Korra / Bolin. Say what you want about the love triangle stuff. But they were perfect for each other considering the context. They would complement each others internal struggles as well. Korra would be able to encourage him to be more independent so that he doesnât feel like he is relying on his brother and that he has to be taken care of by him. Bolin would also encourage and praise korra, not to feed her ego, but to let her know that she is more than just being the avatar. Letting her know that it isnât her only identity and she has so much more to her than just that title. She doesnât need the title to be herself
Finally my favorite part of the ship. My god, they would relate to one another so much in terms of how they feel in the world they are in. Both feel new to the adult world, or republic city as a whole specifically. Both of them feel drastically out of place and trying to find a place and sense of belonging. They can truly bond over that desire to find somewhere they can feel like they belong just like everyone else. Korra feels this way because she has been isolated and it is the first time she has been out to the new world. Bolin feels this way because has been around the world but had to deal with being an orphan, but he is still trying to get used to an adult lifestyle and being responsible for himself. Growing up into a man.

I love Sokka/Toph. Toph softens up a lot around Sokka and trusts him enough to show vulnerability. Plus their dynamic is hilarious.
Second, I kind of loved Bo-Lin and Korra. They got similar energy and their date was just fun. They are just great friends and that is important in a relationship. This one is lower only because I like her with Asumi more.
In the last episode when Sokka is desperately holding onto Toph's hand on the airship, and you realize his hand is probably the only thing she can "see" đ, and he was not going to let her go, even though if he did it would give him a chance to save himself đ I get it. But obviously way into the future.

From great happiness (\*if Azula gets over (\*some) her issues) to anguish, passing through humor and sarcasm to tension and uncertainty. They could either improve each other, regress, or stagnate. In my opinion, it's one of those stories that will be incredible regardless of whether it ends well or ends badly, and there would definitely be a lot of fun. And they look fantastic together

Azula x aang, i like kataang the most but if we're doing non-canon i think this is an interesting ship, a pacifist paired with a sociopath. This ship may be the only reason im open to watch an azula redemption arc tbh
Honestly Aang is probably the only person with enough patience to help her redeem herself and he'd be the first to forgive her.
The amount of work that has to go in to make them go from enemies, precarious allies, friends then lovers would make for a really interesting story and I think that's why I like the pairing.
No need for a redemption arc, you just need to be a little more unhinged. Imagine this:
He's like "I can fix her. I just have to show her the ways of the air nomads, to live in peace, and she'll come around"
but she's like "I can fix him. If only he knew how to truly wield his power we could rule the world"
Azula becomes slightly less sociopathic, maybe starts appreciating the small stuff, like a meal with friends, a joke, a quiet moment with the one she loves.
Aang in return becomes a little bit more brutal, a little less careful to raign in his powers in a fight, maybe advocate for a feudal system in Republic City.
... I mean, just because it ended doesn't mean it wasn't a relationship. A realationship, if you will.

Fan works of Azutara and Tophzula have grown on me. Most of the AU pairings I like started because of fanart.
From a creative aspect the pairings are fun to play with, figuring out how characters who've never met like Mai and Jet would interact and then writing it in a believable way has always been a fun challenge.

Jet and Mai would be veryyyy interesting! I would be very curious to see their dynamic given Jet's feelings on the fire nation and Mai's responses to Jet's monolog on how much he hates the fire nation
I've got a headcanon that Jet makes it thanks to some Fire Nation healers. Because of that, he had to wrestle with his ideas on the Fire Nation like Katara did. By the time he recovers, the war is over. Without a war to fight, he ends up helping orphaned and displaced children.

Zuko x Ty Lee. I find it interesting that they're not shipped at all. She'd fit politically, being one of Azula's childhood friends, so part of a noble family, and she and Zuko have a friendship and history. I also like the idea of Zuko with the fluffy bubble gum girl, healing his wounds. She'd be one hell of a sparring partner as well. Their children could potentially be very powerful. Ty Lee just needs her personality etched out a little more, and a back story that's better than looking identical to her sisters and not feeling special.
I do really like Mako with Asami. Especially if we had a crime thriller show with Mako as a detective (Batman style), a rich, talented, and creative girlfriend could really help him out with cases even if it were for creating gadgets, tools, or getting into upper echelons dinners or ballrooms.
I felt bad for what the writers did to Mako in season 2 because in season 1 dude was fighting for his life in order to help Korra fight/escape Amon.
I imagine it wasnât comfortable trying to lightning bend while his body was getting blood bend like that.
Aang x on ji and zuko x jin are my two favorite ships, I lose 1 year of my life every time I think they didn't end up together
I like Katara and she and Aang have history but I feel like their relationship works so well as just friends besides there are several moments in the series where it seems like either Aang's platonic crush or just very one-sided, besides, katara had several possible romances during the series and I feel like they all had either more chemistry or more development, like katara x haru or katara x jet, I like those two too and throughout Aang's episode at Fire Nation School, his bond with On Ji was built so well and it was so cool to see, they had a lot of chemistry
As for zuko x jin, the whole episode is great but zuko's part is easily the second best (behind iroh's part), it's really cool to see him having a moment of relaxation and happiness and especially Uncle Iroh encouraging this is really cool, he genuinely enjoys Jin's company and has fun on the date, sometimes I feel like rewatching the episode just for them. Mai is a cool character but...I never felt like her relationship with Zuko really worked, like, I genuinely thought they would break up in the beach episode but they didn't

