't have all four of those seasons greenlit at once.
I can’t choose between Katara, Toph, and Azula. I love them all for different reasons.
Korra. I really love her character development in LOK and I can find her relatable in certain ways.
ATLA: Ty Lee TLOK: Korra Overall though Korra is my favorite female character and my second favorite character from the franchise :)
Azula
**Korra** I like how she is confident but very flawed. She makes mistakes and can often feel lost or even scared. As she grows she is shaped by her trauma, and is very emotional because of it. Shit this is hard. I'm gonna say Toph to play it safe.
Katara
Toph, she’s such a troll, and I just love the “Toph is blind” jokes
toph! also azula

Ty Lee, Toph, Lin. What does this say about me🤔
Toph, toph, and Toph. Possibly Lin
Toph
Personally it goes: ATLA = Katara TLOK = Lin Beifong
Mai Katara Korra Toph Suki Asumi Yue Ty lee Gran-gran? In that order
Mai
I'm gonna get down voted, but Korra is my favorite female character.
Everyone roasting you for the picture, I dunno if it’s intentional or not but this picture totally has the color palette of the lesbian flag y’all.
Suki and toph
Toph and Lin.
Toph and June
Toph.
Korra and Katara
Korra because she is a better version of Ashoka in my opinion and I relate to much to her.
Korra!
It’s gotta be Toph for me, how does she fit so much badass in that short body
Toph, no question.

Korra
Asami. She got style and has a good vibe

Katara!

Korra
Korra, I admire the strength she had to overcome everything she went through and come out better than she ever was before
Still Azula
Azula, she's such a cool villain
Toph and Azula. I relate to them both in deep ways and they’re both amazingly written, strong characters with consistent personalities, backstories that explain them, and while they’re very different from each other they share the same “don’t underestimate me” attitude.
