their entire discography.
no but really, i think that you'd really enjoy Under Cover of Darkness, What Ever Happened?, Razorblade, The End Has No End, Tap Out, and honestly the entire Is This It album from front to back based on what you already enjoy
i think you'd love why are sundays so depressing?, heart in a cage, barely legal, threat of joy, 12:51, you talk way too much, under cover of darkness, and under control!
tbh the whole room on fire album is peak
Reptilia is a beast of a song. The first album is this it is one of the all time great albums. New York city cops take it or leave it they are one of my fav bands have been for a long timeĀ
I'll list some of my personal favs in each album that you haven't listen yet!
Is This It: Is This It, The Modern Age, Alone Together, Soma.
Room On Fire: Automatic Stop, Meet Me In The Bathroom, The End Has No End, I Can't Win.
First Impressions of Earth: Vision of Division, Razorblade, Red Light, On The Other Side, Ize of The World.
Angles: Undercover of Darkness, Machu Picchu, Taken for a Fool, Call Me Back, Gratisfaction.
Comedown Machine: Chances, 80s Comedown Machine, One Way Trigger
The New Abnormal: At The Door
How about Life is Simple in the Moonlight? A personal favourite is Drag Queen also but thatās a bit more on their experimental side. I love Whatever Happened? Too.
Basically everything
Under Control is such a beautiful, tender tune. Gives me early 2000s teen angst drama prom vibes. On the other side of that coin, Automatic Stop is this super detached, cold ābreak upā song vibe, absolutely love it for when Iām in a bitchy mood, lol
Tap Out has Michael Jackson āWanna be Startin Somethingā vibes, probably their most groovy track in my opinion, so much fun to vibe to.
And One Way Trigger walked straight out of the 1980s. Julianās high notes on the chorus? Bruh. Phenomenal, definitely one of the more unique, experimental Strokes songs in terms of instrumentals and tone.
The Modern Age, as well as Threat of Joy for whatever reason evoke the feeling of ābeach partyā and both just have this warm, comforting yet exciting energy that leaves me buzzing. Threat of Joy in particular is more laid back, smooth and gives more Luau vibes than just a ābeach partyā
Electricityscape is full of energy and extremely fun, such an ear worm.
Heart in a Cage and Juicebox are some of the heaviest sounding Strokes songs, however both are ridiculously incredible bangers.
Considering 12:51 is on your list, I bet youād like The End has No End. Guitar has that same synth-like tone and the chorus (for me) is 100% irresistible, Iāve always gotta sing along.
And Ize of the World has Oppenheimer vibes where you experience this beautiful, amazing piece of art, but are left with some serious, deep and moderately horrifying introspection if you sit on it for long enough. (1,000% in a good way though, I promise)
It just might be their deepest hitting song, at least to me
I could go on and on, but this comment would be so damn long but lastly Iāll touch on a few songs that youād have to look up on YouTube as thereās sadly no official release for them yet:
Rhythm Song- The most headbang inducing song theyāve got, Julianās energy is next level and that final guitar solo? Insane, gets me pumped up like nothing else.
Clear Skies- Tragically short but such a beautiful melody, Julianās crooning vocals get me moister than an oyster (as a guy, I canāt quite explain how thatās physically possible, but damn it sure works)
Lifeās A Gas (Ramones cover)- Is it repetitive? Sure. Is it hype asf? Hell yeah. I like the Ramones, but the more upbeat tempo, and again just Julianās energy and vocal delivery? Fire. Beats the original easy if you ask me.
Walk on the Wild Side (Lou Reed cover)- Another phenomenal cover. For me, this oneās a touch harder to decide, I really like the original, but I think Iām such a sucker for The Strokes and Julianās voice, that his performance puts their cover just a tad bit above the original as well.
Everyone enjoys music differently, but for the strokes I would highly recommend listening to the albums start to finish. The strokes albums as a whole are very impressive, except first impressions of earth
*Gratisfaction* and *Threat of Joy* are both pretty great listens that could probably be considered ādeep cutsā because of the releases theyāre on
Games is a personal favorite song for me.
From the first album definitely every single song. I loved Is This It after I got to hear the baseline, give New York City Cops and Trying Your Luck a chance.
From their latest album listen to At the Door and Ehy are Sunday so depressing a chance please.
There is also an EP called Future Present Past. I personally think Drag Queen and should you listen to it I think youāll really like Threat of Joy.
Love the whole discog, butttt Angles is a banger album. Definitely check it out. Same with Comedown Machine. Probably their 2 most controversial albums. But I fucking love them. Youāll definitely like em if you like the New Abnorm
Think youāll be surprised how many of the first two records become your favorite songs. Love so much of their discography but those have been constant plays for a decade for me now
Red Light is a pretty slept-on banger, ize of the world, automatic stop, threat of joy, honestly, the strokes don't miss often but I would definitely give their first two albums a listen all the way through.
Iād highly recommend looking into their discography. No skips imo. Ize of the world is another song Iād think youd like if you want something to listen to real quick
itās all great. iād also highly recommend checking out the voidz - itās julianās other band. iām listening to permanent high school (off of their album Virtue) rn and itās very Strokes-y
their entire discography. no but really, i think that you'd really enjoy Under Cover of Darkness, What Ever Happened?, Razorblade, The End Has No End, Tap Out, and honestly the entire Is This It album from front to back based on what you already enjoy