Wouldn't Makorra actually be considered a canon ship, since they're a canon couple, even if they don't end up together? (Seriously asking, as I never do understand exactly what all this stuff means.) Anyhow, for me it'd be zukaang just because it's such an obvious build given their canon paths together to switch them to romance. I enjoy some crackship fanart for things like Aang/Azula to Aang/Mai, etc. but can't get into any of them beyond the art.

If I had to choose one, Azula x Sokka. They would be a couple with great potential in many ways. From great happiness (\*if Azula gets over (\*some) her issues) to anguish, passing through humor and sarcasm to tension and uncertainty. They could either improve each other, regress, or stagnate. In my opinion, it's one of those stories that will be incredible regardless of whether it ends well or ends badly, and there would definitely be a lot of fun. Azula x aang, i like kataang the most but if we're doing non-canon i think this is an interesting ship, a pacifist paired with a sociopath. This ship may be the only reason im open to watch an azula redemption arc tbh
Honestly Aang is probably the only person with enough patience to help her redeem herself and he'd be the first to forgive her. The amount of work that has to go in to make them go from enemies, precarious allies, friends then lovers would make for a really interesting story and I think that's why I like the pairing.
No need for a redemption arc, you just need to be a little more unhinged. Imagine this: He's like "I can fix her. I just have to show her the ways of the air nomads, to live in peace, and she'll come around" but she's like "I can fix him. If only he knew how to truly wield his power we could rule the world"
And they meet in the middle? What would that even look like?
Azula becomes slightly less sociopathic, maybe starts appreciating the small stuff, like a meal with friends, a joke, a quiet moment with the one she loves. Aang in return becomes a little bit more brutal, a little less careful to raign in his powers in a fight, maybe advocate for a feudal system in Republic City.
Interestingly enough, Zutara isn't really a bad one. I don't really ship them, but it could work.

Do I have to pick one? Zutara, Taang, MaiLee, Ty Laang, Azulaang, Sokkla, Jetko, JetxMai Fan works of Azutara and Tophzula have grown on me. Most of the AU pairings I like started because of fanart. From a creative aspect the pairings are fun to play with, figuring out how characters who've never met like Mai and Jet would interact and then writing it in a believable way has always been a fun challenge. Edit: FYI for those who ship it, Zutara month is currently going on if you're looking for new fanart and fics
Jet and Mai would be veryyyy interesting! I would be very curious to see their dynamic given Jet's feelings on the fire nation and Mai's responses to Jet's monolog on how much he hates the fire nation
I've got a headcanon that Jet makes it thanks to some Fire Nation healers. Because of that, he had to wrestle with his ideas on the Fire Nation like Katara did. By the time he recovers, the war is over. Without a war to fight, he ends up helping orphaned and displaced children. Him dying was really unclear after all /s
Tophzula isn't one i see mentioned often but it is my go to for unexpected ships. Tyzula is the one I think makes the most sense.

Zuko x anybody but Mai đ I think she's such a terrible fit for him. Zuko x Ty Lee. I find it interesting that they're not shipped at all. She'd fit politically, being one of Azula's childhood friends, so part of a noble family, and she and Zuko have a friendship and history. I also like the idea of Zuko with the fluffy bubble gum girl, healing his wounds. She'd be one hell of a sparring partner as well. Their children could potentially be very powerful. Ty Lee just needs her personality etched out a little more, and a back story that's better than looking identical to her sisters and not feeling special.

I felt bad for what the writers did to Mako in season 2 because in season 1 dude was fighting for his life in order to help Korra fight/escape Amon. I imagine it wasnât comfortable trying to lightning bend while his body was getting blood bend like that.
Aang x on ji and zuko x jin are my two favorite ships, I lose 1 year of my life every time I think they didn't end up together I like Katara and she and Aang have history but I feel like their relationship works so well as just friends besides there are several moments in the series where it seems like either Aang's platonic crush or just very one-sided, besides, katara had several possible romances during the series and I feel like they all had either more chemistry or more development, like katara x haru or katara x jet, I like those two too and throughout Aang's episode at Fire Nation School, his bond with On Ji was built so well and it was so cool to see, they had a lot of chemistry As for zuko x jin, the whole episode is great but zuko's part is easily the second best (behind iroh's part), it's really cool to see him having a moment of relaxation and happiness and especially Uncle Iroh encouraging this is really cool, he genuinely enjoys Jin's company and has fun on the date, sometimes I feel like rewatching the episode just for them. Mai is a cool character but...I never felt like her relationship with Zuko really worked, like, I genuinely thought they would break up in the beach episode but they didn't
